Besides being left a bit awkardly at the front for a while before being seated, Ric's was fantastic. Helpful service, great food and a lovely evening. I highly recommend this place for a nice night out.

Not bad, but not good.
I see from reading other reviews that this location used to be good at one time, but I see even from David's review that it seemed to an establishment that brings shame to the Ric's Grill name over time.
After being used to the quality at the Edmonton location, I was really disappointed in this rendition of a Ric's Grill location. Everything - the service, the food quality, the location, were all no better than an Applebee's or Kelsey's. Not that there is anything wrong with those, actualy the service is probably better that I've seen on them, but then I know that I'm paying a lower price for the food too.
The service was slow and seemed disorganized. The servers were all very nice but they were very robotic in their service and the other half gave off a very cold vibe. The manager was present but didn't bother to take the time to talk to any tables that I could see.
It's a steakhouse, so they should pride themselves on steaks. Also being a steak house, all the servers should be trained to checke on how well the steaks are cooked within no more than 2 minutes of the food being brought out. In our case, I didn't receive a quality check on my steak until well after everyone at my table had finished their meal. And I'm not going to eat the steak I ordered as rare, if it comes out medium. Yuck. I'm not putting down people who like steaks cooked over medium rare but I'm not going to pay more than $35 for a steak that tastes like cardboard to me. Of course, I didn't take a bite out of it, but had to rush through eating it after they brought out a properly cooked one (if it were a restaurant who didn't charge so excessively much for the quality of service and food they offered I probably would have just taken it to go and not mentioned the issue, but I'm not going to pay that much for a chunk of charcoal). They took the plate and everything on it by the way, and only returned the steak. I guess I missed out on not eating all my vegetables by the time they decided to do their quality check. The steak was fine when it came out.
Anyway, I ate my food well after everyone else had finished eating, and when I was done, they offered me a "free dessert for their mistake" OOOH. $8 dessert, when my whole dining experience was ruined by having to eat by myself. I don't eat dessert, but thanks for the "considerate" gesture. Any decent establishment I've worked at would have comped the meal, how disappointing.
No thanks Ric's Grill Calgary, next time I will just eat at home and avoid the headache, the food for sure was not worth it.Listed in: YIKES, never again..., Steakhouses & Fine Dining

Review from Marc K.
We were trying this one out for dinner. The atmosphere was appealing and we got a table on Friday night without any reservation, but with the time it was getting busy. We had a steak and a shrimp/scallop pasta dish. All over we paid a lot for a mediocre steak and pasta. It was definitely not worse the money we paid.

What a difference a few months make. Service was professional cold. Steaks were smaller and less juicy/tender. Bill is higher. This place gets a downgrade. Based on this I-can't-believe-it experience, Ric's is not recommended. There is better elsewhere in town.

I am not much of a steak and taters kinda girl, but I must say that when I have a hankering for a nice slab of beefy goodness, this is my absolute go to place.
Sure the Keg has a nice steak too but Ric's is much classier, they take reservations and the staff are all very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I have been to Ric's several times this year and every time I was more than pleased, and that is hard to do.
Ric's has an extensive menu, I have had their their pride and joy - their steaks, which I might add, are some of the best I've annihilated, they are always done perfectly and their sides are always nicely presented.
The lunch menu is fantastic as well. The Maderia chicken platter is divine and the halibut is as good as Mercato's. Everything is obviously very fresh and there is a lot of talent in the kitchen.
Love the decor, huge bar, and it is surprisingly kid friendly. All the staff was dressed professionally and no younger staff members were being prostituted (you know who you are), so that is always a bonus!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, if it wasn't so far from my house this would be my second home. Price is moderately expensive, but you get what you pay for here. -

Ric's is my standby steakhouse when I want a consistent delicious steak but don't want to try anything new.
I always opt for the ribeye and stuffed potato. My steak is always cooked perfect to order and somehow they get a lot of flavour in to that potato.
There isn't anything amazing about this place, but there isn't anything bad either. Just good and consistent when you want a predictable meal.
The pricing is very standard with other steakhouses. -

Ric's offers a first-rate filet mignon and a good atmosphere to enjoy it in. We chose to sit outside, but the inside is nice and not over-the-top steaky....
The filet mignons we all had were cooked to perfection and juicy and tender. The server seemed to leave us alone (not sure if that's good or not, but we never went dry) and enjoyed the whole experience. Even when it started to rain and everyone else packed up and took shelter, we stayed outside, simply sliding the table under the eavestrough of the entrance to the condos next door. Some of the tenants looked concerned, but most didn't mine that we were eating steaks in their main entrance and the waitress didn't either. She understood the customer is always right and why would she want to start trouble?
Anyway, very good place to grab a good steak downtown. A little pricey, though.... -
Review from Mike R.
The food at Rics is expensive but for the cost there is great value. All the entrees come with a salad or soup as a starter. They also provide bread, to snack on till the starters arrive.
It's a great place for a nice romantic date. -
Review from Tim L.
The decor is pretty standard for a steakhouse with the dark rich textures abundant all over the restaurant.
What was the best experience was our waitress. During her outlining of the various cuts, she correlated which part of the body they came from by pointing them out on herself. We all thought that was hilarious.
Although food is pricey, in general steakhouses are pricey and by no means is Ric's more expensive than any other place you'd go to expecting a good steak dinner.
Overall I had a great tasting steak cooked perfectly to my request, impeccable (and humourous) service all in a comfortable environment. -
