We arev from LA, We dined here last Monday, the food and service were superb! We didnt know much about the area or the resturant , and it was a great dining experience for us. We went up North and learend to appreciate the resturant even more!

Last year, I went to Quebec City with my fiancé to celebrate our anniversary. Our first night there, we waited in line for a restaurant for more than an hour in Old-Quebec and the line literally didn't move at all! It seemed like everyone was having a 3 hour dinner that night and no one was in a hurry to leave.
After waiting for so long, we decided to just cut our losses and go somewhere else. We had no idea where to go but we knew we didn't want to go to a restaurant in a touristy area. After driving around and feeling lost, we ended up in a quiet neighborhood with a few restaurants and my boyfriend spotted il Matto from across the street.
As soon as we entered the restaruant, we felt welcomed and calm. The crowd consisted of mostly couples on a date or friends catching up over dinner and wine. I remember saying to my boyfriend "this is going to be a good meal, I can just feel it!"
For appetizer, we ordered "Fondue et suplis." It is basically a fried risotto stick and a chunk of fried fondue cheese. I don't know if I was just really hungry but it was beyond amazing.
For mains, I ordered "Linguine frutti di mare." It was done just right, with the right amount of sauce, seafood as well as perfectly cooked pasta. My boyfriend couldn't decide between the steak or Spaghetti meat balls so he asked the owner. Surprisingly, without hesitation, he chose Spaghetti meat balls! He said you can go to many fancy steak houses in the world for a good steak but his mother made these Spaghetti meat balls and they are not to be missed! He was right, they were glorious! They were some serious ginormous and tasty meat balls!
We really liked Il Matto and had a great 3 hour dinner ourselves. The decor is great and from what I can remember, they had a beautiful heated patio too. The servers are really helpful even though they didn't speak much English and the menu is in French but good food doesn't need much communication. If we're ever back in Quebec City (hopefully soon!) I'll definitely want to go back for another 3 hour meal. -

Hip, super cool Italian Modern restaurant. Loved the decor, the sexy couples, and the professional service. Mussels marinara was exquisite. Above average Caesar salad, with creamy dressing and fresh romaine. Pasta with wild mushrooms was a huge hit. Veal scallopini was delicious - served in a light Marsala gravy. This a hip, sexy, upscale eatery with great service and solid, well made food. Bravo.

I really enjoyed the lasagna. Nice modern decor and always very crowded. A trendy little Italian place that serves simple but tasty food. Inspired by the owner's mother recipes.
