This place has a lot of cool tops and jackets but you will have to take your time to find a really great bargain as there doesn't really seem to be much organzation in terms of size in the store (I think they go by colour??). Everytime I have went in here the lady who is working (there's an older one and some younger ones), just stares at you when you come in and doesn't say hello. Just watches, like everyone is wasting her time. My friend even said "hello" to the older lady and she just mustered a "hi". Weird...It's only when I went up with my purchase that she spoke to me and said "hello". I guess browsing just isn't appreciated!

I walk by Robes and Relics almost everyday and am (this close) from going in and seeing if the person will greet me, and if not asking to speak to the manager to ask why. I'm assuming that the older lady is probably the owner so it's probably a lost cause.

This shop could be so much better if the people working cared about their jobs and the customers.

Located just off Whyte Ave, Robes and Relics offers quality consignment clothing and accessories for bargain shoppers. Its exterior may look a bit funk and retro, but the items they carry are similar to what you would find at any shopping mall, only for about half the retail price.

For those who are not too familiar with the concept of consignment, let me take a moment to explain. Individuals can bring their unwanted items to a consignment shop, and the shop will sell them for a certain price on behalf of the individual. Once the items are sold, the individual receives the profits from the sales, and the shop takes a certain percentage as well. You're rid of that sweater that Aunt Agnes gave you last Christmas, and you (as well as the store) got some profit -- everybody's happy!

Since they don't get their pieces from just one source, consignment shops offer the best variety. You get an eclectic array of styles all in one place. I love consignment shops for that reason. Understandably though, some people may feel it's not quite their thing, as consignment is often confused with second-hand. Robes and Relics only accepts freshly-washed and pressed items that are in sell-able condition, and that have been purchased within the last two or three years. So sorry to those who are hoping to find a pair of wide-flared bell-bottoms.

Each item is labeled with the date it came into the store, so you know how old or new it is. Also, don't be fooled by the shop's size -- it may look small, but it's jam-packed with incredible finds. The racks are organized neatly according to size, which simplifies your hunt. In addition to great clothing pieces, they also sell shoes, bags, hats, belts, and jewelry. I must add that they have a fabulous shoe selection (I'm still sad that the beige heels I tried on were too big).

If you are looking to sell some of your stuff, you'll need to call and make an appointment well in advance. I needed to call at least two weeks before, because they were that booked up. Make sure your pieces are fairly new, i.e. not ten years ago, and in good condition. Robes and Relics will charge fifty cents per piece that requires steaming. The items you are selling also need to be in current season; they won't accept summer dresses and tank tops in the fall and winter. Once you are there, they will go through the pieces to see which ones they will take. If you're lucky, it could be all of them.

Whether you're a buyer or seller though, Robes and Relics is worth checking out. You'll look good and save money -- who can complain about that?

Forget Value Village, this is the place to shop second hand!

You will never know that you can find here, it is always different and things flow in and out of this store, so you rarely find the same thing twice.

This consignment store offers a nice selection of clothing, accessories and shoes. Granted, some stuff is crap (like all used clothing stores, of course) and sometimes you have to wade through stuff, but great finds can be ... found.

I found a leather bag here for $15. I was pretty impressed with my find!

Take your time in this store, you won't be disappointed.

I'm not too sure what to think of this store.  I'm not sure if they sell used clothing or not; they didn't seem to have anything that repeated, everything was different.  They had lots of items crammed into their medium sized store.  There was a lot to look at but from what I could see as I walked around was nothing too interesting, not for my style anyway.  Nothing really jumped out at me and called out my name.  They have some shoes but, again, they kind of looked used considering some of them looked a little bet up.  I also really didn't like their presentation of their shoe items; they were just placed on the floor under a rack of clothes.

They have a medium sized selection of accessories that were better than their selection of clothes; but again there was nothing there that I was willing to spend money on.  I actually wanted to leave the store as fast as possible because the incense they were burning was starting to irritate my eyes.

Yeah, like I said I'm not sure how I feel about this store.  Maybe I'll have to go back and have a closer look but I just don't like the incense.

If you want to stay trendy but can't afford to dish out top dollar for new clothes, hip, used clothing in great condition is an excellent option to fill out your wardrobe. Robes & Relics only puts cool, fashionable clothing on its racks that are in top condition. So you don't have to sift through junk. No satiny, lace-collared blouses with shoulder pads and gold buttons here. I got two darling shirts I love: a Marc Jacobs purple-and-white polka-dot short-sleeved blouse that's light-weight and great for summer, and a Holt Renfrew pink top that's straight out of Legally Blonde. The first was $14 and the second was $40, but probably originally priced over $150. Move over Value Village.

The people that work here are a big no-thanks. Not even a hello when I came in or a hello when I decided to buy something. The selection was pretty decent here though I will admit that. But with it being a small store and not a chain I expected better customer service. I will probably not return.
