I managed to find myself in Niagara Falls for a work conference last summer, the falls are great for about a day of tourism then the American side gets really depressing. The conference actually provided something nice to do during the day...
For dinner one night my co-workers and I decided to drive down the Niagara River a bit and try a restaurant that was recommended to us and ended up at the Riverside Inn in Lewiston.
I loved everything about our meal here, we sat overlooking the river and Canada on the far shore and enjoyed a sunset. Also the Whirpool rapids boat boarded below us so we could watch it fly down the river. We had some excellent wines and a bread basket. I ordered the coconut crusted ahi and quite literally, this is one of the best meals I've ever had. The ahi was perfectly grilled to a nice rare and full of flavor with the coconut crust providing a wonderful compliment.
Service was attentive but not overbearing and if you're feeling more casual, the bar on the deck below the restaurant was quite festive. If for some reason I end up in Western NY again, I'm going to make every effort to come back here.
