Again, I'm partial to Marriott hotels!  As a platinum member, my friend & I got a sweet ass upgrade to a room with an awesome waterfront and mountain view.  We didn't have any other building obstructing our view thank goodness!

The best part of the hotel for me was the unobstructed view.  The bedding was super comfy, room was clean, the maid service was decent and room service was also decent.  One thing that I couldn't stand was the fact that the bathroom was tiny!  I'm pretty tall & kept touching the ceiling each time I raised my arm in the shower.

This hotel is also in a pretty decent location.  You can walk out of the hotel and are pretty much a few blocks from most of the things you want to do in Vancouver.  The sea wall is only a hop & skip away, shopping and dining is also close.  Getting to nightlife is a bit of a walk, but you can always grab a cab!  The hotel's concierge was nice, they had lots of recommendations on good places to eat that were within our price range.

In the grand scheme of things, I'd say that this Marriott property is probably on of the best in Vancouver!

Nice staff; well located near the waterfront, Canada Place, and Downtown.  Only thing is that you have to pay for internet in your room, so go to the lobby for free wireless.  Oh, and I'm not sure what this Canadian HST tax is, but we were calling it the "Holy Shit Tax" because it adds on even more taxes to the VAT you already have to pay.  In fact, most EVERYTHING is expensive in Vancouver...

But I digress...the hotel was fine.  I would stay there again if hubby had enough Marriott points to use.  However, I'm a Hilton Gold Level Member, so having to pay for internet in my room is foreign to me, so I didn't like that.  However, I loved the location of this hotel, and the staff (the guy in the gift shop was very nice, as was our bartenderette during Happy Hour!).

The views from this hotel are amazing.

    Apparently.

I could see lots of other buildings.  Not good.  (It was a business trip so I didn't book the room - but I still wish I'd called ahead).

Although recently updated with A-OK decor, the room was small and still felt dated due to old fittings.  It felt overpriced and I will try somewhere else before coming back.

However... there was a saving grace - the food.  The breakfast buffet was great, and the dinner menu also very good.  (Slow Roasted Elk, Bison Bacon and Foie Gras was impressive, and at a reasonable price).  The local Mario sorbets were also very good.

Everything was pretty clean, functional with attentive service.

Make sure you get yourself a room on the highest floor possible facing the water. Otherwise you'll be stuck in a sad little room that you paid much too much for and you'll wish you had checked Yelp a little bit more before agreeing to room 412.

The higher the room the better the view and the view will make your jaw drop and say things like, "Are you serious???" The mountains are green in the summer and snow capped the rest of the year. You'll feel completely spoiled sitting out on your personal patio enjoying the view with a beverage in hand and your feet propped up.

The rest of  the room is pretty boring and not worth typing about so stop reading and start negotiating a higher floor.

Compare to the new Marriott right across the street, this hotel does not seem nearly as nice on the outside, but the room is nice and newly renovated. The room is new, nice and clean; the house keepers do really good job keeping the room nice everyday and this is something I don't see in most hotels I stayed at. the front desk staffs are also really nice. I really have no complaints about the hotel especially for under $100 a night.
Parking is $30 a day but there's street parking right outside that is free from 10pm -8am. If you are like us, we park our car on the street over night and wake up at 7:50am to feed the meter for 2 hours, then be out and about for the whole day. =)

If you paid full price thinking you were getting a full four star hotel, you might be disappointed.

If you did not, and you showed up and found yourself in a large, harbor-side room with a king-sized bed and a private enclosed balcony with an incredible view of the harbor, you'd be churlish if you weren't happy to be there.  The view of the harbor, even from the lowly 6th floor, really was amazing, with the float plane terminal, the surreal, floating Chevron station in the middle of the bay, the deep blue water and the mountains on the other side.  Beautiful.

So beautiful you should be happy to overlook the lack of a mini-fridge to hi-jack to keep your own goods chilled, the TV that needs to be savagely beaten to hold a signal for long, the search light-bright bed-side lights and the energy-saving fluorescent spirals in the bathroom casting an otherworldly and aging glow on your face.

Forget about all that, just go out to the balcony and drink in what you see.

Comfy bed, spread and pillows, too.

Any hotel that doesn't explicitly annoy the hell out of me gets an automatic four stars.

    This is an uncommon event.

Big comfortable beds, alarm clocks that take ipods, LCD tvs with all of the quality boring canadian programming that you shouldn't be watching anyway, and the best hotel breakfast buffet I've had in memory.

I'm sure that the food tasted like actual food items because I was in Canada and the French-tossing mofos would haul the cooking staff into the street and beat them with small bears and geese if they used the crap ingredients that they do in the states.

This reign of terror is my gain.  Go team go.

I was even able to author the drink of the day in the hotel bar.  Bonus for me drinking in the afternoon!  Ask them for the Southern Innocence the next time you're here.

I got lucky in getting this place on an auction site for at a fraction of the cost. I'm sure it was because the hotel is going through some remodeling until May and they were willing to take almost any price to get people in.
It's a great hotel with great service. Everyone answered my questions whenever I had one. Close to all shopping areas, transportation, and Stanley Park.
I would love to be able to stay here again. If I don't get lucky on an auction site, I hope to be able to afford it.

For what people are willing to pay for a harbourside view is astounding at a place like this Renaissance (ahem, Marriot) hotel in Vancouver.  Sure the view is great, but consider the hazy weather of Vancouver will obstruct any good view from October - April.  Prices are a little high for this place, consider staying here during the weekdays.

Style and comfort are key themes here.  The rooms have been quaint during my stays here, highlighted by a super comfy bed and pretty decor.  The customer service here has been fairly decent and don't sell out as often as the other downtown hotels.  Budget inspired folks should steer clear of this place as it is for those who are willing to part with a few (hundred) bucks for comfort and a view.

My experience here is limited to the dining area. Being in the heart of Vancouver's so-called "financial district", this is often where I meet my mom for a quick lunch... "quick" being a loose term since things take a little while here.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, with the clientele being comprised mainly of hotel guests. The food here is nice. Nothing too spectacular. The pizza are exactly as described on the menu, with the crust being thin and crisp. While they don't have much in the way of vegetarian face, there are still a number of dishes to choose from to create a nicely balanced meal... that said, I did order the homemade chips and they were delicious.... So much for a healthy, balanced meal.

Our waiter today was very nice but the food was slow to come out. They could do with having some more assistance during the lunch rush so come only if you intend to take a long lunch.

I suppose when hotels are considered "luxury", perhaps they mean "save you commute because we're in the center of town". Otherwise, we didn't find too many amenities. The fan was loud (a la striking some cord or something over and over), and when we called about the "A/C" they claimed there was no A/C. Way to get to the root of the problem. We had only one towel, and when we called for more, got only two more. Internet costs an arm and a leg, and there's no fridge or mini bar at all. The view? as you'd suspect on a lower floor, it's another high rise. But, we were close enough to be awoken through our open window by all the truck onloading noises at 4 in the morning. Why the open window? hello, mr loud, broken fan.

All this, for small full size beds. Our Days Inn beds were larger. Priceline, sometimes thou givest, this time thou hast taketh.

This review is back from 2000.

My fiance and I arrived at this hotel on a whim. We were in town from Seattle for some R&R. We never had stayed in a room with waterviews.
The bellman greeted us upon arrival escorting our bags to check-in, and waiting for our check-in to escorting our bags to our room w/out being asked.
The man at check in was a little rude with us and did not have a personality.

    Pros:
    Awesome Views
    Comfortable Bed
    Nice Interior
    Great comp breakfast

    Cons:
    Leaving

I didn't stay there, I only attended a course there during a convention.  The public areas of the hotel are a little dated, but Vistas 360 is still a knock out!

we book this hotel through a third party offer, http://priceline.com with the winning bid of $ 95.00 USD which to me is a great deal, for a newly renovated four stars hotel, the room is warm and new, the staff is phenomenal, very helpful and friendly, the health club is one of the best in the city.

p.s the valet staff "Steven" is a hottie

We too got this room from http://Priceline.com for 99$.  The room was a little small but I have stayed at other hotels in Vancity for the same price and this beats them all. We had a city view and it was fine for us since we were out and about most of the time.  Room had coffee maker with needed supplies, as well as tea, ironing board and iron, flat panel tv with decent cable channels and a sliding glass door to open for air. There is no balcony on the city side to walk out on, just a rail outside the sliding glass. The toliet paper sucked. Didn't get a chance to check out the pool on the fourth floor or the resturant/bar. Staff was really nice and the bell dudes were helpful. Two bad things were no friggie and the couch had so much dust it was like sitting on Pig Pins lap. Great location near the shopping on Robson st and a short drive to Stanley Park and Chinatown. I would stay here again but bid 80$ and hve them dust the couch ;-).  Go Canucks Go!!!

After having the opportunity to stay here a few times, I must say I'm not sure if this place deserves 4 stars, now the Pinnacle across the street is definitely 4 stars but not here.  I would say this place is probably a strong 3 star hotel, it's significantly older, but has been updated the past few years.  It does have a flat screen TV and nicely made beds.  However you can tell the age on this place, there were yellow mildew looking stains on the walls in the bathroom and the carpet were a little old as well.  The other bummer about this place is that parking is now 30 dollars a night with in/out privileges, which seems a little high. However there is plenty of street parking around and it seems to be in a fairly ok neighborhood to leave your car out overnight.  Be warned though, parking meters here do not end at 6PM like they do back in the US, they run until 10PM here so get your coins ready because you can't pay with a Credit Card!

This place almost straight out sucks!(To me but I kinda seem outnumber here with all the other reviews :( We got the winning bid on this website so the price was not bad(I can't imagine paying full price for this place) .When we got to the hotel, the valet has pretty good service and so does the front desk but once I got settled in our room I started to notice the not so good things.I went to the bathroom and thats when I saw theirs no lock, well that would be ok if your going with your wife or husband but that wasn't my case so it was bothersome and weird.um let me think what else?what?did you say NO MINI REFRIGERATOR!?!?!Thats what you call SUPER ANNOYING!! one of the big reasons I went to Canada was to eat some Asian fruit that isn't in America and I like them COLD!How can this be a four star hotel??........Coming to the end of the review I don't want this to sound too bad because its not a totally bad hotel neither is it a four star,so I am going to put a cherry on top ,the harbourside view is beautiful from the balcony.

I got a good deal using Orbitz/Priceline to stay on Christmas Day!  My folks could not visit us in Washington so we decided to head up north to visit our friendly neighbors.  The weekend before, we spent 3 days in Portland, Oregon so I had plenty of chances to compare and contrast.  But, back to the hotel.  The hotel needs an update.  The room was nice and had a decent water view.  The staff did its best to make us feel at home.  Although I understand that valet parking is and should be expensive for the location, I was hoping that in room internet access would be complimentary.  I know that "lesser" star hotels offer complimentary wi-fi access.  My sons and I tried both the indoor pool and the restaurant; both were good.  My wife thought the gym was good as well, very roomy.  In general, considering the room rate and the fat that it was Christmas, the hotel was good.  But, I did have a little hotel envy looking across the street at the Marriott Hotel; this hotel seemed completely updated and modern.
