Recommended by concierge at Hilton. Brilliant. Stood up to the very high recommendation. Wonderful subtle cuisine. Classy atmosphere.

Dinner at this restaurant was extremely enjoyable. I made an open table reservation which was honored. Nicely decorated, and quiet, La Crémalliè offers many interesting French delicacies. I had the Price Fixed dinner. A good deal relatively speaking. I started with Mussel Cassoulet. Outstanding taste and texture and nice presentation. It could have warmer but very good nevertheless. Warmer it would have been spectacular.
Next came a delicious pureed soup. Finally, Ris de Veau. I loved this dish. The sweetbreads were tender and cooked to perfection. The Demi Glace with roasted root vegetables added just the right touch to the viande. Service was professional. All in all a wonderful dinner.

I had high hopes for Le Cremaillere, particularly because of the 5-star reviews I read here. The food was good -- not great, but good. What was really disappointing was the service. We never received a wine list -- we were offered two glasses of wine as pairings with our meal but no actual wine list. Also, I never got to see what I was drinking; the waiter sloshed some wine into my glass and ran off. It was okay wine but again, it would have been nice to choose what I was drinking or to at least know what it was.

My husband definitely ordered the standouts -- a gravlax appetizer and a filet as his main course. I had the special; a snow crab salad to start and the tuna tournedos. The snow crab salad consisted of four tiny pieces of crab and the tuna, while good, had very little going on beyond a few chopped tomatoes on top.

Like our experience with the wine, we were offered a choice of vanilla or chocolate cake as our dessert options (not much of a selection). We had one of each and neither were very good.

FYI, my husband wore a jacket as another reviewer indicated this was necessary -- it isn't.

Possibly the very finest restaurant experience I've ever had.  Exquisite food in a lovely, refined atmosphere.  Impeccable service by career waiters.  The owner was so graceful; he made a point of visiting every table.  This was elegance, without snobbery.  The value was truly excellent.  I shall always remember my dinner here, and can't wait to visit Quebec City again, if only to return to La Cremaillere.

Definitely one of the hidden gems in Old Quebec City.  The food is excellent and the prices are on the low end, given the quality of what is served.  Be sure to put this place on your "must dine at" list when you're in Quebec City.  It's off the beaten path and not listed in most of the tourist literature.  Hence, it's very easy to miss.
