Review from Jason S.
A liquefied fermented apple a day keeps the doctor away...
I was looking for something in Washington that would compare to the Cidery I found in Victoria, B.C. I started searching on-line and found Rockridge. I was unable to get a hold of anyone at the Tasting room and found that they had a stand at the Bellevue farmers market so went for a drive.
They have a plethora of hard and soft ciders. The hard Cider offerings I saw were all Apple versions but some of the soft cider flavors are Blueberry, Strawberry, Blackberry, Asian pear, Spiced Apple, and Country Apple. You can purchase the soft cider by the gallon or in 12 oz bottles. They also sell some wine, dried fruit, honey, syrup, and vinegar.
I purchased 4 different 750ml bottles of their hard Cider all for $10 each and found that the majority of them actually tasted more like Apple Cider Vinegar which was rather disappointing. Maybe I got a bad batch, or maybe there was a switcharoo with their vinegar, or maybe this is the way their cider is supposed to taste. I am not sure but I wasn't a fan. However they say Apple Cider vinegar will help you lose weight so maybe I should change my mind....
The sofr cider on the other hand was perfection. I picked up a 12oz bottle of both the Spiced Apple Cider and the Asian pear varieties. The spiced apple tasted like drinking pie. I LOVE PIE. Finally I don't need a fork for it. The Asian pear tasted like plucking a ripe Asian pear from the tree and taking a bite; it was very crisp and refreshing.
I'll be back for a gallon or 4 of their soft cider but may avoid the hard cider unless I hear that my batch was an anomaly.
