Went to Red Square on Saturday night at 9 and there was a good number of people there.

The drinks were great! Love having a variety of vodkas to choose from! I also ordered The Three Sisters martini, YUM tasted like a candy but can't recall which one.

Had the sweet potato perogi and I love it!

Loved the drinks, food, atmosphere, and service.

    Balshoi Spasibo!

I'd turned away once already - wondering why this cool looking lounge wasn't packed. Assuming that it wasn't the place to be...

Oh contraire. It's new - so perhaps that's why it's still a little under the radar - but it won't be for long I bet! The low down:

What: An Eastern European Vodka Bar and Tapas Lounge - serving perogies, stroganoffs (sp?) and amazing pacific scallops (get these just for the bacon risotto).

When: for hockey games - lots of big flat screen tvs, for parties - big VIP area, any day (except Sunday's - they're closed) - go later in the evening... and when you're in the mood for Vodka -they have over 100 on their menu.

Where: Just south east on Granville at Davie. To the right of the "g" sports bar. FYI - that part of Granville is now open to traffic again.

Who: Take more meaty eaters - there weren't a whole lot of vegetarian options - except the sweet potato perogies - (delish!)

Why: (drum roll please) $3.99 martini specials EVERY DAY! That's right - and they made me one of the best dirty vodka martini's I've ever had!

The loss of a star was for two reasons: 1. We were all but forgotten until we flagged someone down, but that was as it got busier 2. When I went to add the biz to Yelp, I went to their website where they don't list their address nor do they list their phone number properly - it's 604 40Vodka.(If you're going to do a "cute" play on numbers...at least write the numbers below it for those of us that use blackberries.)

As everyone else says.. 3.99 martini's every night? Oh yes! And they are good. So good we drank about 6 each & still rolled out of there without falling on our ass(es).

The drink slayers (bartenders) are friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar with my friend for 3 hours swilling our martini's.

Good place to come with friends & such. I didn't eat there, so I can't review that.. yet.

I love vodka like the revolutionaries loved trying to kill Rasputin. So when I discovered that there was a vodka bar in Vancouver, I knew I had to visit.

When I walked into the bar, it was still early in the evening (around 6:30 PM or so). In fact, I was the only customer in the place for most of the time I was there.

After perusing the different vodkas and cocktails, I opted to try the Rasputin's Passion cocktail. I wasn't there looking for a happy hour deal or a cheap buzz, so I didn't let that stop me from ordering regardless of the price. Overall, it was an OK beverage that seemed more like a fancier version of a screwdriver than anything to go "wow!" over.

While sipping the drink, I continued looking over the other cocktails to see what to order next. The bartender -- whose name I didn't get, but was very cute and had an Aussie accent -- talked up the flights of vodka they offered. He was very passionate about how to taste the differences between various brands, how to let them sit on the tongue for a bit rather than downing them like another shot.

I was very impressed by his knowledge and took his recommendation to try the Farmer's Flight. He told me about the origin of the three vodkas and what set them apart from one another. The presentation was very nice, with each shot glass placed on a narrow silver tray that had been covered in ice to keep the glasses chilled. He then placed lemon and lime wedges on the tray to complete the presentation.

Of the three, my favorite was the U'Luvka, a Polish vodka. So while my preferred vodka is Stoli, after a visit to Red Squared, I learned of some other vodkas thanks to the super-helpful bartender. I'll definitely return to this place on my next visit to Vancouver.

OK, so I recently turned the big 3 0!
And we wanted to throw a lil get together with about 25 of our friends and family. Why not a Russian Vodka bar?
We had a great time at Red Squared. Had our own section, and the plates of funky appetizers and $4 martinis were relentless. The dish of the night was definitely the homemade perogies. Served individually on funky soup spoons. These ended up being the safest "shots" of the night.
All in all, a pretty stellar start to my thirties.

While $3.99 martinis might get you in the door of Red Squared, the food and drink samples is what will keep you there. Two-for-one perogy specials ($11 each regularly) come stuffed in mouth-watering sweet potato with cheddar or asaparagus with leek. The portions are rather petit, so if you're not in a sharing mood, all the better for your lucky taste buds!

I'm not sure if this is a regular occurence, but during our couple hour stay there, we were offered multiple samples of wine and cider. It was also quite quiet, but I'm sure all this will change as the good word is spread.

The martinis were $5.99, not 3.99, and they add 18% gratuity. I asked if this was because of the Olympics and the waitress said yes. OF course it is... I didn't try the food (mostly because there wasn't any meat free choices besides bread sticks) but I noticed on the menu that they spelled perogy differently than my Ukrainian grandmother does.

I liked the decor and the place was jammed packed. People were standing and drinking. They had a live DJ instead of playing the hockey game sound on the tv (it wasn't a canadian game though). Our drink bill was more than I would have liked but the Jager bombs were only $5 so I shouldn't complain.

Lots of TVs to watch the Olympics...
Also were offering $2.50 special shots each time Team Canada scores a goal :)

Just make sure you get a seat somewhere, as they weren't letting people buy drinks that didn't have a seat (probably due to licensing issues..)

I really like this place.  A small Vodka bar with fantastic food.  Some really different Vodka's and great for Vodka Martinis.

Personally not a huge fan of Granville Street but once the construction of the street is finished then definitely this will be a great place.

    Staff is friendly, pricing reasonable.

Hmmmm...  What else to add after all those reviews.....  I concur! Yep, 3.99 Martinis every night will get you on your ass for as less as 30$.  Yep, great food, good service, good ambiance.  Yep, pretty empty.  The question is WHY???  I guess I'll just take advantage of it while it's there, until it gets packed as hell!!  Don't think, just run there.

Also, i forgot my credit card there once, yeah yeah, i gave it to pay (my 10 martinis) and i left with the group i was with, completely forgetting about it.  So i came back and asked to get it back which they did, and when i tried to leave the  tip, i was told by the very very nice waitress not to worry about it and to have a good night.  Well, that's worth  mentioning.

Long live the CCCP, where are all the Ruskis? I loved the murals, the colors and the downright Communist flare. Now I regret not taking a picture with Lenin.
To sum it up, the theme works and the specials make it affordable.
The drinks are inconsistent and nothing on the menu provided an adequately stiff edge. I mean come on, where I come from the Martinis are 6oz not 2oz,. If this was Mother Russia, the vodka would come in bottles not martini glasses.  The prices were a little high, but it is on the strip and has the atmosphere to warrant the price. I still think a vodka bar should have the best prices for vodka.

Red2 shines when it comes to its abnormal, exotic and black market selection of worldly vodkas (at lease a vodka in an AK-47 bottle feels black market). Who doesn't love learning more about other cultures by drinking their spirits. The flights of vodka are an excellent way to broaden your tastes without having to strain your brain.

Though there is a menu, I really didn't try it. No real reason other than too much vodka to get through first. What I did have, the peroggies, were handmade and fried up in some butter. The highlight comes on less busy nights where the service is beyond attentive and courteous.

Advice to the manager, first congrats on the vodka promotion and see if you can have an American drink called the 'Red Scare" it should be American vodka (Titos) and more then your 2oz. (By the way, Katarin is an amazingly beautiful bartender, Chef Al says hi).

Good: our Australian waitress was very attentive and friendly, big thumbs up.  Her only arguably bad move was sending us to Joseph Richards afterward.  The place wasn't too crowded (weekend after the Olympics), but the clientele seemed like good folk.

Average: the plates were tasty (try the veal with risotto) but only about half the menu looked appealing.  Could have been the drinkssss before?

Overall: this place is good way to start the evening.  Worst case scenario, you have some food and drink before leaving to go elsewhere.

$3.99 martinis every night. Really can't find that anywhere else on Granville. Every time I come here, it's always dead empty, but the service is still very friendly and it has potential. They make a tasty dirty martini too. They have a small menu if you want to grab some nibbles, i haven't tried their food yet but from what I can predict, I'm going to like the scallops with bacon infused risotto.

Let it be known this place is vegan hell, menu items include various animals smothered in different sauces.
I was originally attracted to this bar from their sandwich board outside advertising "over 100 kinds of vodka!" and I am definitely one to appreciate a wealth of vodka.
We arrived around 5:00 and it was completely dead.
Taking a seat by the window, I frowned at the very un-vegan-friendly menu and ordered a shot of blueberry Smirnoff.
Considering it was the night after the Olympic closing ceremonies they were fresh out of my first few drink choices, but the bar tender kept recommending I try this Bison vodka.
Apparently it's made from the grass bison have been walking and peeing on, but that's what makes it good(?).
After naming a handful of drinks that were out of stock, he finally just poured me a shot of the Bison vodka, and I have to say, it wasn't bad!
I also tried an Italian beer he recommended (delicious), and some fru-fru drink (delicious).
The bill ended up being around $21 for 3 drinks.
The bar tender was great, real nice, and helpful (he even recommended a vegan restaurant down the street!).
    Kudos Red Squared.

Upun my word. Clever word play, neat martinis, tapas on the rocks! Only disappointment was no fancy coffee. But as Sarah pointed out, there is a Starbucks on every corner!

18% gratuity for 2 local people when the service wasn't that great is too much. we had 4 different people serving us and they didn't even communicate. kinda weird. they got vodka flights which is pretty cool.
