I've really only been to this superstore and the one at metrotown and I like this one a lot more! a HUGE superstore - you can find everything you need here! Things aren't all over the place, they're organized! Cheaper prices in comparison to Safeway or Save-On-Foods.

I've got a 10-point Review System, with the Real Canadian Superstore existing in table 2b (Grocery And Produce Stores: Large*), and I was full of schadenfreude and general life-emptiness when I finally got to tell you guys about my experiences at this one. The aforementioned points are nearly random, selected to illustrate the width and breadth of a consumer's experience. I should mention in the interest of full disclosure that I am eating their off-brand corn dogs as I write this. HENCE:

    1) Iceberg Lettuce: firm, but two points too far to the whitish end of the paint chips I carry for lettuce-grading. Small ice crystal on undermost leaf, where it sits on the shelf. Guys, it's not literally an iceberg**! The lack of attention to temperature shows an incomplete commitment to proper produce storage. Moving on.
    2) Bulk Gummies: freshness in each barrel (even the infamous (bulk freshness-wise) bottoms) is high-average, and while I would recommend they invest in more defined shapes such as the "dino" or "super bear" I will give them full marks.
    3) Floors: clean*** besides faint grime-collection in an area that tastes like pine and mustard, indicating insufficient wiping of a spill. Not shiny.
    4) Tortilla Chip Options: while not approaching the rainbow of grains tortillaed in such as a Choices Market, a wholly acceptable place to purchase the canvas on which my Nacho Night is painted.
    5) Staff Member (picked at random): Brian was possessed of an unattractive and partially unsuccessful moustache, but aced the Condiment Quiz portion and the Consoling A Crying Customer**** bonus round. Someone promote this guy!
    6) Music: Muzak Beatles, which is the standard for a reason folks.
    7) POS Technology: I heard from the manager that they're looking into purchasing a certain very exciting piece of POS, so while they're pretty average on that front right now, keep your eye on the checkout area in the future.
    8) Ground Pork: Anybody can excel at ground beef, so I throw them a curveball on this. A curveball made of pork, which I will make into sausages. I requested they grind it at 2, but the result was much too fine. The mouthfeel was all wrong, and I had to spit it out on the floor. This is an egregious mis-step on their part, and I shall not apologize. The pork, however, was delicious.
    9) Samples: none!
    10) Aesthetic of Coupons: it speaks to the class of their operation that they've opted to stick with a classic, though with slight dashes of modern coupon design.

In closing, though there are better things that exist in the world I will continue to buy things here when there are things that I need, and so I must award three stars. Also, bravo Brian!

*The Real Canadian Superstore also falls under 4-6 different subsections depending on how flexible you want to be with your classifications. However, I do not want to be flexible at all.

Has any noticed the new colours is now the same as Costco?  Red and Blue...... I'll tell you what else is red and blue..... America!!  Real Canadian Superstore huh?  lol  Just an observation.

This place is alright.  Price is cheap, however the parking sucks, it's really busy, and the produce/meats is C quality.  3/5 times I visit here there will be messes and spills on the ground with just a slip warning sign.  I mean it's so busy here, shouldn't that be a priority to mop up the floor??  I'm disappointed to call this a Canadian store considering an American market runs much smoother just a few blocks over.

This place is close to me and has much better prices on most thing then say Safeway, but it is insane.  For some reason every family decides they need to all head on over to the grocery store which results in Mom doing the grocery shopping, kids running free, and dad just standing around being useless (Dear Dads, if you're not gonna help with the shopping at least help with the kids, maybe stay at home with them next time?).  The checkout counters are always understaffed (except on holidays but then its so busy that it doesn't really matter), every time I go there there's like 4 or 5 / i dunno 15 lanes open and they are always crazily long.  It's not uncommon for me to spend more time waiting in line than i did actually shopping.  Oh and I've pretty much given up on trying to get sale items as I work all day and it seems like they are sold out of most good sale items (especially meat) whenever I go.

    Anyways in summary:

    good prices
    horrible service
    Insanely busy
    Still better than safeway

Why does it take 8 people, of 3 generations, to go grocery shopping? At this Superstore it seems to be a common occurrence. Mom and Dad shopping, their children run around unattended, often found pawing their little hands through the bulk food candy bins, while Grandma and Grandpa shuffle oblivious to everything, down the middle of the aisles. For someone like me who wants to make an efficient entrance and exit, it can be frustratingly painful to deal with.

That withstanding, this is a HUGE store that has virtually everything that you could need at terrific prices: pharmacy, health and beauty, Joes clothing, garden, housewares, and of course groceries.  I'm a sucker for President's Choice products and they carry the full line. Unfortunately the produce section is geared towards an Asian marketplace and often doesn't have the best quality of stuff that I am looking for.

Because of the sheer volume of customers, the store looks somewhat ransacked by mid-day. And definitely avoid buying bulk candy from the lower bins!

For the month of December the store is open 24 hours so maybe my next visit will be when I have insomnia in the middle of the night so I can shop in peace and tranquility.

Wow, they really raised the price of food.  Pop now costs $2.50 for 2L.  That's like gasoline now.  A bit of a shame.  Fortunately a lot of their other items (such as shampoo) are cheaper. There was a time when Superstore was a good deal almost all the time.  But now you have to check other places too and shop around (literally).  Oh how times have changed.

As far as Superstore's go I love this location! It's fresh, new, clean, doesn't feel like a dungeon as the Metrotown location does.

The cosmetics and toiletries are organized, easy to find and I love that they have added some Joe Fresh items in the cosmetics department. I don't bother with Joe Fresh clothes cause they fit quite boxy and I am not shaped like a box!

Housewares are basic but good quality for the price, I have bought a lot of baking pans and other knick knacks hear and love them all! So easy to find what I need even if I am looking for something silly like an egg separator.

Their produce it typical Superstore mediocre to bad quality but it's a nice set up you can get through it quickly.

Love bulk stuff. Pastas, candies, but where the spices at?!? They have like 3 spices in their bulk section. Dislike!

Groceries are laid out nicely, really wide aisles for their oversized buggies to be left about by silly shoppers. Often sold out of sale items which saddens me but I guess that's what happens when this is the only grocery store in the hood.

I wish so bad my local Metrotown location was like this one cause god the Metrotown one exhausts me with is gross set up and miserable people.

Hey there, Superstore. You're great. You have the cheapest cat litter I have ever seen, and when you have four cats, cheap cat litter is a pretty big deal.

But seriously, Superstore IS great. I've been going to this location for about five years now. Great prices, and good selection. They've also recently renovated and everything is shiny and new. My only qualm with this place: the produce usually sucks. Yes, I buy everything I need at Superstore, but will hit up Safeway or IGA the next day to get my fruit and veggies.

This Superstore has renovated and they actually now have a decent Joe Fresh section. It's huge, and it's not in piles like it used to be.

The aisles are bigger (or seem to be) and everything is nicely organized. It's clean (for now), but I'm still having problems with people bumping into everyone. Constantly. That will never change, people are oblivious.

However, it's my go to place for some staples and also most of their toiletries are way cheaper than some drug stores.

I spent an hour in here wandering like a lost demented senior (I can say that, my Granny is one).

Oh, Superstore. It has the cheapest prices on grocery items out of virtually any other place, and they now have a decent natural food section for all of us who love our hippy food. I find this specific store to be slightly better than the others, and especially better than the one at Metrotown. It just doesn't seem quite as cramped as the other stores, and they seem to maintain the displays better.

Regardless, I have to dock two stars for one reason: Superstore makes me want to punch people. There, I said it. I don't know what it is about Superstore (and I swear I'm not an angry person) but I always leave there a little hot under the collar.

That said, of course I'll go back. Ah, Superstore -my lovely supplier of rageahol.

Alright, I seriously love this place.  I know that qualifies me as at least a little bit crazy, and I'm ok with that.

Five big fat stars for your low prices, SuperStore, and for your automatic-price-matching.  Thanks for not making me bus around to different stores for the best deals on everything I need.  (Not like I would actually do that, who am I kidding)

A slightly less fat but still pleasantly plump 4.5 stars for your product variety.  Decent new cheap jeans?  Check.  Diapers for my baby?  Yup, and they're on sale, look at that.  Party supplies, books, bath towels, and a live lobster?  Check.  Oh, almost forgot, I need a new flatscreen television.  No I don't.

I only docked half a star because without fail they're out of at least one item on my list.  This week it was the bread on sale and black beans.

Walking around this supermarket-on-steroids I take my sweet time.   I used to bring the bébé with me but now I wait for the bf to get home and it has become some treasured alone time.  You see, this is what having children does to you.

Whenever I'm in there I feel like Jerry Seinfeld talking about how grocery stores somehow put you in a trance... ''oh, they've got that in mesquite flavour now.  What is mesquite, anyway?..."

It does get ridiculously busy in there frequently, but they've got magazine racks that help to pass the time waiting in line ;)  Oh, and the renovation has improved the store drastically... it was getting way too grubby in there.

Even though I live a quick stroll from a large Safeway, I was searching for a new place to buy groceries because its too damn expensive!

I love food and I love cooking. I need good groceries at decent prices, and Superstore has it!

They have just renovated the store so its looking pretty sweet. There is loads of parking. They have a good pharamacy/cosmetics/toiletry area that saves an extra trip to Shoppers and some good basic homewares as well (I scored some pretty good bath towels for about $10 each).

The best thing though is that I find I can spend the same amount of money here as I do at Safeway, but not only leave with a lot more in my trolley, but also nicer items instead of just the basics (like pesto, nice cheese, fresh pasta, etc).

Their fruit and veg department has a good selection of produce that is good quality, including a specialized asian and organic area. Their bulk bin area is AWESOME - every snack and candy you can think of plus all of the ingredients you need for baking.

I have to admit my first trip there took FOREVER because it was so huge and I didn't know where everything was located, but now I have a pretty good routine sorted and I can duck and weave my way through this place in record time.

Sunday evenings here though is like the 7th layer of hell though so beware, its sooooo busy.

I described Superstore today as halfway between a Safeway and a Costco.  I think that's about accurate.

The prices are great.  The selection is not.  Superstore is owned by the Westons, so there's a lot of President's Choice, and they have their usual stock of affiliated brands but not a whole lot of selection.  There are some brands they just don't carry, and some they carry but not in all sizes.  For example, they always have Smuckers jam in the 560mL size but only raspberry (the other flavours come in 560mL, I've seen them elsewhere, but Superstore doesn't carry them).  Another example: a 20-pack of General Mills Fibre 1 granola bars only comes in "oats and chocolate".  I've seen a 20-pack of caramel bars, but they never have them here.

The meat and fish prices are great, and even greater if you are willing to buy giant portions (which I do, then split them up at home and freeze them).  The produce is not the best quality although not that terrible, and also comes at decent prices.  All of the homeware and pharmacy stuff is pretty cheap as well, but again, not much on brand selection.

One warning: avoid this place on weeknights between 7pm and 8pm.  Even though there are 20 cash registers, you will be waiting in line all night.

i hate to be the bearer of bad news., but when i have left the superstore on two consecutive nights in tears, then i want to tell as many people as i can about the horrible service i received. not one, but 2 nights in a row.
i havent shopped at superstore for long, maybe a year.  the low prices, and the Joe makeup and apparel have kept me coming back.
i was in on a friday afternoon and saw the cutest matching hats, scarves and gloves in a variety of colours, which i thought would be perfect for my nieces.  i also did a little grocery shopping and upon checkout my bill was close to $500.00.  the staff are never particularly friendly, nor rude....customers are treated like cattle, and most people know this and expect this but shop here anyway bc of the deals.   myself included.....after paying, i noticed a line at customer service, being noisy, i asked the man to my left what the line was for.  he  told me it was a line for 24$ of free batteries if you spend over 250$.  i was in a hurry and asked a sales associate on the way out if i could come back to claim my batteries on another day.  she said yes, and to just bring in my receipt.
happy with my purchases and just discovering that all the clothes i bought from superstore were a name brand "joe".  i found out that there was a store on Granville that strictly sold joe attire.  I live two blocks away, so i decided to check it out.....
i couldn't believe how cute some of the clothes were and for affordable prices.
i also couldn't believe the staff.  The girls at the front desk were rude and arrogant, not only to customers but to their fellow employees who were working the floor.  it seemed as though these girls at the till had a bit more authority then the floor girls.
i was so put off by their attitudes.  not friendly, but not exactly rude.  the gave off an aura of "hey, i just got promoted from my last job at sirens and I'm better than all of you....i had a bunch of clothes to try on and was so put off by their attitudes that i was just gonna leave and go to Aritzia, where the clothes are way cuter, way pricier but the girls are cool and down to earth.  one girl that worked there did notice i was going to leave and asked me if everything was ok?  if she could help me with anything?  and informed me she had a dressing room already set up for me.   she was so professional, and in the midst of all the chaos, calmly changed my mind and led me to the room.
her name was SArah, and she goes to Langara.  she checked on me constantly, ran up and down the stairs for sizes and was a dream salesgirl for a grumpy, middle-aged shopper.  after having a few laughs and having her escort me to the till with my purchases, one of the girls at the till, rudely said something to sarah in front of me, trying to embarrass her and show the customers around who was boss.
my mood definitely dropped a few notches.  the cashier was arrogant, unfriendly and was more interested in telling secrets to the male floor manager and laughing away, as though this was their party and we were all just nuisances......sorry, but you do work at JOE, not HOLTS.
i did make a mention to the manager on the floor about how helpful and great sarah was, but my gut feeling is that he didn't pass the message on.
i won't be shopping there again. the staff were too rude....I have a feeling sarah won't be there for too long. her customer service skills and magnetic personality will lead her to a place that far outweighs JOE. i also filmed the rudenesshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5T6WznMMMs &feature=youtube_gdata_player

It's well known you don't go to Superstore for fresh produce unless you have to or unless they have a sale on strawberries, mangoes, or mini mandarin oranges (or is it?). Or if you're just getting basics like onions and potatoes.  So with standards lowered there, you're good to go.

The bakery products are okay. Their dairy section is alright. Sometimes it seems like their gallons of milk are leaking.

What I don't like about this location so much is that they don't appear to be very clean, and I have heard confirmed cases of rats being here. Mainly because they're located near a creek. And they're always really busy. I would rather not go here if I could help it. But sometimes the cheap goods calls my budget-strapped name.

I give myself a pep talk before my quarterly stock-up at Superstore. I'll park at the furthest cart storage by the exit. With loonie in hand, I prepare to wrestle the cart out and motor into the store.

I know the floor plan, hence there is no need to dawdle. After adjusting to the yellow-casting lights, I push the cart around the perimeter as to avoid other shoppers with their kids, in-laws, grandparents, cousins, aunts/uncles, bosses, etc...

    toiletries - check
    cleaners - check
    perishables - check
junk food isle - keep walking

To avoid a lineup that exceeds the car ride home, I never wait behind the shoppers I mentioned earlier. Once I'm out of the parking lot, all is zen again.

I've only once before been to a Superstore, and that was just to keep a friend company. This time, we went all the way to Grandview Hwy so we could open our PC Financial accounts (having tired of paying a monthly fee on our minuscule balance). It was not our intention to really do any shopping - but shop we did!

We got a good deal on some drugstore items, definitely cheaper than one would find at Shopper's. Then, we discovered the clothing section! Joe Fresh Style is not exactly high-end, but for cheap T-shirts and light sweaters (especially for my bf, who can actually buy kids' clothes), it's a great deal! And, thankfully, Made in Bangladesh and Vietnam are available (in contrast to where most cheap things are usually made...).

The bulk section is also fantastic, and I enjoyed doing some browsing here!

Things I didn't like: the massive shopping carts, full to the brim; the sheer number of people - crowded, even in such a huge space; the lack of traffic patterns - people going every which way; the lineups at the cashier - hokey smokes, what a lot of money people spend! Seriously, the lady ahead of us paid with several $100 bills, and got about 65 cents change.

So, I wouldn't make another trip with Superstore as the destination, but I might visit again if I happen to be in the neighbourhood...

Dang this place is huge. I went on a walk from 22nd and Rupert and decided to check out this superstore. I walked around, saw a lot of nice things, there's a lot of nice things that are pretty cheap. It's like a walmart superstore, they sell pretty much everything. I actually was looking for a payphone to make a phone call but it was like $2.50 a minute... So I just decided to use my cell phone which costed 60 cents a minute.

It was nice to kill time here, although I should have really bought some things. I saw some things going for cheap...

I didnt bother to pay attention to the produce area... Yeah I think Reena is right... If you ever go to a walmart, I dont think anyone would ever buy produce cause its probably fricken expensive.. You can get that stuff cheaper at an asian supermarket...

it was a nice visit, i acutally been here a few times, but im only referencing to this very visit...

Now that they have renovated, the store isn't such a dump. However, it is poorly organized, and finding things takes forever.
I use to shop here every week, now I only shop once every month or two. Prices on most items are a joke, more expensive than Safeway in some cases. Produce in particular is overpriced, and of poor quality.
I also don't appreciate the very limit number of cashiers they have. Regardless of the time of day, the lineups are long.
They do have a few canned and packaged goods that are good value, so I haven't given up on them entirely. But I do most of my big box grocery shopping down the street at Walmart, and save a bundle.

I love superstore. Not just for groceries, they also have decent clothes electronics (videogames, movies, etc.) and housewares. The President's Choice brand name is often better quality than any other brand name. Prices are cheap, often even cheaper than Costco.

Be prepared for shelves being out of stock on many items though, and long lineups at the tills. Great place if you have a car to drive there and load up on lots of stuff.

I have to give this store an extra star now, they are starting to renovate, and actually trying to make this place look more appealing. Even the produce isle looks lush and green. They have replenished the seafood corner, and they actually have a deli where someone is actually slicing the meat, no more of the "just sell packaged stuff". I will have to re-visit this store once it has completed renovations.
