I admit, this isn't the sort of store I would routinely find myself in. Sure it's full of gems, but it's just not my style. Big rocks, all mounted inside silver frame, usually overly chunky, but in a costume jewelry kind of way. But if you're looking for an awesome piece of amber, amethyst, agate (or any other gem stone form a-z) this is the place to start.
The most interesting thing was something called "Fordite." Fordite comes from the paint in the walls at the Ford automobile plants. According to the story on the plaque, when the workers went to peel the walls in the paint department, they discovered many, many layers of paint that had hardened into interesting art. This is one of the few stores that carries this small selection of these pieces. The colours are funky (think fords in the 1960s and 1970s) and swirled with white.
