Review from Monica B.

I was introduced to this place by a Russian friend and was rather excited in this Russian grocery store.
This store has a lot and the people working here are very kind and helpful. The store has a huge deli counter that offers a range of different meats, pickled vegetables, several types of caviar, plain and stuffed blini (Russian pancakes), perogies, fish, piroshky (Russian buns stuffed with meat or rice & mushrooms) and so much more. There was an entire wall of inexpensive chocolate. I'm a fan of chocolate from Russia and stocked up on my favourite- chocolate covered halva and dark chocolate with currant fruit. The store also had a variety of frozen perogies, meat, cheese, beverages, honey, cereal, teas and so much more, all from Russia.
Out of all the groceries I bought, I had some bad experiences with a few items: The blini tasted funky, until I noticed that it was expired. It was my fault for not looking at the expiration date, but I don't think expired food should be on the shelves. The pranik (Russian gingerbread puffs filled with jam) were okay, I've had better; the natural cough syrup was so full of sugar it made my throat worse, and the perogies filled with cottage cheese were so disgusting, my husband and I had to throw them into the garbage. Despite all that, there were many great things that I bought too and will continue to buy, especially the chocolate!
Overall, Rh Europa Deli is an okay Russian grocery store.Listed in: On the Way Home
