I ordered from Riki Sushi on 2 separate occasions.   Out of all of the ROLLS I've tried the tempura "crispy" rolls are my favorite.  The other ones just taste a little bland.  The tempura rolls are excellent though. Especially w/ the Spicy Mayo and other sauce they give.
The only downside to this place is the whole parking issue and the food may take a little while to come out. (All worth it though! I just suggest calling in your order )

Definitely will be frequenting this place.

Riki sushi was the first spot in North Park that had the lg. sake/lg. beer for $5.25 special. Now everyone and their mom, cousin, stepsister, shoe store has it. One thing that they can't copy is the service! Kelly, Dennis and Justin are legit.

The rolls are good and the prices are decent. If I'm having a fat day and will let myself eat fried foods, I'll get a "Snowball" or "Riki Crispy" roll. My normal meal days I'll get a "Philly" and a "North Park" and drink special for $15. Charging low prices really makes it easy to tip. Sometimes I find myself tipping 80 - 90%. But only because they're worth it. Another crazy thing that some people probably don't know is that they have Korean BBQ there. No! I'm not kidding. Wild, huh? I love Korean BBQ. That's a good selling point if you're trying to convince a reluctant friend to give sushi a shot.

Im big on service and a cool staff. Rikis staff is cool, they know everyone. Not only that Kelly and Dennis call me by my first name and Justin is behind the bar and calls me, "the guy who drinks too much during lunch breaks." it sounds hella funny in his heavy Korean accent.

I typically like to add the level of eye candy; Core Power yoga is a few doors down and there are always tons of attractive women coming outta there. And for the ladies, 1 block down is the Undisputed fight gym, so you see a lot of good looking in-shape fighter guys.

Ordered: Spicy scallop roll ($4), try this roll ($7).

"Try this roll" is spicy tuna inside /  albacore & ponzu sauce on the outside.

BF and I literally walked in with a cheap sushi craving - and was pleasantly surprised to find cheap prices and even ELATED at the quality of the fish! I've never thought I could describe a sushi joint having ridiculously low prices and high quality of fish - but this one does it!

I can't wait to try Happy Hour here :)

Yes, the sake/beer drink special is great and will probably keep them in business for quite a while. But if you are actually interested in the food, it's nothing special.
Our sushi rolls all tasted basically the same and they use too much jalapeno and other spicy ingredients. It's pretty hard to enjoy raw fish when it's overpowered by jalapenos. I've actually had really delicious sashimi with jalapenos at a couple of other restaurants, but Riki's doesn't measure up.
The menu selection is run of the mill, like what McDonald's would serve if they had sushi. The service wasn't very good either.

Not a bad local sushi spot for North Park. Clean, great service, and prices are amazing!

Here's what a friend and I got and what you definitely need to get:

    - Spicy Hamachi Handroll 3$
    - Yellowtail Special Roll 8$
    - Sushi Combo 11$ (8 pieces of Nigiri)
    - Spicy Scallop Roll 3$?
    - LARGE sake and LARGE beer for ONLY $5.25!!

Their large sake and beer for $5.25 is ALL DAY EVERYDAY! Great deal! I'll definitely be back!

Went in the other night because I loved RK Sushi and wanted to support. Bad idea. I sat down at the bar at 8:30. They were closing at 9:30 and I asked them if they had time and they said, "No problem." Apparently it was a problem for my server. She made sure to make me feel rushed as I was eating. I got up to use the restroom and she cleared my two hand rolls, half a large beer and sake. I got the hint. The customer at the end of the bar gestured to me as if he couldn't believe what she had just done.

Looks like I should just stick to the old RK Sushi, where it may be loud, but the people are respectful.

Here are the roll I've tried:
Trust Me Roll - Reminds me of a Dynamite roll except there's an addition of scallops.
    Sexy Roll - YUMMY!
Pink Roll - Tuna in the middle topped with salmon and some spicy mayo. It was good.
Shrimp Crunch Roll - Just like other crunchy rolls from other places but maybe a bit better
Washington Roll - My mom's favorite. I thought it was pretty spicy though.
Riki Crunch - Similar to the Snow Ball roll except it has spicy tuna inside.

There's more but overall, they're good.

The thing I like about their menu is that almost each roll had a picture next to it so you can see what they look like and what's inside. I thought it was awesome that they had $3 rolls, $4 rolls and so on. Their rolls were packed tightly, not too loose where it'll break easily.

Parking is not as bad as downtown street-wise but parking can be a (insert word for female-dog). Luckily for me, I found parking pretty quickly (I went earlier in the day for lunch at 1 on a Thursday). Since I lived close, I usually call in to order to go, especially if I know there won't be parking. I'd take a buddy and let them wait in the car while I run in to get the order.

Service was good. The guy kept checking up on us but I felt like he did it every 5-10 minutes but that was no problem.

    Riki Sushi
    SD: North Park
    Monday March 26, 2012
    Four Stars: Overall Value

After watching a documentary on the first Three Michelin Star Sushi Restaurant called "Jiro Dreams of Sushi" I was both hungry and inspired.  So we stopped by Riki Sushi (Between Sipz & El Take It Easy).  We sat at the sushi bar, but the sushi chefs seemed too busy to even say hi.  We ordered Hot Green Tea ($1.99) and Vegetable Tempura ($5) from the waitress.  We then filled out the sushi form, which I hate, b/c I rather have a conversation with the chef about what's good.  After we finish, I hand the sheet to the chef who then handed it to the waitress who inputted it into the POS which sent the order to printer at the sushi station which then played a silly little ditty.  Shortly thereafter the "sushi chef" handed me a giant plate of sushi which I did not order.  Awkward! I had to hand to people sitting next to me.

    Food:

The Vegetable Tempura was a 30 cents mixture of Shredded Carrots and Onions and then fried in Tempura batter. This dish was the retarded redheaded stepchild of vegetable tempura, b/c when I order tempura, it should be fresh whole vegetables fried with a light coating of batter.  They should at least warned me that they do things differently.

The sushi items came all at once on one big plate even though I had 3 different orders of nigiri and they provide me with a sushi geta (Shoe-Like Tray).  It only saddens me, b/c I really like to enjoy my sushi one-piece-at-time as it is made so that the sauce on top of the sushi doesn't soak entirely into the rice.  Also they did not use any of the fish kept in the display boxes so the fish that I thought I was ordering had no bearing on what I actually received.

The sushi rice was delicious.  It combined a collection of sweet, salty, tangy, and umami flavors into each kernel of rice.

The Hamachi Maki Roll ($4) - perfect combo of fish and rice and nori.
Salmon Nigiri ($3)- too firm and.
Red Snapper Nigiri ($3) - made really well.
Octopus Nigiri ($3) - The inside flesh was supple and sweet but the outer skin was tough like truck tire.
The Vegetable Roll ($3) was like a Salad in Rice Paper, but the Wakame (seaweed) was delicious tasting.
The Asparagus Tempura Roll ($7) had an immense flavor and texture.  The Tempura Coating and the Asparagus Tempura gave the crunch, the Spicy Tuna provided a great contrasting smooth texture, the rice was warm, and the hot and salty sauces made this one delicious specialty roll.

The pricing was interesting there at $3, $4, $5, $6, $7, $8, $9, and $10 Rolls.  The Price to Value ratio was great - our bill for two was under $35.

This place is more of convenient-fast turnover dining experience. Plus the wait staff seemed cold but efficient.  Our meal lasted under 30 minutes.

This is by far one of my favorite sushi places in San Diego.

    It's fantastic.

    The staff is cool. Check.

They have a sake/beer special. Check.

The sushi is good. Check. Get the Hillcrest roll. It's so simple, but so amazing--tuna on tuna, and you can't go wrong. Or if that's too fancy, go for the basic salmon maki--still full of flavor.

The sushi is really really reasonably priced. Check. The most expensive rolls are only $10 (and start at $3)!

Though parking can be a bit of a hassle, this is one of my go-to sushi joints. Good rolls and great prices--this place can't be beat.

Ok so my opinion has definitely changed!!!! the fact that they ran out of green mussels means they don't over order and let it sit!!!

Beer Special $5.25 for a beer and sake is a plus

The oysters are always on point,

For the price, its great.  4 dolla, 5 dolla, 6 dolla, 7 dolla, 8 dolla, 9 dolla, 10 dolla.  Theres a roll for all you guys.  You can fill up your belly with a 20.  The miso soup is good and they give you pickled cucumbers along with the ginger and wasabi.  Plus.
Parking is street.  SO if you DONT live in North Park, leave, cuz i need the table to myself.  Just kidding.  Park on the side streets.
The waitresses are cool.  One of them is super cute.  They are understaffed at times, so sometimes you wait a while.
Call in orders are usually fast and efficient.
THey have a good drink special (5 bucks i think for beer and sake).
Nothing too out of the ordinary.  The sashimi is not that bad.  Its definitely not the greatest but for being inland, its pretty good.

Came here with a friend of mine for lunch, they have a drink special, I'm so sorry but I thought I read it wrong, but you really get a large beer, and a sake! WTH, I thought it was either/or for $5! That's amazing!

We sat at the bar, the sushi chef gave us a cool wooden table thing with ginger, wasabi, and this cucumber salad. I love that cucumber salad, you can order a single serving for$3! Yum and refreshing.

I got the Charger roll, and philly roll. My friend got the caterpillar and spicy California. Our total was $25, super affordable and great service!

I actually can't wait to go back here. If only there were more parking...

Friendly staff, simple decor and a straightforward menu. A little bit of a wait on a Friday night but nothing bone crushing.

I shared a couple of appetizers with my friend, all of which were all good: edamame, vegetable tempura, and yaki gyoza. Actually, I thought it was really interesting that our vegetable tempura came out as this seafood looking hybrid. They like jam some stuff together and make it into this star like shape. It was pretty good. But a little off putting having never encountered this before.

My favorite part of the evening though was the Riki Roll. I've been dreaming about it since! Perfectly executed. The sake combo really seals the deal. This is a great place to start out the evening. You can eat then walk to any number of bars of clubs on 30th.

Cheap and sweet. Just be prepared to stalk parking spaces.

Riki Sushi is a really great sushi place.

The prices here are super affordable and they have decent-sized portions as well as great happy hours (1 sake and 1 beer = the price of 1 sake).

We were served by four people and never had to ask for the bill or the water, so excellent customer service and the wait for two is usually 1-5 min. But, the wait for three or more is usually around 5-15 minutes.

Overall, my experiences in Riki have been good, so I'm definitely coming back.

Riki sushi has some of the best sushi in the North Park area. Sadly parking and service are both lacking.

Riki is amazing for a couple of reasons, first it's specialty sushi rolls are to die for (try the lobster beach roll, food of the gods right there), second, their drink special of a large bottle of beer and a bottle of hot sake for 5.25 is awesome.

Unfortunately parking is touch and go depending on the time and day you decide to go. Weekends and evenings in North Park are dreadful, if you find a space its likely to be a few blocks away, (that said the sushi is totally worth it). I recommend swinging by for lunch during the week, that way you aren't circling the area for half an hour trying to find a space.

The second little problem is the service, normally there are two or three waiter/esses and a couple of guys behind the sushi bar itself. However when they're busy (again usually on weekends or evenings) it may take a while to get something as simple as a drink, and the servers tend to be a bit brash.

You may also want to find another place if you don't like a lot of noise, oftentimes when they're busy you can hardly hear the people sitting at your own table.

Ultimately its up to you if you want to hazard the street parking and iffy service in for some of the greatest custom rolls in San Diego.

I really don't know if everyone had the same sushi I had. But I hope you were intoxicated prior to your visit. There were so many point deductions to this place, it's mind boggling how they have 4 stars!

I came here the other night (Wednesday) and it looked pretty busy inside already. We were not greeted by anyone upon arrival. About 10 minutes later, after lingering around, standing by empty tables, a server came by and said to have a seat and that he'd be right with us.

The restaurant is small and the noise level is SO LOUD you could barely hear yourself think. You couldn't even hear what song was playing through their stereo. I practically had to yell across the table to communicate with my companion.

With bad service and environment off the bat, the only way to turn the experience around would be some orgasmic type of food.....but that didn't happen.

We ordered the Sexy Roll, El Fuego, Shrimp Tempura & a Spicy Tuna hand roll. Sushi came out in a timely manner, but they forgot about the Shrimp Tempura. We had to ask them a couple of times to check on that order. And when it finally came out (we were almost done eating already) it was just a 3 piece appetizer. The batter is as thick as the thin shrimp that nestled inside. I can't eat sushi without spicy mayo, and we had to ask for that twice before it came out which took almost 10 minutes (shouldn't take that long to squirt some spicy mayo in small plate)

The food wasn't anything to boast about. Ive had the Sexy Roll at RK Sushi, so I already had a preconceived idea of how that would taste. The El Fuego... nothing hot about it, chili on top wasn't even spicy. This can be comparable to any other 2 star sushi out there. If you think this is 5 star quality sushi, then you've probably never had actual 5 star sushi before.

I really wanted to like this place, and it's hard not to provide a good experience to your customers when it comes to sushi. However, this place was a disappointment.

Great food & prices, but this review was unfortunately inspired by lousy service. My server didn't smile; no "how are you" ...and when I ordered, he walked away without saying anything (like, did you hear me?) and when he brought the goods, he dropped it heavily on the table and again walked away. At this point I felt like leaving - and probably should have. NEVER asked me how everything was, and he dropped the bill off without a thank you. I thought maybe he was having a bad day, but he had no problem joking with the chefs.
I don't know what I did to deserve this treatment. I'm pretty nice & don't ask for much.
DENNIS - Server with the shaved head: You're a fucking douche, dude.

Great affordable sushi restaurant! We came here on a Sunday evening at 7pm and it wasn't busy at all. We had great service! Our server was really friendly and nice. She came around regularly to check up on us and to refill our waters. She was very on point and we appreciated it.

We had the Riki Crisp appetizer and it was a basically a deep fried sushi roll with crab, jalapeno, cream cheese, and crab. It also came with a salad and it was so good. The salad dressing had a citrus and sweet flavor.

The Protein Roll had a variety of fish and wrapped in a soy wrapper and cucumber. So good if you're avoiding carbs. The spicy tuna hand roll was STUFFED with spicy tuna and not a lot of rice, which I prefer. The fish was very fresh.

My husband really liked his pork katsu. It was a nice size cutlet and not too thin or thick.  It came with a nice salad and side of rice.

We ordered 2 appetizers, 1 sushi roll, 1 hand roll, and the pork katsu plate and the total was $32 without tip.

Cheap sushi = okay food. The gyoza is cheap but they're basically filled with air with barely any meat/stuffing inside. Sushi was okay.

Affordable sushi with sizable portions?! Yessss!

This is a great spot to go with a group. Make sure you get the sake/beer special, as you won't be disappointed. Don't expect too much out of the service, though. There was only one waitress for the whole place when our group went, and her mission was to take our order and get the food to us pronto, not smile and chat. That's why you bring your friends, anyway.

    Domo arigato Riki sushi!

I had become so accustomed to viewing Riki as a sushi spot, I never stopped to take a look at their lunch specials.  The amount of food is ridiculous and in my case the Salmon Teriyaki was made just right.  The price to heft ratio of their lunch boxes is so great that I was a little worried they might tackle me on my way out for stealing from them!  (Don't get any funny price-raising ideas Mr./Ms. manager, when it comes to stars I giveth and I taketh away!)  Combine any of their lunch specials with a roll or two and you have created one of the best value budget feasts, not including tortilla, that I could imagine.

I have been here several times and I love it.  I'm not going to tell you that this is the best sushi restaurant in town, unfortunately I am not yet qualified to make that call, and if I was I would expect that after comparative analysis, my knock on Riki would be that they, like many affordable purveyors of nigiri, rely a bit too heavily on Spicy Tuna to class up their signature rolls, however, if you are down for some delicious and inexpensive rice rolled goodness, do not miss Riki, it is thus far my favorite and is sure to please... unless of course your wallet is made from the skins of rich people who are still poorer than you, and in that case, you probably aren't reading this.

    LOVE IT!

1 - $5.25 large sake and large beer  - Best deal ever!
2 - SUSHI = GOOD! I could be impartial because I'm always pretty drunk by the time I get the sushi, but it's good stuff (see #1)
3 - They are so efficient! The minute we sit down, drink orders are placed.  The minute my water level gets low, someone is there to fill it up.  One time,  I put an empty glass of beer and sake at the edge of the table and thirty seconds later, they were there with a new beer and sake!!!

Every time I go there, it is packed, which just shows how popular it is.  Despite how busy they are, the service is always on point, and they somehow manage to get people in and out quickly.

I've gone there many times and will continue to come again :)

I came here the first time with my girlfriend because we were in the area.  We came in around 3 something in the afternoon and no one was there.  BEST THING EVER.  The waitress the first time we went was REALLY nice.  We got three rolls (You can see them on my pictures).  They were GOOD.  I don't know exactly what it was, but they were good.  The menu is very nicely set up so it's easy to stay within a price range.  I like this place a lot and have somehow become a regular(at least according to Yelp).  I HIGHLY recommend this place!

NOTE: It can get busy at nice for dinner and in the afternoons for lunch, so the best bet is to come between the two times.

I used to live down the street from the original Mission Hills spot (RK Sushi) on Washington Street.  I was in there all the time.  I moved to North Park and luckily for me they moved with me, I'm still within walking distance which is good luck x10.  This place is as affordable it gets for sushi and it's good, not ridiculous amazing but pretty damn good.

The drink special for 5 bucks large sake and 22oz beer is awesome.

Some of the rolls are really good, some of them are a little too saucy for me.

I tend to ask what their freshest fish is and it's definitely always above average.

The Japanese Style Oysters are too good to describe in written word.  They're a new addition to the new location, and they aren't always available.  If they are "in stock" and you like oysters, then TRY THEM!

The staff is great, a few originals from RK Sushi, some new, all awesome.

Anyone who rates this place low isn't comparing it to comparable sushi spots.  You can't compare this to Sushi Ota in Pacific Beach.  Sushi Ota will blow this place out of the water.  But you'll leave Riki Sushi with a $20-40 bill and Sushi Ota with a $200+ bill.  You compare Riki Sushi to Sushi Deli and it's undoubtedly WAY better than Sushi Deli.

Simple and plain; this spot is really good and really affordable.

I was there at their North Park location this past Saturday and had my usual (there's always one waitress there that isn't always on top of her game but I never mind because I'm in good company while we wait)  The experience was as usual, great dinner & delish sake.

Well, I just checked my account today and noticed that whoever took the bill, decided to throw in a couple extra bucks in the tip option for themselves.  I specifically know this because we tipped CASH and when I signed for my credit card authorization, I wrote a straight line through the "tip" option & just put the total of what was charged for my portion.

This is incredibly sketchy & shady for a company to be doing, especially when they're still somewhat new in the area. Luckily I check my bank account & keep all my receipts and always write on my copy of the receipt, what I tipped.

Dear Riki, please keep track of your sketchy employees and fire them immediately.

    SUSHI LOVERS AHOY!

Do you want tuna so stale it looks like hamburger meat?

Are you craving for pieces of HAIR in your wasabi?

    How about awesomely mediocre service?

If so, Riki Sushi is the place for YOU!

Yea this place is cheap, but you can go to sushi deli and get more bang for the buck.  This is like the Subway of sushi.  Appears to be affordable, fresh, and relatively fast.  Instead you get a footlong of junk.  Oh and if I was running a restaurant and a customer found a 2 inch piece of HAIR in the wasabi, I'd do more than look at the plate funny and come back with a new one (i.e. an apology, ritualistic suicide if you're feeling really repentent).

    Enjoy!

Food was decent and they had a great happy hour! A large sake and beer for $5!! I got the 3x4 sashimi. Unfortunately, their sashimi slices were pretty thin. I'm not sure about the other food at the place since it was my only time there.

Another down side is there's no parking, which is pretty much the case for North Park and the restaurant is quite small so there seemed to be a bit of a wait to sit. Other than that, this place was pretty good despite the thin slices of sashimi.

The staff and service was really good! They were extremely patient with us bc we were waiting for a friend and they always checked on us every 5 minutes to fill up water or to make sure our orders were good.

Riki is a staple for me and my friends. You're always a winner at Riki with the $5.25 drink special (large sake and large beer). It's funny how after they opened in NP, other bars/restaurants started offering the same special to try and compete.

My go to is the Sexy Roll or Tempura Udon. El Fuego is pretty damn good as well.

The only problem, which I let Dennis know every time I go, is that they need dessert. DENNIS PLEASE GET DESSERT!

I've tried a lot of local sushi places in San Diego -- cheap and expensive, fancy and down-and-drity -- but Riki Sushi has come out on top consistently. Not only is the owner/manager super nice, the food is flavorful, tasty, there's almost never much of a wait, and it's not expensive.

While the ambiance at Riki Sushi is average and the acoustics are intense on a Friday or Saturday night (get ready to talk really loud), the consistently yummy food (ginger!) and reasonable prices keep me coming back, probably more than I should.

That's so weird, I could have sworn I reviewed this place guess not. I haven't been here within a month so I don't know what has changed. But I absolutely love this place. I wish it was located elsewhere though because the parking sucks. One time my friend and I circled around the neighborhood like 4 times before finding parking.

Every time I dine here, there isn't a lot of people. I don't see why not, the sushi here is actually pretty good. Maybe I just go when it is least busy. Love the sushi here, not once was I ever disappointed. The pricing is decent too. There's categories from I believe $3 to $10 rolls. Or was it $5? I'm not sure.

This place hits the spot, I leave here every time happier than before.

    The rolls I've tried are:
    The sexy roll
    Washington roll
    El Fuego
    Riki Crispy
    Try this roll
    Pink roll

&that's actually all the rolls I can remember. Sorry I can't give a description of them. Just know that they're good!

Barely noticed this sushi place a few months ago and decided to walk here after drinking a few brews down the street at Toronado.

After walking inside we were told we could sit anywhere which I always love to hear. I just hate being told where to sit. The menu is real straight forward and the sushi rolls are broken down by dollar amounts. This might seem a little tacky but it helps determine which rolls you can afford on whatever type of budget you have.

I ordered a few rolls such as the yellowtail special, rainbow roll, and the R.K. roll. It was alright sushi and did have some quality to the fish but I wasn't happy with the yellowtail roll because of how spicy hot it was. In my opinion, those sauces ruin the taste of the fish. It seemed as though almost every sushi roll on the menu had a sauce on the roll which just isn't my type of sushi. I doubt I would be eating here again, but nice place and location.

Great spot to hit for cheap sushi before a night out in northpark. Their sexy roll, calamari, and mixed tempura is good and you can't beat $5.50 sake+beer combo!

Very cheap prices on good, fresh sushi rolls.  I also love the seaweed salad that is complimentary.  Another thing I'll be back for is their large sake and beer special for $5.95.  Crazy good deal.  I love a good deal, especially involved sushi and booze.

The place is popular and probably could use another server or two to accommodate, but perhaps that is how they keep the prices low.  Be prepared to wait for a table and for service.

OK - have given this place multiple chances and there has always been some kind of awkward mess up . Last time was the worst - they spilled and broke an entire bottle of beer and broke glass ALL over me and proceeded to to comp JUST my drink! I was embarrassingly drenched!!! They are way too unclean  as well as that same night we the sushi chef cough ALL over his hands as he was making mine and the rest of the restaurants rolls. It seems the owner is a kid opening his first garage style restaurant and not really getting what makes people want to come back!!

I really like sushi but thankfully i'm not a sushi snob.  I tend to like places that are good but also cheap and this place fits the bill on many of their sushi items.  They have a menu they break down into various price categories so you could get a $3 roll up to a $12 roll with everything in between.  I have been here twice, both times for lunch and left more than filled for about $12 including tip.  They also have the $5.25 beer and sake combo that seems to be offered by the other sushi places in the area too.  I had that the first time and for this light weight drinker it really F'd me up.  So definitely a cheap way to get drunk if you are into that type of thing.

If you like Sushi and are in North Park this is a must stop! The staff was very friendly and the sushi was outstanding!  Prices are pretty reasonable for sushi and they have a decent menu.

They do offer a take out service and the rolls are pretty good.

I haven't dined inside but while I was waiting for my order everything that passed by me made me even hungrier.

I would eat here again without hesitation!

Pros: Cheap Sushi and great taste.

Cons: The waitress tried to tell my cousin how to pronounce "tofu" by saying "Taw-fu" Yes, she was white.

    What the.
