Victoria, BC
I got dragged here after a year plus hiatus. I wasn't looking forward to it as the last couple times were horrible but my son really wanted to go. Glad he did.
They're under new ownership and the food was great for a buffet and the service was great. Will go there again. :) -

Haven't been here in a long time as it wasn't very good but gave it another try after not having been here for about a year and the service and food was great!
Obviously there has been a major change and totally for the better:) -

SALT SPRING ISLAND, BC
A couple of weeks ago, during a visit to Victoria, I decided to try this place out having seen it from the road countless times. Mainly because it was on a convenient route that would get me to the ferry most directly after the meal. This restaurant's food deserves a higher rating than what I gave. If you are an adult, and there are only adults or ravenous teens in your party you will enjoy the food, and it will be good value. For Chinese buffet dining, the quality was some of the best I've had. The selection, some of which included Dim Sum dumplings, favourite veggies like Gai-Lan is broad. Two selections of soups, many entrees, several noodle dishes, and vegetarian dishes. Well prepared and seasoned, in a clean and bright setting. The staff we also attentive and cleared the tables quickly of empty dishes.
Sadly, I will not return to this establishment for their misleading pricing and signage as it relates to children. The sign at the door states that children 2-9 pay about half that of an adult, and a dollar is to be added for each year of age over 9. After a satisfying meal, we (myself and my 10-year old) were charged as two full adults. Bringing this up with the hostess, who appeared to be owner or manager, resulted in nothing but a headshake and dismissal. And no explanation of the discrepancy between their posted sign, and the actual bill. The sticker shock is one thing; I think I can recover from the few extra dollars paid. It's the business ethics that was repugnant. What a disappointment. -

I've had chinese buffets in small towns across Washington and Oregon. This was slightly below average quality in this category, and way below average for the price, for 2 adults and a toddler, $40.00. Service was lackluster, again, even for a chinese restaurant. Don't be fooled by the various awards listed.

Raymond's may not be an actual four star establishment, but they do have a four star Chinese buffet. If you show up just before the dinner rush starts you'll get the good stuff fresh. If there isn't a big crowd, like tonight, you may be disappointed, however, what was leaving the steam trays was being filled fast. There was a constant flow of staff checking the status of the buffet line. The five star buffet killer is they don't always check up on the drink situation at the tables. Going back to the the buffet though, there is a plethora of choices. They have the usual favorites like Sweet and Sour Pork and Fried Rice, but there are some superb gems in the mix too. I recommend the Salt and Pepper Squid,or the Sesame Balls. Unlike any Chinese buffets I've been to they have an ice cream machine for those craving something cool. Aside from the buffet there's also Hot Pot and a full menu of choices. This place also has huge tables for extra large groups and the prices are highly reasonable. Buffet for two is under $35.
