Review from Ryan M.
Coming from NYC where good Asian cuisine is not in short supply, I was expecting to be underwhelmed. The food here, however, was excellent -- and very well priced. Dinner for two (including appetizers, entrees, desserts and a bottle of the house red wine) ran just $70.
Service was excellent, and owners were very friendly. -

Well this was a strange find for us. We were exploring the bottom part of the old city and in this strange, nearly abandoned, artsy street we came across Asia. Given that our other options near by were sea food places, we settled on some Asian food.
The weather turned to crap so we sat inside. The menu was easy to read and they had a vegetarian option. Everyone but me ordered something meaty.
As I recall, the server spoke English and we had no problem ordering. The food came out a bit later than we hoped but at least the appetizers quieted our hungers.
The veggie plate was mediocre at best. Way too much tofu and not enough veggies. Disappointing. Our friends enjoyed their meals and offered no major complaints -

Good food!
Not great service. Not sure if thats a symptom of this part of the world, or just the restaurant. We waited for a table for 3 of us, when there was an obvious 3-top available for about 10 mins. (No one in front of us.) Then waited for another 10 minutes for menus. (Had to wave over our server.) Then waited for maybe 20 mins to order. Then waited maybe 20 mins to get the soup we ordered to begin with. Then waited another 10 for mains to arrive. I felt horrible -- my mom was starving!
Good food though. Grilled chicken and shrimp over thin vermicelli noodles. Vietnamese staple! Mmmmmmm. Would I go through the wait again? Probably not. Food was good, but it looks like there are tons of other excellent choices in Quebec City. I'll try something (many things!) before heading back to Restaurant Asia.
