Guess what a little birdie told me... Face lifts aren't just for LA anymore (kidding!) Another face-lift for my hometown mall!

Richmond Centre's food court is getting a lift, literally.  The Famous Players that used to be in this mall has closed down and now a food court will be moving on up and filling it's old theatre studios. As a result, that leaves the old food court area open for more shops.

As stated in the beginning, this was heard from a little birdie - who knows how reliable they are, right? But regardless, Richmond Centre is going through a lot of renovations in that area, so the food court is less than spectacular and the seating has been moved to the main walking area - looks pretty depressing.  But I'm sure once all the huff-puff dirty work is done, this mall is another step closer to running with the big gun malls. Take that Metro!

If you are in Richmond, and you are in need to let some dough come out of your wallet, or purse, this is the stop, and over the years it has expanded and added some pretty good, if not crowd bringing stores to bolster the roster. Sometimes walking around this mall is a challenge due to the size. It is really only one floor, compared to other shopping centres outside of Richmond, but that can make for some good walking from one end of the mall to another.

The one true complaint I have about this place is the parking, it can be a zoo at prime time hours. Circling aimlessly around hoping for some soul that just walked out of the mall to jump into his/her car so you can start your shopping. Traffic does not move here on the weekends, but that just tells you the popularity of the mall. A huge food court, which is strategically located in the centre of this place, and businesses nicely spread out, it does not feel cramped. Amazing that this place still has a theatre, even though your not getting the 'Silver City' size sound and screen, it is convience, instead of going out to the farm lands to catch a flick.

If food court is not your thing, there are restaurants in this place, from your White Spot, to even a Pearl Castle. They do not have the mass expensive brands, but there is no Walmart in here either, all middle of the line big name brand stores.

If you are coming in here, and you want to find parking, come later, or go to the back, not the No. 3 Road facing side, and you should be alright. And a big plus is the Skytrain now goes here!

For most of your shopping needs, Richmond Centre is the place to be.  For consumer products, they pretty much have you covered.

Recently the S end of the mall underwent a major renovation where they added some more stores and more corridor space.  This was probably a wise decision, as the mall was pretty dead on this end back then.

The parking lot is big, but there isn't always enough. Anyone who has lived here will tell you about the time spent circling and fighting for a spot.  Even though it's a bit far, I recommend parking near the Sears end, and going into the parkade if need be.

I lied in my last review. Richmond Centre doesn't have an H&M, I thought that's what they were building but it turned out to be Forever 21. I didn't think I'd like that type of store, but it ain't bad actually.

They keep changing the mall in small subtle ways and every time I visit Richmond Centre it feels like a store has disappeared, or moved or a new wall has been installed where there used to be a giant corridor, but change is good and I like that this mall is starting to evolve from boring to at least ascetically pleasing.

I still think it has mall envy.

If you know me, via Yelp, you'll understand, for me to give out 4 stars for a mall is a momentous occasion!

I luv the fact the skytrain/lightrail/gift from the Gods, stops here every 15 minutes or so.  With 250 shops to check out, you'll need to plan to be here, a long time...

Clean, has parking, and well, should you happen to drive 3 hours from Seattle to get here, they have parking.

Oh, and least I forget, they have a White Spot and Tim Horton's!!  Thank God....

I happened to be staying at one of the nearby airport hotels and had a few hours to kill before I was to fly out of Vancouver. Oh how sad I was to leave.

When I asked the concierge and hotel people about nearby stuff to do, they completely left this place out. From the outside, you can't really tell that there's a really cool mall inside (at least from Westminster St.). I was told to go to Lansdowne which was a further walk and quite disappointing.

Richmond Centre has lots of good shops and you can easily kill some time here. It's near a Skytrain line (that just opened).

Wow, I decided to visit RIchmond Centre again. The last time I was here was about 2 years ago. Wow, there seemed to be a few renovations done in the mall and it was just in time for the 2010 Olympics. Even during the Christmas season on the weekend, this mall isn't as busy as Metrotown and it feels comfortable, clean, classy, modern and refreshing. There are lots of stores, and they seem to have the right amount of stores. You won't find store overload at Richmond Centre, but you will at Metrotown. You don't have to go up the escalator or stairs at Richmond Centre because  there is only one floor. GREAT! There is a fairly large food court and the washroom renovated and are super clean. They're the cleanest and nicest washrooms I've been in a mall in the Lower Mainland and it's comparable to the very upscale Wynn Esplanade Mall washrooms  in Las Vegas for cleaniness.

Richmond Centre mall just seems so civilized and calm. There is almost a zen like atmosphere to it.  I have to say this is probably one of the best malls in BC.

Clean, bright, cheerful -- and they have an Apple Store. OK, I'm not going to hide the fact that I now measure malls by this metric, because even if the rest of a mall might ordinarily be quiet, an Apple Store will usually be fairly busy, which acts as a magnet for the curious. There's a halo effect, which is one reason mall landlords covet Apple Stores.

Another Mall, but this one is not about Vanvover. This is about our great and original shopping mall in Richmond.  Yes, it was here back when Landsowne was still racing horses in circles.  It has always been the predominant shopping centre in this town and will always be.  If you happen to come to Richmond and want to shop for pretty much about anything, then come here first.  You can go to the Asian Malls after.

Decent food court, great shopping, and not so bad eateries within.
Flanked by the Bay and Sears and everything else in between.  A person could spend hours just shopping.

This place has the power to make you get at least one thing before you leave.  You can't just come here and not buy something.
    An example below:
When she was waiting for me to pick her up at the mall.  She ended up buying a lovely summer dress that she normally wouldn't have bought if she werent' there. Now, If I were on time to pick her up in the first place and had not gone to the wrong place (hah, is it a guy thing? I seem to have done this before...Maybe it's just me, I got so excited and then lost my train of thought) she wouldn't have been there and had to buy that dress she saw in the store while waiting for me. Such is the power of window shopping here.

Or when shopping with Parental units 1 and 2. (we'll just call them PU1 and PU2.  There is also the Grandparental unit which we'll call GPU).
So when shopping with the PU's, it's usually me sitting with PU2 while PU1 shops.  PU1 doesn't just shop.  She peruses and while she's looking for something she likes, there are about a 1000 things in the stores that she doesn't.  Wrong colour, wrong size, wrong shape etc.  Store clerks flock to her asking to assist and they do. They really do.  In most instances PU1 doesn't find what she's looking for, but will hesitantly end up with something, just that it's never really perfect.  All the while PU2 is fussing about how PU1 has to shop and take so long.  Now if we bring GPU then PU2 and GPU will have a speed walking contest between .5kph to .75kph, maybe slower.  A slo-mo speedy shuffling of the feet propelled by little farts of noxious exhaust and giggles or grumps (depending on who's in the lead) and taunts.  The winner to the food court table has a smile and a smirk, punctuated by the song performed by Annie Oakley and Frank Butler.  GPU is Annie Oakley and PU2 is Frank.
    Anything you can do,
    I can do better.
    I can do anything
    Better than you.

    No, you can't.
Yes, I can. No, you can't.
Yes, I can. No, you can't.
    Yes, I can,
    Yes, I can!

    Anything you can be
    I can be greater.
    Sooner or later,
    I'm greater than you.

No, you're not. Yes, I am.
No, you're not. Yes, I am.
No, you're NOT!. Yes, I am.
    Yes, I am!

Followed by a little celebratory jig to commemorate the little triumph de jour.

Sometimes PU2 will find one of his friends shuffling about the mall "Hey! I know you!" and they'll sit and have coffee.  They'll chat together, keep each other company and oggle at the ladies as they walk by.
Someday that will be me at the Richmond Centre mall.

So this place is also a place not only for shopping, but for gathering and meeting of the minds between friends and family.  It's a repository of people coming here to connect with whatever their needs are.
Yes you may see a smattering of men huddled in a corner of the mall looking lost and forelorn.  They may be waiting for their Wife or GF units to come rescue them after hours of exploratory shopping.  There will be teens zipping around and yakking about boys or girls or boys and girls.
You may see couples walking around in this labrynth, holding hands, (or not). The male unit, usually looking lost and forgotten, always a smile on his face and hope in his eyes, but the posture showing a slight slump of submission and endurement. The woman animated, pointing her finger to stores she wants to enter and they follow where ever the arm is pointed like it's attached to the end of a fishing rod and being reeled in.

    As for me?
Emasculated? No.  I think not.  Discerning, understanding, considerate, patient, loving, caring and the list goes on, yes.  Ultimately, I just know that if I am those things, I will have my shopping experience rolled up into one!  I love this mall. Shop on.

Richmond Centre is one of the more neutral malls in Richmond without being as honger as Parker Place or as Lansdowne.  The mix of stores here are interesting and diverse, with a decent theater and arcade.  Ever since its major renovation, the food court is now more impressive than ever and the spacious parking and constant public transportation spots make this place a convenient spot.

This is a mall for teenagers who have nothing better to do than to walk aorund, shop, or look for a mall job.  This is also where I was able watch a rated R movie at age 14 and for that I am eternally grateful.

I *heart* Richmond Centre and totally took it for granted when I lived here. In Miami I have to hit 2-3 different malls to do all the things I could do at Richmond Centre! The trick is to park on top near The Bay, there are almost always plenty of spots, even during the busy holiday season! The layout is easy to navigate and it's great that the mall opens at 9:30 rather than 10:00. I feel like it's a larger mall that just cuts out all the crappy stores and only houses retailers that people actually WANT to shop at. Also so convenient that there is a Coast Capital and a Shoppers Drug Mart in the mall! I hear that H&M will also be opening soon - another reason to love this mall.

I have a weakness. It's called the mall. Whenever I find myself working or studying close to one, I find my gratefulness to Visa for granting me credit increasing.

The story's no different when it comes to this mall: Richmond Centre. Expansive and bright, with hundreds of stores carrying products and services to suit people of all ages, RC also hosts plenty of fashion shows, musical performances, holiday events, and exercise programs (free tai chi weekday mornings!).

The other nice thing about this mall is the variety of businesses it includes, many of which are smaller or independent, and can't be found in other shopping centres. Of course, there are the usual suspects -- The Gap, Aritzia, Banana Republic, La Senza, Guess, etc. -- but it all contributes to a complete (and thoroughly satisfying!) one-stop shopping experience.

And don't forget to refuel in RC's well-stock food court. The newly revamped and relocated Orange Julius is my personal fave after a long day of shopping.

Busy. If you love crowds, come here. Almost every time I come here it seems elbow to elbow, which I suppose it means they have some good shopping.  They do have an Apple store (great crew there!) and good selection at the Sport Chek/ Atmosphere. Other than that, not much stands out.

Richmond Centre is one of the better malls of British Columbia - with a variety of stores that can tickle anyone's fancy! The best thing about this mall is that you won't spend half of your time looking for parking! (yay!). Though the mall is considerably smaller than Metrotown, I find myself sometimes thinking that they have more parking...

Richmond Centre is packed with shops too - from Aritzia and Plenty to Escents and Gap... I have to admit though, my favorite is Maxim's Bakery! Mmmmmm... those tasty treats that you get there make every shopping trip a successful one!

I'm generally not a big fan of malls. Despite their large spaces, it always feels so claustrophobic: crowds of people, kids being pushed around in strollers and running around, aggressive shoppers.. malls always seem like a hotbed for all the most annoying elements of consumer culture!

Anyway, Richmond Centre is no worse or better than most malls. Since Oakridge became such a fashion plate for more high end labels, Richmond Centre gives people a happy median between the trendy, fashion-forward stores and the more utilitarian, family friendly ones. At the moment, the retail spaces are filled with Sports Check, Old Navy, Aritzia, the Bay, La Senza, Jacob, Coles, etc. They also boast a large food court and movie theatre. Their clientele is just as eclectic as the stores they host.

Richmond Centre is not one of the first malls I think of when I want to shop all day and drop some cash. I guess I definitely went there a lot more when I worked right in Richmond, but it just doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling.
For starters it is definitely a teenage hang-out which you will find when you go to the food court. Food court has all the usuals: Starbucks, KFC, Opa, a substandard sushi place, Dairy Queen and others. They have a theatre but I haven't stepped a foot into it yet.
As for hairdressing salons they do have Hennesy as anyone who knows well don't bother walking into it unless you have a couple of hundred dollars in your pocket.
Yes they have a White Spot but is very crowded and busy and I find I always found myself at the bar as it was too hard to get a seat.
Very centrally located right on #3 Road with excellent bus & new skytrain stop close by.
The parking lot is a mess. I have seen more accidents there than anywhere else and that is saying a lot. It is crazy.
My faves like American Eagle and Bluenotes are here and I bought my first Juicy Couture Purse at one of the privately run Asian outlets.
Overall I find they have pricy stores that don't really interest me.
Not that I have anything against Richmond Centre but lets face it we are talking Mickey Mouse in comparison to Metrotown. I just find myself unsatisfied when I shop there and it is the kind of mall I don't spend my usual hours at.
