I loved the Rimrock! It is a hotel built into the side of a mountain, making for extraordinary views no matter where your room is. The rooms were clean and quite spacious, we had one room with one king and a pull out, and one room with two queens, and both were large. The bathrooms in both were also large.
We had the pleasure of dining in the Primrose, the next-to high end restaurant, and the food was unbelievable (we had the fixed menu for Christmas). We also ordered room service for breakfast one day, and it was delicious.
The pool and workout facilities were clean and maintained.
Unlike some visitors, I loved that the hotel was situated a bit further from Downtown, because it provided easy access to hiking trails :) The trail to town was a bit tricky to find, but we just asked an employee and they pointed us in the right direction. It was also within walking distance of the hot springs.
I found the parking to be easily accessible (and indoor!)
All the staff were kind and helpful. -

As a hotel the rimrock is acceptable, but only worth the price if you have a great view to wake up to (which we had a stunning view). The hotel isn't worth it if you're counting on good consistent service. The rooms were large, spacious/comfortable, but were in need of redecorating. The bathrooms were clean, but uncomfortably small (couldn't even dry off in the bathroom because of lack of room. The concierge staff was very friendly and helpful. So our hotel critique is quite fair.
However, on the flip side, we had more than one unacceptable experiences dining at the rimrock (the wait staff was absolutely terrible - they got our order wrong and took nearly a half hour to fix it, and we had to ask at least 3 times for more water - mind you the restaurant was not busy at the time). The worst part about it was we complained to managerial staff and they didn't seem to care at all about the poor service and didn't do anything to make up for it. It's like they didn't care about repeat business at all.
Lastly, do not waste your money dining at the Eden restaurant either - the staff is amazing, however the food/flavors are horrible - I'd rather have a mcdonalds cheeseburger than the crap they served us in a fixed 6-course menu. "The Maple Leaf" restaurant in Banff - has amazing food/flavors if you're looking to treat your taste buds. -

Pasta buffet Wednesdays in the winter $26 salad, pasta made to order dessert station excellent service. Wine prices a little too high for me.

Part of the subarctic zone, the province of Alberta enjoys longer summer days-- and by longer, I mean the sun seems to never set! This also means that you may be viewing the glorious mountains surrounding this resort till midnight and you'd still be able to see every crevasse and tree! Maybe even a rainbow sighting!
Apart from the magnificent views of God's creation, if you enjoy being more secluded from the rest of town, please do venture over yonder. There is a trail that leads directly to town from the Rimrock which takes about a 40 minute trek.
I read on the other reviews that parking seemed to be an issue, but there were plenty of parking spaces during our stay, with many levels below the main "floor". It was a bit on the pricier side, but then again it's all worth it when you are in the middle of the Canadian rockies!!
As you enter the resort and pass the front desk, you land yourself at the lounge. It's conveniently opened till 12 am, so you can pick up on any missed meals or just sit outside on the balcony to see where mister sun actually disappears to.
There is also a business room to go on the internet for free once you get yourself a swipey card from the front desk.
And alas, it's a pity we had to leave so soon since the people there were so amazingly nice and helpful throughout our stay!! -

The prices for the standard rooms are ridiculous...it's a pretty standard hotel room - you can call to request turn down service, for about $200/night I expect that it's the standard. The views, even from our standard rooms, are great though. The amenities are very good, their pool is nice, there are huge windows at the pool/spa & it's a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were nice, though they did screw up our spa/hotel bill & tried to bill my sister in law twice for her spa services (credit card & to her room) - though they did amend the situation.
All the restaurants here are great - I highly reccomend the cheese platter - it has a great sage infused cheese, wine infused cheese, brie, crackers, creme brule, cheesecake, grapes, strawberries & some french bread! We indulged in this after spending some time at the pool one day & we were all very impressed - if only we weren't so tired from our busy day in Banff to enjoy it with some wine!
The parking is not the best though. It's $16/day for self park & one evening we returned & were unable to self park as the lot was full - I mean, you should only sell as many there are spots - right?! He ended up getting valet parking for free but it was freezing out & they did not plug his car in. -

I wanted to try out the hotel after having stayed at the Banff Springs. The Rimrock has some great views, is a stone's throw away from the Hot Springs and is staffed with personable folk. On the flip side the building is showing its age and the restaurants leave much to be desired.
I get the sense they've got some very large freezers from which they pull their food. If staying here I'd plan to eat in Banff.
If you're a beer drinker prepare to be disappointed. The Rimrock has their own larger and a few bottled offerings from Canmore but that's about it. Nothing against Canmore but more than 1 or 2 beers on tap wouldn't hurt.
The pool is average and the indoor hot tub between the pool and fitness room, in front of the help desk, leaves much to be desired.
Overall, a decent place but not quite a world class resort. -

The hotel was nice and the staff were very attentive. Valet parking is a bit pricey though. The room was quite comfortable. The views are pretty awesome.

Beautiful hotel!
Had a great overnight stay here back in June. The weather was chilly & sunny. Just perfect. Enjoyed my massage here at the spa as well. 90 mins of bliss.
LOVED the view of the mountains as i sit by the balcony sippin' on some unknown Canadian beer.
Wish time allowed me to stay longer to fully enjoy everything in Banf. -

A FANTASTIC 4.5 STAR OASIS OF RELAXATION AND BLISS.
RimRock is akin to The Banff Springs Hotel, offering stunning vistas, first-class dining and superior service. Often in the shadow of Banff Springs, RimRock competes for the #1 Banff signature destination by offering year-round promotions and competitive rates to attract clientele from all over world.
I was fortunate to take advantage of a $100 dining credit promo, plus a complimentary upgrade, all for about $450 for two nights. My room (as an upgrade) had stunning mountain valley views and free internet access. I chose to use the dining credit towards EDEN- the only Triple-Diamond restaurant in Alberta.
About EDEN: Go there! It's not for the faint of wallet, but if you want to spurge (we did so for our one-year anniversary) it is well worth the expense. The menu is designed for multiple course tasting menu, featuring local game and produce. The portions are quite small, allowing for maximum variety throughout your dinner. We had six courses and were not over-stuffed by any stretch (heehee). The wine list is comprehensive- we savoured a 1997 single-estate Cabernet from Sonoma, plus a bottle of Veuve (compliments of our family).
If Banff is one your favourite places on earth (as it is mine), why not enjoy it in style? -

Great hotel, fabulous room and view. Very attentive staff at dinner. It was a very good experience.
I found the bell boy staff exactly that boys, a little unprofessional. -

Stayed at the Rimrock Hotel for our corporate Christmas party. Our stay at the hotel was great! We loved it! The Rimrock staff really kept the dinner and party going. The buffet was very nice as well.

Nothing short of a beautiful resort with an awesome location. I especially appreciated the free (with room key) public transportation that picked up at the hotel.

Great hotel nestled into the side of a cliff/mountain, spend the extra few dollars for an unobstructed view of the mountains out back. Great lobby with an enormous fireplace and terrific staff that helped us plan our day.

The RimRock is actually nicer than the Banff Springs hotel but despite wonderful rooms, vistas and great personnel - this place can not overcome its preatory pricing - $15.00 with tax for parking/night - why? Inaccessible health club unless you pay another fee and now I know why it was empty. I would not suggest this place under any circumstance.

Great views, definitely spring for an upgraded room. They don't charge for the health club, maybe in the past. Staff is quite helpful and cheerful. Bus ride with room key is nice. Food is good in Primrose, did not eat in eden.
