Review from Darren M.

The second last time I was at this theatre I came equipped with free passes for myself and a friend but we were amused to find that no one was working the front entrance and the show was about to start.
The guy behind the counter serving drinks looked really busy and had a long lineup so after waiting around for a bit and seeing others just walk right in we decided to do the same. I came out for snacks and then gave the guy behind the counter my gift cards so they were redeemed but I was quite surprised to see that no one was checking tickets or controlling who was coming and going.
It's a shopping mall cinema so the patrons are usually teens or kids but it's handy for people who live in the Market or Centretown and don't want to commute to the shows in the 'burbs.
What isn't playing at the Word Exchange theatre (also downtown) can usually be found here.
It's fairly clean and the seats are comfortable but the seating is not raised very well so you will probably be at a disadvantage to sit near the back of the place. -

The Rideau Centre Cinemas are located on the top floor of the Rideau Centre.
They are convenient for University students and shoppers alike, but badly in need of an update. I even found the theatre I was in in the winter to be cold!
Once in a while they get a good movie here, but most of them seem to be those that didn't make it into the bigger theatres. I did get to see Madagascar 2 here though.
Like the rest of the theatre, the snacks could be improved, there are not many.
If you are already shopping here or live close by, then see a movie here, otherwise I would go somewhere nicer. -

I've been here a couple of times to watch older movies. They tend to show films that have been out for quite some time, or ones that aren't very popular. They have, however, recently been trying to make an effort to show newer and bigger, high-budget films.
Ticket prices are a little lesser than larger movie theatres and its location is convenient when you're randomly in the mood to watch a movie while you're at the mall.
They only have three movies at a time, though, and the theatres are really old, so it really just depends on what kind of viewing experience you're willing to settle for. -

Despite its prime location in the centre of town in the Rideau Centre, I avoid this theatre the most. Only the worst movies seem to play on their three screens. This ties into the main reason I don't like this theatre: it's 75% teenagers who don't shut up. Therefore, the movies this theatre plays tend to gear towards teens (e.g., High School Musical 27, some bad horror movie, etc.) The price is also the same as anywhere else ($10).
So unless you can't make it to the nearby ByTowne or World Exchange theatres, I would highly suggest you avoid this theatre.
One perk: movies are only $8 on Tuesdays.
