Review from Sara K. P.

For my 69th review, I thought I'd go a little raunch and review the infamous Remington's Men of Steel!
John F's Remington's review before me is pretty epic and gets down to the main business of what Remington's is, that being a strip club geared for men,
so I shall relate about it from a strictly female perspective.
Truth be told the whole atmosphere is pretty balls out funny...get it :D . I mean watching a woman (depending on how attractive/nimble she is of course!) strip is pretty sensual, but watching a guy dance in a scanty cave man getup with NO rhythm, disrobe and spin his privates around meatspin style is just redonkulous!
Sundays here is the only night ladies are allowed in so basically it's all the horn dog "straight" or bi strippers or "gay for $$$" boys that come outta the woodwork to get some punani action.
You'd think some of them are male nymphos just "working" to scratch an itch as some of them are pretty aggressive about soliciting a private dance of which costs $20 & takes place upstairs in booths. Drinks here are outrageously priced as is the case at most adult clubs.
The lineup of dancers range from flaccid to OMG!!! and have the usual cheesy/ironic stag names that are either astrological, animal or porn inspired. I'll say 80% of them have no business dancing on a stage, and about the same percentile aren't lookers either but if your lucky to catch one, there are the odd fellas here who both look good and who can actually work a mean pole routine.
Everytime I've come here with a shy friend, she emerges a boy/man crazed fiend, throwing money and screaming at the dancers like Old Mexican dudes throw $$ and scream at cock fights (hmmm?) either that or the shy girls are embarassed to the hilt by some of the dancers flirtatiousness.
Washroom facilities are downstairs and don't think just because this is mainly a men's club there is no ladies room because there is a separate WC just for us and oh look, it's right next to the changeroom where the dancers prep before they take the stage. You may even get fleeting glimpses of some hot locker room action as the doors open and close surreptitiously.
Weird observation #1 Many dancers on stage keep their socks on after fully disrobing (wtf ? being fully nude with white socks in black light does not make for a sexy look!) as this is where they stuff their tips or worst case loonies.
Weird observation # 2 If you really find yourself vacillating if a dancer is straight or gay just look at his boxers. If they are super gleamingly clean and look brand spanking new, he's most probably gay but if they're kinda shabby or there's holes in them... Bingo! that's a straight guy.
So ladies, if you are looking for an alternative to a night out from the usual boring clubbing, try Remington's on a sunday as it's perfect for shits'n' giggles and remember whatever happens at Remington's, stays at Remington's ;)Listed in: November is my b*tch(kinda)…

The club is outdated and caters to older men. The models are a mix from hot to not and about 50% only peel down to their underwear on stage. $5 cover, 2 drink minimum ($7-8) for entertainment that lacks. One redeeming factor was a very flirty hot model who made a fuss over my friend for his birthday.
Would not return unless an event with friends. -

Some of these reviews have been greatly exagerrated.
The Club - It's what you'd imagine a strip club to look like; dark and poorly lit with cheesy rope light hanging from the walls. The crowd is typical lonely old men (60+) mixed with a couple young guys. Alcohol, like most bars in Toronto, are slightly overpriced.
The Dancers - Most of these men aren't hired for their looks. For every 10 dancers, 1 is actually hot. For every 5 dancers, 1 is hung. If you are a young guy looking to get hit on by a stripper forget it. These dancers will only approach you if you have grey hair, presumably because they are lonely and have more cash to spend.
The Private Dance - If you get a private dance be careful to keep track of the number of songs that play. You are charged $20 PER SONG, not per dance. You have to be direct as the stripper will strip slowly to pass the time and get more cash. Opposed to what others review, it is the stripper who decides where you can touch him. From what I hear, some of these guys are straight and will only allow you to touch them from the waist up, while some dancers are gay and will even go so far as to let you blow them but that depends on either 2 things: The amount of extra cash you give them, or if you're actually a good looking guy and the stripper is interested.
If you keep these things in mind, you'll have a good time. -

I live and work in Toronto, so i also play here. Now, i do not find myself at Remingtons on a regular basis, however, from time to time i like to go there for several reasons. Let me break the place down in point form:
Location - it is right on Yonge St in midtown and very easy to find.
"Picture it" - picture a long and narrow room, with one main stage and several raised platforms with poles in the middle for boys to dance on. The main stage is a good enough size, especially since it is usually only occupied by one dude. It is set against the wall, which is a large mirror, giving the viewers more to look at. There are 2 poles on the main stage. The lighting is for the most part dark, black walls, but proper lighting where needed. There is one bar at the front, but lots of cute boys in underwear walking around doing table service.
Dancers - this is where it gets good. There are all types of guys plying their trade here. Go on a Monday after work for some drinks with friends and you will be watching the same 5 or 6 sketched out raver casualties trying to make rent or pay back a drug debt. It can be depressing, but also sometimes interesting. As the night wears on, more guys show up, mostly the "for rent" types. You will find a lot of gay for pay going on here. As the week moves along, the dancers get better looking, and more of them show up. Sunday night ladies are allowed in (the only night when they are allowed) so the place gets packed with women and fags, and of course strippers. You get the same guys who are there all week, PLUS, the dudes who dance for women, but will also take a tip from a fag, because money is money, right. Each dancer performs for 3 songs and go right down to nothing. Full frontal nudity is the norm.
Private Booths - the DJ will constantly remind you over the speaker that each dancer is available for a "private dance" in the upstairs booths for $20. I think it's a great deal! Take your pick of any guy, go upstairs (make sure you have a 2 dollar coin on you because for some reason some kid is at the top of the stairs charging you to use the booths - weird). The booths are hilarious. Basically they are like being in a high school bathroom stall, but instead of a toilet there is a little ledge for you to sit on. The guy of your choice then takes off his jeans or whatever he has on right off the bat and tells you that you can touch him anywhere you want. Anywhere. You get one song for $20 bucks. You can then negotiate further what you want to do
Drinks - a little over priced, but not too bad. Stick to beer. Mixed drinks are weak in my opinion.
Music - depends on who is dancing I think - they choose their own songs, but usually it's a mix of typical gay dance music (which I hate).
Clientele - everything from corporate types coming in from the stock market, to college boys out for fun, to alternative queers, leather men, bears, and on Sundays, soccer moms with the rest previously mentioned.
Conclusion - this place is a great experience and more so later in the week and sometime after 9pm for sure. The later it gets, the better it becomes. Don't be fooled by the website (it shows pictures of the dances) - only a small portion of the dancers choose to be on the site.
Cover - $5 at the door, some nights are free -

It's the boys strip bar and always a good time. They usually don't let chicks in unless it's ladies night, which is frightful, but sometimes you can sneak in or go with someone who bartends there. For the most part the men don't really "dance" in the traditional stripper sense, it's more of a quick show of the package and a bit of a twirl. It's all about the private dances in this world. Also the lighting is nothing to write home about and the seating is inches from the stage. Again, it's not about the frills when it comes to the boys. Luckily, the clientele is not in it for the bells and whistles.

So.....as a Yelper, I feel it's my job, nay, DUTY to see all that I can see and share my thoughts with the community. And if that means seeing some skin, I'll make the sacrifice! Being from the states, and never being to a male strip club before, let alone gay OR full frontal, I'll be honest....I was in a bit of shock.
I went with some friends to "check out the gay strip club in Toronto" that we heard so much about. I'll be honest...we were a little underwhelmed at first. The "gentlemen's clubs" (aka: scantily clad ladies dancing for men) I have been to (I've been to one...with a friend who needed someone to go with, and I was game) have it much better as far as ambiance is concerned. And, guys aren't usually good dancers, especially the straights (I had a sneaking suspicion most of the strippers would be digging the ladies more if they were around, but are comfortable baring it all in front of gentlemen that have a vested interest in their performance). These guys were no exception. However, and how should I say this so as not to offend any PG yelpers...I'll word it as I once heard it in a very good musical, some of these guys are"packin' a stretch limousine." And, they all have pretty rock hard bodies (shame on you for thinking of something else!).
As for the standard logistics, they serve alcohol (which, to be honest, I was surprised), and they do private dances off in the back somewhere (without paper $1 currency it's kind of hard to tip as they're performing on stage, and, of course I don't know how much private dances cost! I was there doing my Yelp duties!). Friendly waiters and, if you're there with friends and give yourself a few minutes to get over the shock of where you are and what's happening, you can have a good time (and I mean that in the PGest of sense! Have R rated fun on your own).
I believe "ladies night" is Sunday.
