One of my faces on the North Shore. Went back this weekend with friends who also frequent the restaurant. Good thing, as they broke us out of our mold as I must admit, we had gotten stuck in ordering our favourite dishes over and over. They have a simple formula, great food at a really reasonable price. My only complaint is that, like many Asian restaurants, the wine list is limited and featuring very low end wines. Not a buggy, as wine does not always work with Asian food, but since my wife will not drink beer under any circumstances, we are always on the look out for restaurants with a nice wine at a decent price.
A few dishes I highly recommend: the spicy wonton appetizers, the peppered chicken on dried spinach, the eggplant (before you scream out you hate eggplant, I was not the biggest fan either but this dish is delicious), and a new one we tried this time, mongolian beef. It was excellent.
In Vancouver, Asian food is comfort food, and this place serves up great comfort food. Highly recommend. -

When my dining partner suggested getting Chinese food on the North Shore - I was skeptical to say the least. And the sharp decor and wine rack at this place didn't inspire confidence. I sat down and realized I was the only Chinese dude at this place. "Dui"! And they didn't give us chopsticks - they gave us forks! Double "dui"! And yes, of course I want rice with that - see these almond eyes?!?!?
Left the ordering to the regular and we got a pretty good assortment of dishes (ma-po tofu, eggplant and garlic pork). Portions are pretty big (3 dishes was too much food for two people) and it's a bit pricier than your typical Chinese joint - but all the dishes were pretty solid. Bit oily - but not tamed-down hot like I expected judging by the cover. Not bad at all. And they didn't give me a fortune cookie - well-played, Red Chili. Well played. -

When I first moved to the North Shore I was craving "Real Chinese", (a little more like the food I grew up with) and I stumbled on Red Chilli.
They have become a family favourite! Even though we live only 5 minutes away this place has become a great - "I don't feel like cooking" delivery or dine in favourite. I love the spice level - service is great in the restaurant and delivery is still hot enough to eat when it arrives!
We have favourites that we order - Hot & Sour Soup - Vegetarian, Deep Fried Tofu with Spicy Pepper, Spicy Tofu Szechuan Style, Spicy String Bean Szechuan Style, Vegetable Fried Rice. Though I am Vegetarian, when I have ordered the Seafood and Meat for everyone else, they love it all!
Their following says it all, waiting there in the restaurant I hear people saying that they have come from all over on the North Shore or even Burnaby!
Definitely a the Best Chinese Food on the North Shore! -

This place is our family's go-to place - we live about 5 minutes away, and anytime we don't feel like cooking, we come here! For North Van standards, it's actually really authentic. It's spicy enough to satisfy even our incredibly jaded tastebuds, and service has always been really good. We always stick with the exact same menu at this place: hot and sour soup, garlic green beans, spicy garlic and pepper wonton, beef brisket noodles and spicy Szechuan-style chicken, and the fire doused with an order of white rice. Definitely a gem on the North Shore!

We were the first 2 people in the restaurant for lunch and were greeted coldly by our server. We ordered our beverages and my husband's came right away, while mine came at the end of the meal. After ordering our lunch, my husband received his soup in about 5 minutes, but mine came about 5 minutes after he was done with his. He then received his entree while I ate my soup and my entree showed up about 10 minutes later. In the meantime, the restaurant filled up with other patrons and most tables received their entrees before I received mine. The quality of the food was pretty low and tasted cheap. Our server never smiled or offered an explanation for her terrible service. My husband even had to go up and ask the manager for our check and the he didn't thank us or ask us about our lunch experience. I think this is the first time we have left a 10% gratuity. We have no idea why this place is full everyday for lunch. We are avid restaurant diners who live in North Vancouver and will never go back. Save your money and find a better restaurant.

Service is not particularly good here but if you don't want to cross the bridge, this is a pretty good spot for Szechuan cuisine on the North Shore. I love the spicy eggplant dish and if you're lazy, they also deliver.
Take out is another good option as seating is limited. Also, unlike most chinese restaurants that seem to be open 24hours a day, they are closed after 3pm and open at 5pm for dinner. -

The service is terrible and the employees are rude. When ordering take-out we asked to have broccoli added to a dish and they refused telling us, "you add at home". If I wanted to cook at home I wouldn't be ordering take-out!

Great food here, if you can get a table. That can sometimes be a challenge. Once you're in, try something a little different. Instead of sweet & sour pork, try the honey beef (but wait for it to cool down a bit before dipping in or you'll regret it).
For Szechuan food on the North Shore, this is one of your best bets. -

We have been eating at this restaraunt for 8 years. Keep coming back, and ordering delivery too. Food is always full of flavor, served hot and fast. Some of the best Chinese food we have eaten!

Love love live this place. We drive 20min across the bridge to come here. Have been coming for years. My better half is chinese and we've tried everywhere in town. Best Ginger beef, best garlic green beans.

This is probably one of the better Chinese restaurants on the North Shore, I would have given it 4 stars normally, but...
The food is very good, and the setting is nice, although small inside. Not ideal for larger groups. I thought the service was actually ok, better than most Chinse places.
The one major thing I did not like, is that they charge $5 for a medium sized bowl of steamed rice, whereas most have a per person rice charge with free refills. We needed 2 bowls for 2 people and spent $10 on rice. This alone makes it better as a take out or lunch place. -

This place is great! I haven't made the trek up lonsdale to eat here in a while though.
Everything I have ordered has been really good and gets to you super fast. The wontons in chili sauce was by far my favorite.I recall like 3 of 5 things I wanted were no longer being on the menu.
Two things you should know, they are only open at dinner time and it fills up quick. If you get here past 7 you might as well just order takeout. -

I have to agree, this might be the best chinese food in the north shore. Their dishes are packing major flavor and they sell bottles of wine for a reasonable price. I happened to go during the holiday weekend so there wasn't much of a wait to get a table but I don't know if I'm willing to wait in line for this place any other time. The restaurant itself is pretty small. The price range is average and most of their dishes were way too oily than necessary so I will have to limit myself from eating here too often. Still the best tasting szechuan spot North of the bridge.

Food is pretty awful. Either tastes bad or is totally bland.

Why are there no reviews for this place? It's only the best Chinese in all of North Van! The menu is fairly extensive, the portions are generous, and this is the first time I've found lo mein (my favorite Chinese dish) in the Vancouver area, although they call it Shanghai noodles, I think. Service is brusque, as expected, but I've had delivery a few times and it was fine. There is a lunch menu, which for about $9 includes soup and an entree with white rice. The orange chicken is incredible.

I ordered take out after reading the previous reviews. Since I was going to eat at home I figured it wouldn't matter how poor the service was. I just wanted a good beef and broccoli in black beans sauce. I was mistaken though. The women who took my order over the phone barely waited for me to finish saying the word chowmein before hanging up. She didn't say how much it would cost or how long it would possibly take let alone try to up-sell. Despite the pending mysteries it did not take long and for a fairly large portion of chicken chowmein and quite beefy beef and broccoli, $30 after tip seemed OK. The chowmein was perfect. The beef dish a tad greasy with perhaps a bit to much starch to thicken the sauce leaving it almost doughy.
The quality of the food and fast service should have out weighed the mysteries to give them a four star rating but I got no fortune cookie which Un-fortunately brings them down to three stars. I will order again but remember to ask for a cookie. -
