Review from Don L.
St Albert, AB
Of any grocery store in St. Albert, this is in my mind by far the best one overall. On the whole, prices here are better than any other store.
Joe clothing is great and they have a great selection of seasonal items and PC kitchen supplies.
Produce is not as high-quality as other stores (save for Wal-Mart) but I've also never had a problem with any fresh produce/meat - something I can't say for Save-On (where I inadvertently bought expired hot dogs and returned them to a manager who didn't say a word about it) or Costco (where I've discovered rancid fish in my fridge the day after I bought it).
Check-out times are okay - slower than Safeway or Sobey's but faster than Save-On or Wal-Mart. -

While I can see the previous reviewer's point of view - especially in regards to meat - I will NEVER again buy meat at Superstore after several poor experiences...
I do love their JOE fresh line of clothes - super inexpensive and perfect for babies, toddlers, and light summer wear! We SWEAR by their PC Green brand diapers - works WAY better than some of the more expensive diapers we had been buying at Planet Organic and the like...
Best prices for pop, cereal, crackers... all those kinds of foods that I'm not worried about with how it's being handled (meat, dairy, etc.)
We also swear by their PC Green brand cat litter made from pine product - lighter and cheaper and works better than the Green brand we had been buying at Petsmart for years!
The gentleman that runs the lotto booth at this location is super friendly and the bakery staff always cheerfully give my toddler a cookie when we shop there.
They also have the best prices in town on my favorite 100% fruit juice popsicles and black beans (which can be kinda hard to find sometimes).
Check out times at this location are usually less than 10 minutes - it's a smaller store and not crowded like some of the other locations (i.e. You couldn't pay me to ever shop at the Clareview one again!)
I'll still stick to Costco for my meats & dairy... but PC all the way for diapers, cat litter, non-perishables, and clothes! -

Dirty, disgusting, messy, bad management.
This is the place to go if you like contaminated meat, ''fresh'' deli lunches that make you sick, and dairy thats been sitting out in room temp for half a day.
I've seen the backroom of this store and it is not pretty. The doors to the backroom have blood on them due to the meat dept not wanting to change their gloves everytime they come out. I've seen them push their dirty meat carts around with their gloves on and then go to handle the product with the same gloves.
I've been in the washroom with several employees, most of which DID NOT wash their hands after using the toilet. They simply adust their hat and apron and walk out the door.
Speaking of the washrooms, they're filthy. Constantly clogged toilets and wet floors, not to mention they store their toilet paper rolls in a pile on the floor because the sanitary toilet paper dispensers broke off the wall a long time ago and they dont want to fix them. I've found period blood wiped on whole rolls of toilet paper because someone with no hygiene whatsoever was in a hurry.
The staff have no idea what they're doing. I had more than one employee randomly come up and ask ME where something was.
This St Albert location is the grossest grocery store in all of Edmonton and the surrounding area. This is coming from someone that has been in the backrooms of every single Superstore, Walmart, Save On, Sobeys, No Frills and Zellers in the city. For your own health and safety, find a new place to shop for your family.
