Review from Kristina L.
We had breakfast here a few times for free because we were staying at the adjoining hotel, L'Auberge Place d'Armes. Loved the clean, modern lines of the decor and the splashes of color here and there. Breakfast wasn't anything mind-blowing, but still satisfied our appetites. The only bad thing was my home fries were cold, but there wasn't enough time to ask for them to be re-heated.

Perhaps the full bottle of Beaujolais skewed our judgment on the flavor of the meal...but it works in the restaurant's favour. My meal of seared scallops with foam corn was delicious. The creme brulee with vanilla (?) made for a very happy ending.
Service was wonderful. -

After posting my review of Beni on Yelp and TripAdvisor, the owner contacted me on Tripadvisor and was very snippy. He has done this to a few other reviewers as well, not accepting responsibility for the crappy food and service of his restaurant, but instead blaming the reviewer. What crappy management and a crappy owner. Yet another reason to steer clear of this restaurant.

Review from Nat S.
I was impressed that 2 subdued line cooks were swamping the 5 person waitstaff in a 70 cover restaurant. It was an open line and I had a full view. It occurred to me that the only way they could do this is to have a lot prepared food. The pret a manger stuff just req'd a little heat and out it went. It was obvious what came out of the microwave. The main course was outstanding because it was freshly prepared. If the kitchen could add one more cook, make more space on the line, and remove 20 seats the place would be memorable. I ordered a glass of Bordeaux which had turned. I was brought another glass without protest, but it was ice cold.

Went here the first night of our stay in Quebec City, we were so impressed that we returned the following night (even though we were seriously tempted to try Toast instead... a good decision at the end.) We loved almost everything we tried -- especially smoked salmon appetizer, venison entree, risotto with boar, seared foie gras. Yummy salads too, especially the one with duck confit and truffle oil -- downright decadent for a salad, but so delicious. Fondue (too salty) and halibut were the only dishes that we didn't love. Fantastic waiter who was very personable and knowledgeable in food and wine, he also hooked us up with some awesome freebies! Great pastry chef, her "Lemon Pie Splash" dessert is one of most memorable desserts I've had. I also loved her olive oil parfait. Really creative desserts playing with different textures and flavors. I'd return in a heartbeat, should I find myself in Quebec again!

came here only for desset to try their lemon pie splash based on great reviews. but to my dismay, they dont have it anymore because they change their menu every 6 months. so we ended up trying their $10 dark chocolate cake and $8 raspberry parfait with almond, etc. they were just okay and not worth the price. staff were very friendly and accomodating though.
