Hyped for a reason, Ray's is your go-to destination for great Mediterranean eats on the fast and cheap. Centrally located and reliably slinging falafel wraps in this city since long before I can remember, it's worth the trip into Scotia Square's food court for some sweet, Lebanese lovin'.
Of course, I've only ever had the famous falafel wrap (they say it's the best in the city...and it might be for fast food, but it fails to compete with some newer, higher end grub) which comes in a massive pita (the dry, flaky kind rather than the thick, carby kind), stacked with chickpea patties, pickled cabbage (sounds gross but is awesome), and whatever other glorious things they shove in there. I'd list 'em all but I've never done an inventory, I've just enjoyed.
Cheap, hearty, healthy (ish?) - Ray's should be on the 'you're not a Haligonian until you've...' list. -

I had never tried a falafel, not being a fan of chickpeas or hummus or anything that I have tried with chickpeas in it, I couldn't imagine liking them.
I always like to at least try things, so while at Scotia Square to get some Korean food for lunch, I decided to get a falafel wrap to take home with me and I was impressed. Not something that would become a favourite of mine, but it was a tasty wrap and my favourite part was the falafel.
The wrap was a tasty mix of falafel, pickled cabbage which I found a little overpowering, tabouli and a sauce which was all wrapped up in a fresh pita. I am not a big wrap person, but this was good, although would have been probably more satisfied with just the falafels with a nice tzatziki.
For .99 cents you can also get a side of rice, potatoes or salad if you buy a wrap. Both the potatoes and rice with lentils and fried onions looked good and they were nice enough to give me half of each. Sadly neither are something I would go back for, not bad, just nothing special. The garlic sauce on the potatoes which is what really appealed to me was a little timid, I love garlic and wanted more. The rice was okay, but the lentils were a little under cooked for my tastes.
A excellent value and decent food, I can see why people love Ray's falafel, they made me like something made of chickpeas, so that is pretty good! I would gladly have more of them. -

Hands. Never. Washed.
Hands touch food. Hands touch debit cards. Hands go back to touching food. Hands touch face. Hands touch food. Eeeep. -

I headed down to the Metro Centre the other night to see Korn and Disturbed, and coming straight from work I needed something for dinner. I can't say I'd ever heard of Ray's, it was a suggestion of a coworker I met down there.
I normally don't really like falafel, but a wall full of "best falafel" awards gave me pause to reflect on the opportunity to discover that what I don't like is bad falafel, not falafel in general. So I ordered with that hypothesis.
Yep. I just don't like bad falafel, and Ray's doesn't fit that definition.
I think that was probably one the of the best less than $7 meals I've ever had. -

Ray's Lebanese Cuisine is the best lebanese food I've ever had, bar none.
I was in the midst of transferring buses one day and found myself with some time to kill over a noon-hour. I wandered into the food court at Scotia Square and wasn't able to resist the aromas coming out of Ray's.
We had a fun conversation over what was included in my meal, and he asked me if I liked tabouleh. I explained that the tabouleh I'd had before, I hadn't much cared for and he replied, "oh, you'll like my tabouleh" - and I did! It has a much lower amount of parsley than the typical tabouleh and is so tasty you're sorry when it's gone.
Actually, that's true of all of Ray's foods. The falafels are amazing (voted best in Halifax!), the hummus is delicious, and the potatoes are wonderful. I wish he had a location that wasn't so difficult to access; I would be eating from Ray's far more often. The last I heard, he did offer delivery, so check it out -

Ray's is amazing: fatouch, tabouli, plump falafels - it's a dream come true.
It might seen impossible that a mall food court could boast such fantastic Lebanese cuisine, but rest assured, this does exist. Ray's is not a figment of your imagination! It's real and oh so darn delicious!
I was in last week, but had already eaten lunch prior to my knowledge that I'd be visiting Scotia Square. My dining compatriot ordered a large falafel wrap, which is huge. It's so nice to get an authentic wrap, simply stuffed with the moist chickpea balls, tzatiki, and tabouli because really, that's all you need! I was fortunate enough to steal some bites and felt satisfied just from my thieving session!
GO TO RAY'S! The prices are great and so is the service. -

Ray's Lebanese Cuisine is in the most unlikely of places, given that the food is the best Middle Eastern I've eaten in Halifax. It's in the Scotia Square Food Court!
Don't turn your noses up, in addition to awesome falafel or kafta kebabs in pita pockets, you can check chicken or kafta kebab dinners with rice, potatoes, salad and all for $5.50. The salads - like my favorite tabouleh and other mains are worth the trip.
Too bad they're not open on the weekend. -

Ray's seems to be the hot spot for Lebanese food. Although it is located in Scotia Square, it makes a great stop after shopping.
Ray's is always busy. We had the chicken kebab dinner. It was fantastic. Large portions, great taste, and cheap prices. -

I work nearby and whenever I buy my lunch I usually will head to Ray's. Really friendly service and both the chicken or falafel pitas are sooooooo good!!

I'm not sure why people like this place so much. I love lebanese food and would eat it every day, but Ray's really seems to cut corners for the lunch crowd at least. It is hard to blame them I guess, they have all of 45 minutes to make most of the day's money, but some things like the soups and chili are inedible.
