Review from Mike V.
Came back here at dinner with friends and was very impressed. we were given an amazing almost room for our group and very good service. the food was delicious, and the matchbooks were hilarious. some of the martini's were ok but the lychee was delicious. I'd stick with beer tho.
the menu has changed a bit but the octopus, the burger, and the baked brie cheese were all delicious. the scallops are very good but make sure to dip them in the balsamic reduction drizzled around the bowl (or just ask for more if your high school french is still "le magnifique")Listed in: Montreal, Mon Amie

Review from Maheen M.
My SO and I went to Dans La Bouche based on a friend's recommendation for brunch. The restaurant is located in the Mont Royal East area, a cute area that has many shops and restaurants.
I loved the vibe of this place, it was casual yet trendy at the same thing. It is has a loungey feel.
I ordered the eggs benedict sampler called "Me, Myself & i" which was three types of eggs benedict - asparagus, smoked salmon and ham. The hollandaise sauce was the best I had a really long time. The potatoes were perfectly cooked, not overtly greasy. I had a sampling of my SO's roasted apple crepe - "Le Rougement" - it was fantastic. The food was stellar and I will definitely be back when I am in the Montreal area.
The reason for the one star deduction was service was a bit slow. I did not mind too much because I was in good company and my coffee was being refilled.Listed in: Montreal

Great spot on Mt. Royal East. The decor is casual with a bit of a trendy bias, and the people are a good mix of Plateau locals and a few suburbanites fighting to stay current. You wouldn't be embarrassed to take someone on a first date there on a Friday evening, put it that way.
Food is excellent - large plates (you'll roll out of there) at really decent prices. I've been dozens of times and it never disappoints. -

Relaxing, trendy atmosphere. Situated on a corner with open walls during the summer and outdoor seating makes for great people watching. I ordered the salad with avocado (avocat), red peppers, carmelized onion and added some fried calamari to the top. It was amazing... really a perfect lunch. They have an extensive wine list. If I find myself back on the plateau (which I hope I do) I will remember this place and try something else on their menu.
We waited til 2 to order lunch, but they also had an AMAZING brunch menu. Definitely worth checking out. Something for everyone! -

This is my favourite place in Montreal for Breakfast/Brunch :)
It is at the far east end of Mont Royal on the plateau, so truly a local french crowd, staff and yes menus. Even if you don't speak a word of french, it is worth giving this a try.
Their portions are larger than the typical frenchie foofy spots, and are simply delisssshhh. They are open and I've tried for a nice lamb dinner with wine ... but after so many 1pm breakfasts on the weekends, it just hits home to keep it as that for my spot ;).
You'll see the fun Montreal crowd of Friday and Saturday nights here, mostly straight from the clubs or after parties on Sat/Sun morning and afternoon. The other good spots down on Mont Royal like Avenue or Grand Mere Poule or Cora or Les Folies all have their benefits and pluses ... but you can't beat Dans La Bouche. Often the smallest, or no line at all compared to the others on a Sat/Sun aft is a pleasant bonus as well.
Go and enjoy and chill at this one. -

So we traveled quite the distance to get to this place based on the recommendation of our concierge. Lesson learned, never listen to his advice again. Yes they have a very extensive breakfast menu, but its actually quite disturbing how quick the food comes out. Within 5 mins, literally, we got our food. Essentially it makes me think of a fancy diner with large vats of food in the back just waiting to be plated. We had the asperge moi which was an omelette with swiss cheese and asparagus and an eggs benedict. We also had the 2 eggs breakfast with poached eggs, bacon, beans, potatoes, fruit and toast. Really nothing special and knowing that the food has been sitting back there for awhile and not freshly made is disturbing.
