The first time I wandered into this shop a while back, I came right when they were actually roasting coffee -and in the smallest home sized roaster I've ever seen! I was so impressed with the simplicity of it.
But to be honest, I was not as impressed with the taste and body of my cup of coffee. *bummer* :-/

Very cute but a bit cluttered with articles for sale on a shelf as you walked in the door. Well, it looks like they finally got the right idea. Now they have uncluttered that wall and added a few more nice, comfortable chairs and it sure is an improvement.

The coffee and tea selection is not bad and the pastries look yummy. It's a nice shop to sit and surf or read a paper or book and with patient and helpful customer service.

I don't drink coffee, so I'm not even going to take sides in the whole debate about which coffee shop serves the best coffee. (The way I figure it, there's never going to be a final answer anyway, because different people have different tastes. Chacun à son gout, and all that.)

But I would like to talk about hot chocolate. Every time I order hot chocolate in a place like this, they ask if I want whipped cream on it. "Sure, go for it," say I, not because I'm all that fond of whipped cream in my hot chocolate, but just to let the barista feel like he or she is making a work of art. (If you really want to tickle my fancy with a cup of hot chocolate, drop a couple of marshmallows into it, and take me back to "mug up" times at camp when I was a kid.)

At Roastmastir's, when my hot chocolate came, the whipping cream was chocolate. No kidding. I've never even heard of something like that before. It made that cup something special. In fact, it may even have replaced marshmallows as my favourite thing to go into a cup of hot chocolate.
