Given how expensive this city is, I wasn't expecting much from a room I was able to get for $59 on a Friday and Saturday night, but I was pleasantly surprised.  Everything was comfortable, clean, and relatively new.  As for amenties, there weren't many, but the wifi worked well and passes to Fitness World across the street were provided.

Yes, there is both a liquor store and a strip club in the hotel, but I didn't think  this translated to any sketchiness or anything else to be concerned about.

All in all it was nothing special, but I'll definitely consider staying here again if I have a car and don't need to be downtown much.

This place was about what you would expect for a budget hotel...hence my 3 Star Rating.  But the price was so much better than anything else we could find in Victoria (even budget hotels) that I'm almost tempted to give it a 4 star rating.

The lobby and common areas were no frills; but the rooms were clean and relatively comfy...and WiFi worked fine!  Our group had three rooms and one of them included a small kitchenette.

A couple of things to be aware of:  You need a car because this hotel is located a fair distance from the city center.  Also, there is nothing of real interest around the hotel (other than strip mall like stores...and I think there might be mall nearby).  But one thing I DID LIKE was the bike/walking path that runs behind the hotel.  We walked along the paved path for a couple of miles (RT) and stopped at Starbucks in route home (located a block or two from the hotel).

A couple of reviewers referenced the liquor store and strip club.  The liquor store is front and center so you can't miss it; but if there was a strip club, we didn't notice it.

    Room: 3
    Value: 5
    Cleanliness: 3
    Location: 3
    Property: 3

My preference is to stay closer to the city center...but I would stay here again and I would absolutely recommend this place to the cost conscience traveler.

So I'm probably a little biased since I recently stayed at the Red Lion near Disneyland. I expected similar quality and I was a little disappointed. It was a decent hotel, just not the same caliber as Red Lion Anaheim.

The beds was wobbly. No monkeying around, you will hit your head. The toiletries were generic, no the fancy Bath & Body works brand here. I was hoping for WIFI and it was ethernet cable only. Yes, you can borrow a cable from the front desk but still! First time, I actually wished I had brought my laptop. Their business center kinda sucks. I was there for 3 days and couldn't use it until the last day. Just enough time to check in for my flight. Boo!

For the ahem, entertainment loving visitors, there is a lounge and ahem, "gentlemen club" next door. Also, Chinese restaurant and liquor store attached. You get a $2 off coupon for the restaurant when you check in! I didn't try though.

The rate was decent and it was clean so it's alright. Front desk staff was nice and friendly. But then again, you're in Canada and everyone is nice! :-)

This place was pretty much completely average. The most notable downside for me was the parking, which is quite limited. It is not up to the caliber of other Red Lions I have stayed in... but it was cheap and not scary or uncomfortable.

The attached Chinese restaurant was quite good, considering we went in with low expectations, and reasonably priced.

Four star rating is combo of comparative price, location and quality.   The price is great, it's a little way from the center of things, but it's safe and comfortable.   Works great if you're going to both downtown Victoria and Butchart Gardens.  It's between them.  Good wi-fi, helpful staff, and a GREAT walking/biking path 10 feet off the back of the hotel.  Fun to stay in downtown Victoria, but  you can't beat the price if you want don't mind being a bit removed.  Lower end of the Red Lion spectrum, but that was ok with us.
