East of Montreal, in hochela-maisonneuve, is a poor neighborhood, and still, there is this masterpiece of Kitsch. Like 1 year ago, a young local journalist published a work about Top spot for Kitsch. What is Kitsch, it's Jardin Tiki! It, somehow, work very well as a business, but the concept is quite akward. Akward isn't really the word to describe Jardin Tiki. Ok let's just start with what is this place. It'a cheap chinese buffet, typical chinese-american food. But when you get there, there's  a cocktail menu with and a hawaian decor. The crowd of Jardin tiki is also quite interesting. Old retired people that live in the surrounding of the restaurant area, poor family coming there to enjoy a cheap but convenient meal, hipsters in love with kitsch and vintage restaurant. Waiters and Waitresses had their golden age a long time ago but still manage to have friendly service. The food is more than average, like, it suck! But the experience, the cocktail (goro drink is served in a fresh pineapple) are cheap like hell. They,re a huge fountain with a dragon and some tiki lamp and some turtle in the fountain + some background hawaian tiki music.  It's kind of weird but funny at the same time. They've have a huge parking and last year it hold the 4th of 5th annual rockabilly festival. Some vintage car. Go there at least once and have the intention of drinking some fancy (and cheap) cool cocktails!

    A place to avoid.
It might have been good 20 years ago, but today, not so much. The decor is outdated, hats off for being able to keep it for all these years, in somewhat decent conditions, but a little change would do the restaurant good.
Bathrooms, avoid. Falling apart. Doors barely close, or stay stuck! That's always fun, of course.
The food, so very little choice.shrimps were not prep. Utensils wise, awkward, big BBQ like utensils to grab your salads is just plain cheap looking.
The salad dressing, who are you kidding? Has Kraft written all over it.
The rice, minute made much? Most of what was left was stuck or burnt at the button.
the vegetables, does your chef know how to cut? You're not feeding horses, do you know how hard and awkward it is to cut a carrot? ( not even steamed or anything, they were just floating in this pot of water...for who knows how long.)
The meat, fat in most of what little pieces I could find.
The duck or chicken, let's just say roasted bird that was on display...I say display because the proper utensils were no where near that thing but instead, those big metal BBQ looking spoons again.
The drinks, I should have known not to expect much, I mean the menu should have tipped me off. It was the same old little plastic menu from back when I was a teenager. The drinks( or should I say slush?) didn't have much in it, alcohol wise. Paid full price, for pineapple juice and deluded alcohol.
The soup, I dare not try it. A Little hot pot plugged near the wall....how interesting...and appealing. Of course, for 16.99$ per person, what more did you expect?
And the music, it was like bad karaoke, except with the same guy singing ALL NIGHT LONG. The type that thinks he can sing, and loves to hug the mic...but the song selection was SO BAD. Youtube had better karaoke versions than he did, and he's supposed to be the entertainer? Professional music, not so much! And to say we all pay extra for the music...I'd rather give to a homeless person on the street.
    Waiters were almost nonexistent.

China town has better quality food, and for lower price, and you don't get food poisoning the next day.
Overall, this place is going down. I can't imagine the kitchens, don't even want to. 20 years ago when I used to go with my family, the place was actually pretty decent. But today, in it's current condition, I highly doubt it will last much longer.
The owners really need to step up, clean the place up,thoroughly. How can you expect to run a restaurant successfully without putting anything in?
