I am a big fan of Mongolian BBQ. I usually go to the one on Davie St. but a friend suggested this one. It is practically the same in terms of price and taste. I think the setup of this one though is quite more awkward than the other. Now aside from the comparisions..
For those who are not familiar with what Mongolian BBQ is, basically it's like a buffet where you chose your meats, veggies, noodles, sauces and bring it over to a guy who cooks it for you. At this location you get a number and you can take a seat and they bring it over for you when it's done. For some reason I found this really awkward and kind of prefer waiting for my food like the other one (oops sorry, comparing again.)
ANWAAAAAAAAAYS, you get totally stuffed! And the food is so good, it's like making your own food because you choose what you want, then someone else cooks it for you :) yummy! -

i work right near by this place and everyone seems to like it so i decided to get takeout during my lunch break the other day. BIG mistake. i got a violent case of food poisoning. diners beware!
ps. please don't filter this honest review yelp, people need to know! food poisoning is a serious thing that can kill someone. -

Thank goodness the Great Wall Mongolian BBQ on Denman is going to reopen after the fire, because I loved that place, and the one on Robson just isn't the same.

My first time trying Mongolian BBQ in Vancouver. $13.95. The spread is very basic: lamb, chicken, pork, beef, and some vegetables and two different kinds of noodles. Thanks to the other reviews for how to properly prepare your bowl. Put the light stuff first- vegetables then the meats, so you can fit more! There's an assortment of different kinds of sauces even giving you a chart that shows what sauces will give you a Taiwanese or Singaporean type of flavor to your bowl. We literally took AYCE to another level by sitting there from 1:30-5:30 4 hours! I think because of us they are going to put a 2 hour limit for each customer like the Japanese AYCE places. I've never been at a restaurant that long except for a wedding reception. I can't believe we were at the restaurant that long. We just had such a great time catching up and sharing ideas. What's cool was the waitress and owner didn't push us to leave. The AYCE comes with a miso soup which I heard didn't taste all that great and salad which looks quite weak for a salad. The rice was unacceptable. Management needs to learn how they do it at Japanese and Chinese restaurants. Even I can cook better rice than this restaurant. The BBQ was cooked very well props to the guy with the cool looking dark rimmed glasses.

The dirtiest place I've ever seen. Everything is sticky with grease. I don't think they have ever cleaned the place... ever.

For an alternative in regards to cultured cuisine to eat on this block, and stretch of restaurants this place is a welcome difference of change, from the many restaurants that have failed here prior to, I wonder if this place will survive, only time will tell.
I am not a big eater, I just like to know what is available in terms of food, and when I saw this place and the prices I had to walk in to see what the deal was. The listed specials are not bad, I couldn't do the AYCE, but just the regular fill your bowl with what you want before they stir fry it all up in the front was different for me. A way better bargain than "THE" Mongolie Grill, cause they do not weigh the food here, I tried to put as much as I could in the bowl, and I could say my mouth was talking over my stomach, and I was struggling to finish cause there was a bit too much food for me.
A good selection of meats, vegetables and sauces, it is how you make it, so if you add too much sauce, and it becomes too savoury for your taste, it really is your fault, not them. The place has basic seating, do not waste your money on the salad bar, I found it not fresh, and the soup they give you, do not bother either, just go for the main, and that should get you by. -

Wandering up and down Robson with my boyfriend, we were struggling with choosing a place for lunch. Thai? Sushi? Korean? Living in Seattle AKA city of thai/teriyaki overload, I was a bit disappointed at the rows upon rows of asian eateries - that is until I spotted this little joint.
Mongolian BBQ is something Washington has yet to nail - Robson Mongolian BBQ does it quite nicely though! Although the selections for ingredients is a bit limited, the restaurant itself is very clean (sometimes rare for this medium of cuisine), and the staff was prompt and friendly. What I liked most however, were the unusual sauces this place offered - curry oil? don't mind if I do!
PROS:
- Ridiculously cheap lunch special, and if you're good at making mongolian BBQ (noodles last people!), you can really pack in a huge bowl.
- Fresh ingredients
- Unique sauces
- CLEAN
CONS:
- salad bar not worth visiting
- soup is bland
- white rice only, no brown or fried rice options :(
All in all, if you're looking for a cheap, tasty lunch, definitely give this place a shot. -

You can either choose to have one bowl for $9.95 (which is enough for a medium eater) or the all you can eat option for $12.95. You get to pick your own meat from beef, lamb, pork, and chicken, then you pick your vegetables and sauce and it all gets cooked together on one big ass grill.
The food was fine, but the back area seating was a little messy, I hate when they put the garbage and recycling near the seating area. Also went on a warm day and the combination of the hot grill and weather made it quite the sweat fest in there. -

Seeking escape from the Vancouver drizzle after a morning of shopping on Robson, I was craving some korean style bbq. This place was pretty close to it, and with an quick $8 lunch special, I had to at least give it a try.
Overall, I was happy. The restaurant is very clean, and $8 for soup, rice, salad, and a single Mongolian BBQ bowl was a sweet deal. A plethora of sauce selections and a cool Chinese beer I'd never tried were nice touches. -

About a few months ago a little place open up on Robson call Robson Mongolian BBQ. I pass by here a few time thinking to myself that it the same as the other two restaurant they have in the west-end(I didn't have a great experience at the other two). So one day i decided to come here and give it a go(best choice i made)
First thing I notice is the staff here are really friendly/helpful. Second thing is this place is very maintained and clean! even the washrooms are(unlike the other two restaurant). Third the food buffet where you get your food is very neat and organize even after someone makes a mess someone will come along and clean it up right away and there food buffet are fully stocked.
the food buffet station are places in a way where you started with getting your bowl and then there a the salad part which i guessing for A.Y.C.E may get salad.
Beside that is the meat! they have four kinds of meat that are thinly slice. Lam, Pork, Beef and chicken.
when you go to the next station they have tons of veggies you may pick from ie: mushroom, baby corn, green onion, mixed green/yellow peppers, cucumbers, carrot thin chop, onion, broccoli, spinach, sprouts and they even have tofu. I can't remember the rest but there is a few more. The next part has two kind of egg noodles the thin one and the thick one.
After that you have your sauces which you can make either chose your own from 20 different kinds or you may use the sauce chart on top the glass which show you the different kind of flavors you can mix.
Then its on to the cooking station, you leave your bowl there with everything you picked and they will then places all the food on a giant iron table wok and you may either get a table card and sit down or stand and watch the cook cook up a storm with your food( I love that part, especially when the wine in the sauce catches flames) then when the foods done either they will bring it to your table if they are not super busy or you can get it yourself.
I would have love to get AYCE but i was in hurry both times I was here. so i decided to get dinner to go! (for $8 you can't go wrong)
I had so much food that the take out box was so full they had to use a band around it. Next trip here i promise to get AYCE.
Over the place is a very healthy and good value for eat in and take out($8 dinner) or AYCE($12.95dinner) they also have lunch specials too
I give this place my two chopsticks of the week!!Listed in: two chopsticks
