I can not say I would go out of my way for any Robin's Donuts.  But when in a pinch!

They make these little donuts called Robin's eggs.  They will feed a group of hungry teens.  We know non of this is good for us, however, we still indulge once in while.

So if you are expecting  the best brew and the best service, you will not find it here.  But , it will do in a pinch.

One cannot survive on Robin's Donuts alone.

This is an inexpensive Coffee, Donut and deli shop close enough to downtown Halifax and near major bus routes. That's about all that is appealing about Robin's Donuts. Their muffins and snack selection is large enough but I just feel like I am about to eat something that is definitely unhealthy for me when I walk in there. Not that I ever thought Donuts were healthy. But the atmosphere in the store just reminds me I am in a high sugar, low quality Donut shop. The staff are friendly and from time to time I will meet a really nice lady which makes the experience a lot better. But overall the staff are about as average as the store is.

One thing that might surprise people to know is that Robin's Donuts is 100% privately owned and also a Canadian store. I didn't know that until I looked on their website. So that deserves almost a full star in my book. But do they stack up to an even more famous Donut and coffee shop such as Tim Hortons? Not really. Their ambiance is a bit depressing with browns mixed in with yellow, their staff aren't so good and there is nothing new or special that they bring out that other places don't offer.

At the end of the day I will give them a solid three stars but I doubt any other stars will be added to this review in the near future. Some simple things they could do would be a new "look" and double the quality of customer service. If that happened, they would be a strong contender. But as they stand now, I doubt business is going to go up or down.

I haven't been here in a while, but my mother-in-law comes here on an almost weekly basis. She says it's not fancy, but hey, it's OK.

I seem to recall that I liked their donuts better than those at Tim Hortons last time I was in.

Sort of a tough clientele, though. Perhaps not as pleasant for sitting as the coffee roasters next door.

Driving down North Street you can smell Robins before you see the sign. I always say it smells like they are burning the coffee.

On my way to work on day I decided to pop in and pick up some donuts here as it convenient. I can say that they do have a good selection of treats at the front counter.  As well they have Robin's eggs which are a bite size treats.

Overall I would not go out of my way to return to Robins as I find the atmosphere very dark.
