Surprisingly tasty! The place looks kind of sketchy on the outside - I don't think the outside or the inside has been updated since it opened. But don't let that sketchy exterior fool you! Inside is tasty, tasty Chinese food.
Is it authentic? I have no idea. I'm from Newfoundland. All I know is that I like this place and would eat here all the time if I could.
Warning: they are cash only.
p.s. they are open late on weekends - until around 1am - so if you were to be karaokeing in the neighbourhood, you could also plan to get some Robie Food while you're at it. Just a thought.Listed in: Nom nom nom, North Ending

This restaurant has been in Halifax forever.
And people don't come for the decor. It features a singing lobster, seats at the counter, and a number of booths whose coverings have taken on the texture of leather from years of use. ( it's cloth under there folks ) The music is circa early 70's played on an 8 track.
It's the food.
It's plentiful, tasty, not particularly inventive, pretty standard Canadian /Chinese food.
They make a nice ginger noodle soup if you can navigate your way through the complexities of ordering. But really they'll put anything you want in there, I think, if you ask. The Shanghai rice rolls are good, the jumbo shrimp Spring rolls are good, but they aren't really jumbo.
Good basic Canadian/Chinese food served by nice folks in a neigbourhood establishment. Try it out.
