Jamie Cummins is a definite top chef in our city. Relish is obviously a true labour of love for him. Anything I've tried has been seriously beyond delicious.
My most recent indulgences have been the chicken, bacon, brie sandwich, oodles of brekky sandwiches and the blueberry cinnamon muffin. My favourite menu item thus far is the decadent brownie, when made with strawberries. It is the best brownie I've ever devoured.
Along with being super awesome in the food department they also serve up Discovery Coffee and a mean London Fog. The space is lovely as well.... and perhaps the area leaves something to be desired, but it doesn't bother me.Listed in: Best Evaaaaaaa!!!! In VicCity

Relish is a fantastic addition to Victoria's weekday daytime food scene.
It's rare for a gourmet eatery to entice me with a vegetarian sandwich, but Relish did so, and delivered. The sandwich consisted of a soft goat cheese, a curried carrot salad, and an almond-lentil pate on a roll that reminded me of that super-fluffy pita that some Greek restaurants serve, but with a slightly crustier outside.
Each individual component of the sandwich was distinctive and delicious, the sum was actually greater than its parts. I look forward to trying Relish's meatier offerings:
Despite my delicious sandwich, I still have some qualms:
1) While I appreciated the complexity of my sandwich, I did not enjoy waiting 20 minutes for the sandwich, even with Relish's decent amount of reading material. If I had more time, that would be a completely different story, as the atmosphere is pleasant. Relish is not for anybody in a rush.
2) While I would like to be one of those sandwich eaters who can ensure that every morsel stays within the surrounding bread, I am not. The sandwich fillings then fall on a plate and I enjoy using a fork to eat them. However, Relish keeps its forks behind the counter and nobody was tending to the counter when I wanted one. I then used my hands to finish what had fallen on my plate. This is a testament to the food's deliciousness.
3) While I enjoy gourmet ingredients, not everybody with whom I enjoy eating lunch does. Relish strikes me as a place that would scoff at modifying any components of its dishes, but I may be completely wrong. -

I stop at Relish often in the morning for a muffin on the way to work, I particularly recommend the Blueberry-cinnamon muffin. Their coffee is roasted by Discovery Coffee, and they do a pretty good job of making it into a cappuccino. I haven't had their breakfast sandwich yet but my friend speaks highly of it.
The decor is warm, fresh, and comfortable without feeling cluttered and 'cozy' (no clichéd burlap coffee sacks or eclectic secondhand furniture here), perfect for a cool autumn morning. -

I've enjoyed lunch at Relish twice now, once with a friend and once alone. I've come away with the same impression: I recommend this great spot. Specials are inventive and delicious, service was calm and friendly, the atmosphere suits a chatty lunch or a quiet moment to yourself. Great variety of choices but get there early for the specials. Sausage on a bun is popular with the men I noted and there are salads and sides to round out a sandwich as well. Love it.
