I am totally addicted to this place. The rolls here are amazing and creative and not overpriced. The sashimi is always fresh, marinated tuna is amazing. Always my go to when I'm craving sushi and I want it delivered. Delivery is always fast and the delivery guy is super friendly. Service in the restaurant is great as well. Of the too many choices of sushi places around this area, this one's the best!

On the plus side, the food was quite good and the prices were respectable.
On the negative side, even though there were maybe 4 people total in the restaurant, our food took around 40 minutes to arrive. The waitress eventually told us that the kitchen was preparing a $300 catering order and that's what was slowing things down. All very well and good, but it did not make a good impression. On top of that, my friend had to ask the waitresses multiple times for some additions to her order, and eventually got tired of waiting and went back to the counter and asked for the sauce she needed.
Also, what is up with blatantly stealing menu items (names and all) from the Eatery's famously eclectic menu? Really? -

Really nothing special.
Prices were fairly reasonable, but the food was quite forgettable. We ordered a couple typical sushi boxes and I ordered a couple extra nigiri sushi's. Unfortunately, my hamachi was still half frozen and the tuna was mushy.
All in all, there are better sushi places in the area, we are unlikely to come back. -

Ro Sushi has slowly grown on me. The tea they serve (for free of course) with the meal is fantastic, and they have a pretty good selection. In terms of value and taste they are not the best bang for your buck place I've been to but, it's definitely a place I won't refuse sushi from.

Great prices, I like their rolls with mango and papaya as most places don't serve these. Their bento boxes were also a steal and very tasty. The service was good although she did not seem to quite understand english very well she was still very nice. I would definitely go back for more!!!

Good sushi, have also had a tasty chicken teryaki box. Only complaint is that it is freezing inside in the winter.

This is what a typical week looks like for me:
-Monday: curse the weekend for not being longer as I crawl out of bed bleary-eyed. Think about all the delicious food I consumed on the weekend as I get ready for work.
-Tuesday: wish the work week would hurry along. Start thinking about what I'm going to pack for lunch for the rest of the week.
-Wednesday: happy that the week is now past the hump and that the weekend is now in sight. Start thinking about what I'm going to eat on the weekend.
-Thursday: giddy anticipation for Friday. Think about what I'm going to eat on the weekend. Browse Yelp by night, searching for my next great find.
-Friday: TGIF! TGIF! Think all day about what I'm going to eat that weekend, while intermittently wiping drool off my chin.
Needless to say, I like my food. Going out to eat on the weekends is always a treat for me, and given the fact that my expectations have the chance to build all week, they can sometimes be a bit on the unreasonable side...which makes it all the nicer when I have meals that meet them!
I had recently been craving sushi, and with the help of my review reading right-hand man, decided on Ro Sushi as the new place to try that weekend. Braving the pouring rain on a Saturday, we made the trek to Broadway and Cambie with rumbling tummies. The place was predictably empty given the horrendous weather, which was nice for us because it meant tip-top service and a relaxed ambiance. The decor was certainly nothing to write home about - typical sushi restaurant with laminated pictures of sushi lining the walls, some tvs, etc. etc. We placed our (admittedly unoriginal) order of several rolls to share, as well as an order of spicy agadeshi tofu.
Our food came out quickly and efficiently, and everything was very good. The ratio of rice to filling was good, and the fish tasted fresh. The yam tempura + avocado and the popeye roll that we got as our veg. options were both very, very tasty. I was impressed and delighted with the number of vegetarian sushi options on the menu, as well as the quality of the finished product. The agadeshi tofu was also a winner. Prices were reasonable and service was very good. A wise choice for sushi on Broadway.Listed in: Noontime Nomming, Vancouver Vegetarian

Went through a spicy tuna roll obsession and Ro Sushi was the only place that could fix the itch in the Cambie & Broadway area. And they offer a Spicy Roll Combo full of spicy goodness!!! For $9 it comes with a roll of:
Spicy Dyanamite
Spicy Tuna
Spicy Scallop
Can't beat the price anywhere else. So delicious I ALWAYS eat the entire thing but trust me, it's a lot of food. The sunomono is pretty awesome too. The soup part isn't too vinegar-y or sugar-y. As Goldilocks would say, "it's just right".
There are tons of sushi places in the Fairview area but this is definitely one of the yummier ones on the budget end. -
Review from Joshua N.
Yes! A basic menu with excellent specialty maki. Extra marks for presentation as our food came served on a wooden sushi boat and the vegetable tempura included a couple of fresh strawberries for no apparent reason. Super friendly staff, prompt refilling of water and tea, extremely quick service on the food and the bill. No bank-breaker, here: we spent $42 incl tax and tip for three people, which makes this place a bargain for the quality of the food and everything that comes with it.

I really liked this place a lot. I don't eat sushi, so I feel like I have very unique experiences at sushi restaurants with my friends. I got some veggie tempura to split with my friends and I also got a delicious bowl of saucy beef on rice. It was a great meal, the sauce was really tasty... think Asian style BBQ sauce. And the beef and rice were good too. At 6$ for a big bowl of food you can't go wrong. The tempura was pretty good too. Not the best I'd ever had but by far not the worst either. The price was right and they definitely gave you an interesting assortment of deep fried goodness. We got the standard yams and carrots and then we also got a red pepper and asparagus and - wait for it - pineapple! It was definitely interesting and probably not for every palate but I certainly enjoyed it. The only real negative for me was that the asparagus was quite tough and woody at the bottom. Perhaps it should have been cut a little bit shorter.
The service was quick and friendly, too. It was a very basic looking restaurant on the outside and in but don't be fooled by its appearance! You'll get good food at a good price. -

Hole in the wall, doesn't look like anything special but is always pretty busy despite being amongst many restaurants on this block.
Portion sizes are big, sushi is fresh, prices are cheap. What more could you ask for in a sushi place?
I had the "spicy roll combo" which was definitely enough food for $9.
Looks like they have a bunch of reasonably priced lunch boxes (advertised on the wall of the restaurant) so will be back for that.
Always happy when a place turns out to be way better than I expect it's going to be (especially when it's within walking distance of home).
With the Vietnamese place next door this block is turning into a great area to get good, very reasonably priced food. -

There is excellent value to be had if you like boring, entry-level Japanese. You can get a chicken teriyaki box that includes rice, salad, a California roll and miso soup for $6.95. And it's a huge portion!
They also have some more creative options if you venture onto the regular menu. How about a Saskatchewan roll($5.25)? It has spicy yam inside (not really that spicy, though) and avocado beautifully sliced on top and it's garnished with a generous sprinkle of potato crisps!
The veggie gyoza ($3.95, 6 pieces) in green pockets were really tasty. I had a bowl of Seafood Soba in soup ($8.50). I have to argue that the noodles were not actually soba, though. Soba area usually made of buckwheat, making them kind of spotty and brown. I guess their translation of soba here is the more general version referring to thin noodles. The seafood in the soup was nicely cooked and it was piping hot and filling.
The place loses a star for lacklustre service. Seriously, what do you have to do to get a smile? It loses another for atmosphere: naked tables and walls covered in photos of their food.
There's all day free parking at the rear of the shop. -

Ro Sushi (formerly Mo Mo Ta Ro about 2-3 years ago) has upped its game sooo much in the last couple of years. It went from being a completely average hole-in-the-wall sushi place (dime a dozen in Vancouver) to just looking like one.
I should point out now that I am vegetarian, meaning I haven't tried any of the sashimi or anything meat related at all, except for one daring encounter with a bite of spicy tuna roll (tastes like raw fish... I really can't judge). That said, if you're vegetarian, into cheap rolls done well, and are sick of just picking from the vegetarian menu of kappa, avocado, yam roll, or vegetable roll, try Ro Sushi. They seem to have borrowed a lot of their menu from the notorious Eatery, minus the price, the lines, and the noise (and minus a bit of the flair and style, but it's still good). My absolute favourite is the Saskatchewan roll (spicy yam, avocado, mango sauce, potato flakes), but also great are the Roll de Soleil, Passionfruit, and Mango Paradise. Philadelphia roll is heavily loaded with cream cheese (too much for me).
I'd never claim that this is an amazing restaurant, but for a cheap lunch or take-out, this is my favourite. Service is super friendly, they're usually quick, and the quality is pretty consistent. Pro-tip: don't go between 12 and 1 on a weekday, it's a zoo. Much slower and with worse service. For a great first experience, try anywhere between 1:30pm and dinner time. -
Review from Evilyn T.
We were in the area, and had empty bellies so we figured we'd try this place out. It looked like a typical Japanese restaurant with the pictures of combos on the wall with the prices listed, I think the only thing missing was a Kirin poster, but hey this place was classier than that. Actually, I liked the way they put little Japanese folding screens in between the tables that were close together, so you could eat privately without bumping the next table.
I ordered the Tuna Gomae, since I like sashimi and gomae, I thought it might be awesome together, but it wasn't really. Instead of using spinach, they used shredded radish, so it was more like tuna sashimi with spicy peanut sauce. I also ordered a ninja roll, which was basically a california roll with seared tuna on top. It was pretty good, and I really only ordered it because of the name. It was actually a toss up between ordering the Ninja roll or the Erotica roll, because I have never heard of an Erotica roll before, and I wonder what kinda sauce goes in that roll??? Wtf??
I also wanted the chicken gyoza, but they were out so I had the pork instead. The gyoza was pan-fried, which was rad because I hate it when places deep fry them. Unfortunately the sauce that was provided with the gyoza was this soya sauce with chili-flavouring stuff when what I really wanted was that Japanese vinegar that usually comes with it. Seriously the vinegar is so good I could drink it like water, and its half the reason I usually order gyoza to begin with.
There are lots of things on the menu that I would like to go back and try, so you'll probably see an update from me on this one in a few. Total cost of my meal = about $18.00 after tax and tip.Listed in: Sushies!

had been visiting Ro Sushis every on a semi-regular basis. My girlfriend is vegan and found there are LOTS of options here for her to choose from beyond the usual offerings at less expensive sushi places.
We always leave well looked after. Staff are often very friendly but do not interrupt which is just how we like it.
A great place to get a quick meal, can get really busy some nights but the service is always there.
The only reason I dont give it a 5/5 would be the ambiance can sometimes be off putting. Not a fan of large tv's playing extreme sports or celine dion concerts. So take my criticism for what it's worth. -

I love sushi and this place makes great sushi. My favourites are their take on the west coast pockets, the seared tuna special rolls and all the chefs' specials. I don't live near this restaurant but I make the time to make the trek over to this place. Plus its priced so right! I will definitely be back Ro sushi! :)

Nice enough little Sushi Joint with a busy lunch crowd. Food is ok; they use too much rice as do most places in Vancouver.

I have been going here for years now. It's never busy so might make you feel it's not good, it's also suspiciously cheap. But it's excellent if you like the standard bento boxes with everything you could possibly want in it AND get a ton of food. For $6.50 you can get chicken teriyaki, tempura, california rolls, miso soup and salad. They also have a bunch of other options.
They also carry Mario's Gelato tartufos here cheaper than at Mario's!!
Definitely worth trying out. Probably busier for lunch since it's near the hospital. One time I even had a going away dinner here with 20 people and they were extremely accommodating. -

I've been here twice for take-out. First occassion, they forgot the gyoza and the second time, they had packed in the wrong sushi roll. It wasn't busy. In fact, I was the only person ordering the takeout and it seemed like there were enough people in the kitchen to do the work. The girl behind the counter wasn't particularly friendly either - lacking tact and personality. So for this reason, I won't be back. Quality of the sushi is inconsistent - something about the rice that wasn't quite right. The first time I went, I dined with my partner and I thought it was ok. And maybe it's only good for in-house dining. But, these guys have lost me as a customer. Real shame.
