The best meal we had on a recent trip to Quebec City.  The place seemed to be mostly a local hangout, pretty sure we were the only tourists around.

We were having a long lunch, but their brunch looked fantastic.

The appearance of their actual menu on the inside actually kind of speaks bar/diner food, but what comes to the table is so much more.

veau au bleu (veal w/ blue cheese sauce) $20.
    entrecote poivr (steak au poivr)
    indian curry frites $7.50
    cidre miystique
    calvados
    cheese cake
    2 espresso
    1/4 L wine

    $100 + tip

The taste of everything was fantastic, fresh, and even a bit on the unique side.

    Prices were extremely reasonable.

    Bathrooms were very clean.

Service was friendly, efficient, and very attentive.  A+

Sorry to say that the food I was served wasn't up to the standards it used to be.

I have had such good experiences in the past there but it seems like when the opened a second restaurant their standards have suffered.

I had a terrine which was discolored and dry like it had spent 4 days in the fridge. Secondly I had a steak which I ordered blue and came out well done accompanied with a sauce made from powder.

I am very disappointed but I will give them another chance in the future.

On a cold, post-Sylvester afternoon, my girlfriend and I pushed our frozen selves up onto  pair chairs at the bar in the front room. I ordered a creme of rutabaga soup, salad, baguette, and a bowl of flavourful coffee. Hands down, one of the better casual meals I had in QC (which overall - I found a rather touch-and-go situation on the whole - compared to Montreal). It seems the restaurant is just far enough from the old town - a haunt of locals. Honest, earthy, wonderful atmosphere. Fresh ingredients. Talented, knowledgeable wait-staff.  Certainly affordable.
