Review from Lixia L.
Our tour guide took us here for lunch, and we each had a three course meal for about $20. I can't seem to find the set we had on their online menu...but we had the option of either steak, pork, shrimp, or fish along with soup and dessert. (Maybe our tour guide arranged a deal with them?) There was a lunch menu located in the restaurant, but it was a bit different from what my tour group chose from.
Bread, butter, and soup were good in typical fashion. The steak and greens I had were also delicious (though the steak could have been a bit more moist). What really sold me was the cheesecake at the end. So amazing--it was rich yet the consistency of the cream was light. I ate it slowly and very happily. Like an orgasm in my mouth.
One thing I noticed is that the portions of the entree and dessert dishes had noticeable variation. I didn't mind that my steak was smaller, but having a smaller cheesecake slice kind of made me jelly of some of my tablemates. However, I still ended up full at the end of meal, so I really shouldn't complain.
The place was empty at 11am for lunch. I wonder what the usual crowd is like. It was snowing when we walked in.
I wish I could get a French meal in San Francisco at the price of this restaurant. -
Review from Angry A.
If only the food was as good as the location. Sigh.
Overlooking the Place D Armes and the Fontenac in the background we had high hopes. Food was good and met our expectations. Highlights included the wife's Quiche (4 stars she says) and I had a club. Did I mention that I like bacon and this sandwich did not skimp on the bacon. Crunchy, thick bacon. Mumm bacon.
The kids had a burger (way overcooked) and spagetti (what?, there's MEAT in the sauce, who would put meat in a sauce - I tried it and it was OK)
Our course, it's a little pricey out there in the terrace and our bill came to over $90, but overall it was OK.
Our waitress wasn't fluent in English (we weren't fluent in French either), but we worked together to make it work. Kudos to you Denise #5. Well done
Overall: Food 2 stars, Location 3 Stars, Wait Staff: 4 stars -
Review from Randy S.
We expected a lot more from this restaurant. Right in the heart of Old Quebec City, the menu will run you about $50 per person for dinner and drink, so its not cheap, we expected way better food. Took about an hour to get our food. Lobster was dry, lasagna was dry and re-heated. Our waiter showed he was not happy with the quality of the food also. The service was good, but the food was 3 star at a 4.5 star price. Would not repeat.

Incredible service and food. Husband and I ate here for dinner. Chicken soup with cream, Salmon with strawberry rhubarb and, spiny lobster are terrific. Perfect portion sizes. Establishment created in 1640. Hotel and night life upstairs.
