I have now worked with Rock Out Karaoke for two private events.  Both events were amazing.  Between the band playing and the interaction between the band and singers you could not get more entertainment.  With some songs having not so tasteful language, the screens and back up vocals changed appropriately to fit the atmosphere.

I love the fact that they do not allow people to sign up for more then one song at a time.  Creates a good rotation and mix for the night.  Next event I have I will be checking to see if they can come!!

Wow what a FUN place to spend a Thursday evening.  Check the website for the shows schedule (tab at top) to be sure there will be (good) performers.  We were fortunate to witness an miniature Idol Competition in which 5 performers were very, very good.  After that, the band kept at it for like 10 more songs before taking a quick break.

The cover was a cheap $3 but the prices of the on-tap beers were higher than I expected, so I practically feel like it evened out.  This venue is great for groups or even just for one as it was so busy that there was plenty of hook up potential.

I was also impressed that the band was so charismatic while performing- this place overall knows how to have a good time.  We will certainly go here again.

for serious y'all how can you hate on Rock out...I want them in my living room every Mon night for a ego boosting jam sesh- yea that's the lingo for "session" look it up its science.
Anyways...don't be mad at the bar people literally go every week...I mean I almost cried at one guys performance it moved me so. We all know the 710 club so what do you think it's going to change one night a week? so here's what you do...

Step 1 - Drive to 710 with your friends
Step 2 - Remove GIANT pole from your ass
Step 3 - Sing the most funnest song you can think of...like the Lazy Song or some thing
Step 4 - hang out and get drunk so your stupid ass lets go

Pretty much a recipe for a good time.
(Plus the bass player had a super rad fiancee- shout out to Kate!!!)

Let me just say first, the band is very good!  They are very tight with playing as a group and pick up your selection of songs quite quickly.

I'm rating it a 2 because of my overall experience and that's really what will define you as a business, or a band, or anything.

#1 Complaint - the way they select the people.  I saw people going up there multiple times throughout the night and they didn't even sign up again after their first one.  Knowing that, you can figure they went there early and just signed their name three times.  Really Rock Out?  Really?  My advice: that's not how you're going to get new people.  It just wasn't fun for a new group of people (i.e. - MY group of people) just sitting there watching people who probably attend this thing every single Thursday night singing their multiple songs.

I ended up signing up at 9pm and FINALLY got my name called, oh, around 12:10pm.  Mind you, this was after their two sets and their so-called "Bingo Round" where they pull your number so anyone can have a chance.  That's a horrible method.  I know what they're trying to do - get people to stay there the longest - but in the end, those people will never go back.  And their "manager" will mention three times that they want $5 from you (after paying $2 to get in) to get a chance, yes, that's right, get a chance to cut the line and sing your song before everyone else.

I left before they called my name.  Once again, it's just my experience with this band, but in the end, that's what matters.  Change your selection process!  You're not going to get new people.

Rock Out Karaoke puts on one fantastic party for nerds like myself (and others I'm sure..)!

I went to the Yelp happy hour and after Comic Con karaoke event that was put on last night (7/23), and I have to say.. it was fabulous.

I've always liked karaoke.  It's a great outlet for people like me who sing in the car, in the shower, and in inappropriate situations.. but have a terrible voice and want to sing in more places.  So this was an appropriate place for me to belt out a fantastic tune!  Their song list has literally a little bit of everything.  I mean.. they had a few Beatles songs, "Sexual Healing", and of course.. Pour Some Sugar on Me aka "omg this is my song!".

I had a lot of fun.  The band was great, talented, and friendly.  If I see another event that these guys are at in the area, I may just have to go!

Hand down the best karaoke experience in all of Southern California. The band puts a great deal of work into this and it shows. You sing with a great band with custom programmed karaoke lyrics to assist you. Nothing compares!
Their show at the 710 Beach Club comes with a pro sound guy (John) to get the mix just right! If you enjoy singing you wont be disapointed!

My Thursday nights will never be the same! I can't really remember how I came across Rock Out Karaoke but I'm so glad I did. I followed them on Facebook for a while and the first time I saw them was at the Del Mar Fair, I dragged my sister around the fair searching for their stage. I had the opportunity to sign up but being up on that stage at the fair was waaay too much pressure. So I sat back and enjoyed everyone else singing.

The band seems like a great group of guys. They always look like they're having fun and really enjoying their crowds. I go to 710 Beach Club almost every Thursday to see them. I stay until closing and I'm always shocked that they're playing the last song of the night (time flies when you're having fun!) The cover is $2 which is a small price to pay to see the band.

There are a lot of regulars and it's entertaining to seem them every week. Again, I have never signed up although I wish I had the guts to... but my friends and I belt out the songs along with the band and the performers every time.

The song list is awesome, lots of old songs and new songs as well (Rolling in the Deep anyone?)...

All in all, a good time. I definitely recommend checking them out at their locations.

I've been here twice and have yet to be able to get up to sing. This place gets busy and rightfully so. I recommend getting here really early to put your song in. The band is talented and everyone gets really into the karaoke. It can be intimidating to get up on stage with a real band to sing, but just get sh*tfaced and go for it.

ROK is a must for anyone wanting some karaoke awesomeness in a party atmosphere. Everyone here is having a great time and there's plenty of monitors around for those who want to sing along but are still working out their stage fright. The crowd is super supportive and cheer loudly for all the singers.

It was the Thursday before Halloween, so there a handful of costumed characters that made an appearance at 710 Beach Club. I even saw a couple of Gagas in the bar and noticed some yelpers that were at the Freaky Tiki elite event in Del Mar just a few hours earlier.

Being able to belt out your favorite tunes in a bar full of drunks with a live band backing you up is about as Rock Star as it gets. But if you're into singing in little private rooms with laser disk karaoke using midi instrumentals and random Asian cut-scenes on the monitor, then this just isn't for you.

Shout-out to John R for setting up this UYE.

ROCK OUT KARAOKE is a live band that plays songs from a playlist of over 100 popular songs, but with karaoke singers taking the lead vocals.

This is a fantastic way to sing karaoke, surrounded by live musicians jamming and singing backup chorus, while you get your lead from the monitor screen.

The band members of ROCK OUT KARAOKE are supportive and FUN, just pick a song and get up on stage with them!

We have sung with R.O.K. at JT's Grill & Pub in Mission Gorge, it was good times!

Look for R.O.K. at the 710 Club in P.B. also.  Pick a song from their playlist and have fun watching other singers while your turn comes up!

I wish I had more hands...so I could give these guys four thumbs up. Ahh...just doesn't work quite the same. Oh well, I tried.

Anyhoo...Rock Out Karaoke is GLORIOUS. It is God's way of apologizing for labor, cramps and roaches. I mean...you are WITH THE BAND. With the masses below staring up at you adoringly, drunkenly or with that awkward "I'm-feeling-constipated-yet-gassy" look...probably the last two more than anything else. But it doesn't matter cause YOU'RE WITH THE BAND.

Just go. Go and have your mind BLOWN. Do you see all the caps I'm using???? That's how serious this is man.

The band is great, the MC is great...it's all great, great, great.

    Clearly...I'm a fan. :)

I love the Karaoke- my profile picture on Facebook was me singing on the Rock Out stage for the longest time. (Now changed) I went to the 710 Beach Club (710 Garnet Ave, PB); 8:30p-12:30a - Thursdays they are regulars. After some "liquid courage" beers I got myself and my friends each to do a song. The band was nice to us first-timers, and I will def be back! Yey Karaoke! Cons: Long wait times, professional singers, and I want some Lynyrd Skynyrd Simple Man! Pros: Great crowd, great band, fun times!

This was a fantastic night out. The ROK band is amazing and they made us feel like rockstars. Their song selection is extensive, considering that they are playing all of the songs. You can choose from Gaga to Black Sabbath to country and inbetween.

Yes it is a dive bar in PB, but embrace it and have a good time!

I think the cover was $2 when we were there, fyi.

I rarely if ever miss a Thursday night with these guys - which has given me time to observe how they handle newcomers and regulars alike. They're friendly, helpful both on and off the stage, and just a lot of fun, no matter what your singing skill level is, or isn't.

Unlike other live-band karaoke outfits I've seen elsewhere, ROK actually has scrolling lyrics on a tv screen to go with their 160+ song catalog, and isn't shy about trying to help out a singer who may have momentarily gotten lost in a tricky bit.

Currently their regular haunt is the 710 Beach Club in Pacific Beach, from 830-1230 -- and they've become so popular that if you get there before the show starts, you'll likely sing in the first hour, but if you get there after 930, you may be waiting a LONG time for your only turn on the stage. They're very social-media savvy, with presence on Twitter and Facebook, and regular non-irritating email updates on upcoming gigs.

Unleash your inner rockstar -- remember, it's not about how good you are or aren't on stage, it's about how much fun you're having!

How have I not reviewed ROK already?  I've only been once so far, but it was a BLAST.

One of my trusted karaoke partners and crime and I ventured down to PB (which in all honesty, made us both shudder) to the 710 Club.  I remember this place was once Blind Melons, and my fiance's old band had played there a time or two.

"This place wasn't bad," I remembered.

ROK happens on Thursday from 7-10pm.  That was early enough to get in, sing the hits, get the **** out of PB and back to our safe haven that is North Park.

Well in that span of time, we each sang 2 or 3 songs, and there was a great variety of singers and songs.  At this point, I think they are up to 100 songs or so, which is pretty impressive for a karaoke BAND, if you ask me.   Plus the guys are REALLY nice, as is the guy who runs it.  High fives all around!

The fact that ROK gives you the chance to sing on a stage, backed by a band, is one of the coolest things I've ever experienced.  I've always wanted to be in a band - didn't matter if it was a cover band or original - and ROK gave me a little taste of that.

I SWEAR, I will be back, ROK.  Just a matter of getting a posse together to brave Pacific Beach.  Seriously, getting there was a task and a half.  Almost a 2-3 car accident right in front of us at that weird funky intersection.  You know the one.

That's what I've docked 1 star for, incidentally.  The fact that it's in PB.  However, I heard that they are looking to branch out and play other venues on other nights of the week.  So if and when that occurs, I'll reevaluate.

    ROK on.

i was lucky to experience the awesome that is Rock Our Karaoke at the Yelp Unleashed party.  These guys seriously know how to energize a crowd and play some great hits while drunken Yelpers sing their hearts out!  I was fortunate to be able to finish up the set with Santeria with some friends and end the evening right.

If I were having a wedding or some other party, I would definitely hire these guys to entertain my guests.  This concept beats the boring old karaoke that most of us are used to.  There really is nothing like rocking out to live music!  The guys are talented beyond belief and I only wish that my singing could match their playing.

I think we can all agree that the party was absolutely off the chain and that Rock Out Karaoke had a big hand in making it so.  There's nothing like gathering 700 drunken and stuffed people and giving them a microphone!  Who ever thought it could be so fun?!  Best party EVER!

These guys played at the recent Yelp party at Fit. They also play regularly at 710 club.

As soon as I learned about this idea, I said "I want to go to there." An innovative concept, whereby a LIVE BAND backs you up while you belt out karaoke hits. As close to living our rock and roll fantasies as most of us are gonna get!

These guys are super-cool and they're great musicians, and the setup is very "user friendly". There is a monitor positioned in front of you about 3 feet up off the ground, convenient and it lets you look more like a genuine rock star by facing the audience, than a karaoke robot who is staring at a monitor or craning your neck in an awkward angle.

The catalog of songs (about 80) covers a wide range, a lot from the 90's, and has at least one hit that everyone can belt out.

The "list" guy was cool, too, unlike the bridge trolls at all the other karaoke places I've been whom you have to bribe and hope you get to perform before they close.

These guys are innovators and trendsetters, and I hope the trend is here to stay! Make sure to check them out wherever they're playing!

These guys are great! They're funny, great musicians, and you can tell they actually enjoy being there. Even when the singer is... not so good, and they forget the lyrics, the band is still smiling and trying their best to help the singer with the lyrics.

This is such a great way for people who love karaoke to enjoy it in a different way. I went to Del Mar during the Fair to see them, and also at the 710 Beach Club on Thursday. Both fun times and good vibes. Love these guys and can't wait to attend another event!

Saw these guys at 710 Beach Club in PB on thursday...I had a killer time! The cover was $2, and the club had monitors everywhere, so the whole bar could see the song lyrics. The karaoke is backed by a live band, which makes for a waaay more exciting, rock star experience. It was a great crowd, and we danced to every song! They stopped the show halfway through to do a competition called 'PB Idol', where they had some of the more 'professional' singers compete with an applause meter. The guy we were arbitrarily cheering for ended up winning! I felt so accomplished. Will def. be back next week!

    ROK is super radical!

They played and MCed at my wedding just a few weeks ago. Lemme tell ya- it was about 80% their fault that the guest reviews of the wedding were exclusively: "BEST WEDDING EVER!"

They played some acoustic guitar music for the wedding procession, worked the MC angle all through the day and, of course, played music for our guests- who were lining up to sing karaoke. One of the band members will sing if there isn't a willing karaoker (which happened literally only twice in the 3ish hours they played!). I, the Groom, personally made sure there was little downtime for them- I think I sang about 5 songs.

ROK is a great cover band at their core (including their own singer- who has serious vocal range)- so they can play studio-quality renditions of songs- making being their temporary lead singer all the easier (if you're a karaoke enthusiast, think of how hard it is to sing with those terrible, cheap karaoke catalogs- where the songs don't really sound like their studio versions). They use a monitor with the song lyrics and pacing right on there, so it has the same feel as any other karaoke machine, but with the added radicality of having a real-deal band behind you that will help pace and back-up your vocals!

I am a discerning karaoker, and I HIGHLY recommend singing with them wherever they are playing- or hiring them for your event. On that last note- you best get in quick, because no less than 3 people told me after our wedding that they were going to call their already-hired DJ or band and cancel so that they could hire ROK for their upcoming weddings.

These guys really are as good as it gets. Totally a fun concept to begin with, karaoke is cool but to have a live band playing behind you makes you really get a taste of being a rock star. They're extremely nice about it too and as a performer myself, I know how much the crowd appreciates it when you let them know you appreciate them. They even offered people feedback and thanks for how well they sang. You get a sense that these guys just have a blast doing what they do and it makes it a great time for everybody.

Have you ever sang karaoke and had a backup singer?  I strongly encourage you to do so.

We hired these guys for a block party we had in South Park.  Our event is basically 100 friends hanging out for the afternoon - trying to have as much fun as we possibly can for the day.  And RockOut Karaoke (ROK, we called them) could not have been a better decision for our event.  The guys were a ton of fun, interacting really well the crowd.  They played along with our crazy antics, let us make drunken speeches, but most of all, let us rock out.

They were self-sufficient setting up and taking down, and flexible when coordinating logistics.  I bet they'd be the ideal wedding band too.  Book 'em.

Definitely the most fun way to spend a night out in san diego. And you actually get to sing your songs without having to pay a guy $40 like another karaoke place in town....
Nothing beats getting to be the singer of a band for the night and the band and crowd are all super nice and fun
