After reading lot of positive reviews on the restaurant, I can't wait to try it. I was on a day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake with couple of my friends. We stop at Ravine for lunch. Everyone really enjoy the food. It was delicious. One of the best burger I ever had. Friendly service, top with an awesome view of the vineyard, what else can a girl ask for.

Ravine was the last stop on our whirlwind wine tasting tour. The wine was forgettable because we were a bit tipsy and we were very hungry and eager to get to the food.  Just an FYI  - the website calls the "deli" the Ravine Vineyard Bistro.

All I remember is spending $40+ on lunch for 2 and leaving hungry.  We ate all of the baguette we were served and unfortunately, it was not "the best baguette outside of Paris" as we were promised by the employee in the tasting room. The steak frites was a-ok but it was so tiny and $18.  A 4 oz. steak is really only big enough to be dinner for my 20lb dog-brother, Billy.

Anyway, service was good. The food tasted good.  The view of the winery was lovely. But the price really hurt the wallet and the portions were so tiny.

Great mussels (ie. no grit, preplumped, perfectly cooked).  The veg poutine was a pleasant surprise. .. a start of a good niche menu.

I would characterize the menu as a pub menu for wineries.

Add a few more different types of beer .. including more draught beer .. to the spirits menu.

Just wanted to provide a quick update to my previous post.

I  went back to Ravine Vineyard Deli and Bakery, it had recently undergone a renovation, which was disappointing as the renovation resulted in the warm charm that I so enjoyed, being removed and replaced with a sleeker cold design. The design seemed to rub off on all aspects of the restaurant, including the staff and the food, the waiter was rather rude and the food was underwhelming.

This combines the best of both worlds, a winery and restaurant.  As soon as you drive up it looks like a sprawling estate.  There's a huge deck on the front that you just expect will have rocking chair out front.  They don't, but they do have dining on the front porch, inside the restaurant and out in a sun room where the windows looked as if they could be opened up on a nice summer day or cooler autumn afternoon.  The view from the back sun room is incredible.  It's just rows and rows of grape vines.  It was an incredibly idyllic.

We decided to grab lunch here before we headed to a couple different wineries.  I wanted something light since I knew I'd be snacking along the way (with drinking of course) so I chose the tomato soup and beet salad.  The tomato soup was just okay.  It didn't have much flavor to it, plus it was the cost of my salad, $11!  Way too overpriced!

I was happier with my salad, BUT there weren't a lot of beets in there.  The creamy balsamic dressing was fab and there were definitely enough walnuts, but if you have beet in the name, please supply me with a good portion of them!

I also don't usually order white wine, but the Riesling was suggested with my meal.  It was brought out to me and our server dashed away.  I looked down and there was a bug floating in it.  It's not a big deal to me, but I did want a fresh one (I may have drank it but I think the hubs would have been totally grossed out with me!).  It probably took another 15 minutes to get her to attention to come back since she seemed like one of two of the only servers in the place.  No biggie though....just a little slow service.

We sat in the back sun room and across the way they had an outdoor bar set up as well as a huge tent area.  I assume they have a TON of weddings and events on property.  I can imagine it would be an absolute beautiful place to hold a special event there.

Would I go back?  Probably not.  But would I maybe hold/go to an event there, absolutely!

This was the first of our 4 vineyard stops.  We LOVED this place as both a Bistro & for its wine.

Staff: Extremely polite, friendly & descriptive in both their food & wine (we went to their wine-tasting room first and then had lunch)

    Ordered:

    - Complimentary bread & butter - Bread was a bit hard but the french-style butter was fabulous.
    - Steak Tartare Hor d'oeuve: Very good paired with the bread, sprinkled parmesan & argula pairing, but slightly strong in onion taste.
    - Steak & frites - Perfectly done
    - Fish of the day with potatoes & tomato medley - Fish was in small pieces (see pictures) and the mix of oily fish, tomato, pine nuts & tangy yellow chunks (I couldn't pick out what it was) just didn't really blend together.
    - Wine (ordered at the bistro) - PInot Noir & Cab Franc wasn't as good as their Merlot, Riesling & Icewine.
    - Dessert (we took to-go): Chocolate pecan pie was really good...Raspberry w/ chocolate mousse tart was ok.

Wine-tasting: We were allowed to choose our own selection of wines we wanted to taste.  The gentleman was very descriptive and polite.  The wines we tasted (Cab-Sav, Merlot, Riseling, and Icewine were all very well-balanced).

While this review might seem like this place wasn't that good, overall, we loved it the most of the 4 vineyards we visited.

I used to come here, when Ravine was also Oslon Foods @ Ravine. I, recently, dropped in for a visit during Victoria Day.

I can't say I want to tell them, that I love what they've done with the place. They have a greeter a la walmart, the second you come out of the car, which is a nice touch, because they do give you a quick overview of where to find to find what.

The two-storey house is where you can find the tasting room and and the "summer kitchen" and the green single level building is the bistro for sit-down service.

Please keep in mind that from this point onwards this review will only cover my experience in the Summer Kitchen

Since I was just stopping by to pick up lunch, and wanted some lighter fare, I opted for a visit to the summer kitchen and their sandwiches...

The summer kitchen used to be their VIP tasting room, I think. But Ravine's makes improvements, since then. However, because it was Victoria day, they were short-staffed and people, who would normally be running the tasting room, also running the summer kitchen...
I normally wouldn't care too much about it, but the tasting room staff were quite polite about it... but I can't help but feel like I was in the way and not very welcome, since they kept mentioning how they weren't trained on the stuff that was really the restaurant side of things, etc, etc.. (I'd ask why not, but that is neither here or there)

So I picked up a chicken salad sandwich, an Asian steak sandwich and a block of Gurnsey Girl Cheese, which totalled about $50, which isn't cheap, but that was because of the cheese; which was about $25...

The act of purchasing the cheese itself was a nightmare, I don't blame staff at all, but the fact that they were short-staff and they weren't trained.

Overall, it took awhile to be able to pay out, then once I came out, I realized Ravine doesn't offer any seating for those of us, who just came into the summer kitchen to get food, don't get the option of sitting somewhere on the property to eat and enjoy their sandwiches. I did think that for the price we paid for the sandwiches, I should have at least the option of being able to sit and enjoy them onsite, which i did...only in my parked car...

I thought the greeter was handy, but I'd rather have better customer service on the counter of the summer kitchen, rather than having someone to direct me where the food or wine was.

The restaurant most likely serves wine, I am not 100% sure if they do serve beer.

Hellz yeah, this place was a sweet find on my road trip to Niagara Falls from Toronto! Someone had recommended a winery stop at Niagara-on-the-Lake and we just happened to stumble upon this place. It does look pretty cool from the road!

The charming old farmhouse on the right is the wine-tasting room/house and the newer building on the left is French eatery with gorgeous views out back to the vineyard. We stopped in for a bite before our wine tasting. We asked for a seat closest to the vineyard and were easily accommodated. Our server was adorable- I developed a girl crush on her!

Everything we ordered, though they were out of a lot of stuff, was superb! We started with a cheese board and two order of frites. The aioli served with the frites was finger-lickin good! J'taime frites! The Puttanesca mussels were so delicious we asked for more bread to dip in the leftover sauce! For my entree I ordered the French Onion Soup, which was tasty but lacking my favorite part- the melted cheese on top. That's probably not a real French thing. Others ordered and raved about the omelet, prawns, and Salade Nicoise. The prawns were served on an elegant glass dish which was made more for decorative purposes than to be eaten off of and my friend had a little trouble with it!

Next we hopped on over for a wine tasting. I've never done one at a real vineyard but I thought three tastes for $5 was a bargain. The Meritage (was told it rhymes with heritage) was very nice. And I loved the Ice wine, though I know most people can't stand Ice wine!

There were several classy bach parties there and the farmhouse had a large room to accommodate them. So nothing obnoxious about it. The fog settling in was the perfect touch for such a charming place. I loved the whole experience. The only thing that would have made it 5 star worthy would be an outstanding patio overlooking the vineyard, which I'm happy to say they were working on...

I think someone took Kat K's review to heart, because they now provide patio seating for the summer kitchen. We stopped in to the kitchen, grabbed a chicken salad sandwich (the salad was good, I am not sure what was in it, bread was a little overwhelming), a cheese board, and a glass of wine. The cheese board was awesome-- I have never had to wrap up cheese to-go, but their cuts were very generous.

They have only started giving tours just a few days before we visited. Our tour guide was great, but I think it is pretty arrogant that they ask you to pay for your tour. Maybe this is normal for the Niagara-On-the-Lake region to pay for a tour (I'm not sure, is it?) but that doesn't make it ok. The tour is $10/person, you get three tastings, and then a $5 credit towards a bottle of wine. My partner does not even drink alcohol, so we asked if she could forgo the charge and take the tour for free. They said no, lame. We knew we would use the credits toward the bottles of wine, so it ended up not being a huge deal. Like I said, the tour guide was very knowledgeable, but a disappointment of the tour was that it was mostly outdoors and there was absolutely no showing of any of the production area. They said they could not show it because it was not really set up to be shown (hoses, machinery, etc.), but I think it was pretty sneaky to offer a tour for $10 which basically is a stroll through the vineyard.

Overall, it was a nice winery to stop at, I was happy with the food and wine. Just put off by the charges for the tours, especially when one of us was not going to drink the tastings. We did not dine at the bistro, but the menu looked enticing, maybe another time.

An absolute gem! Located just 20 mins outside the touristy chain filled Niagara falls is this quaint peaceful eatery and vineyard. They have tables all around their deck, practically in the vines and a few tables inside. They have a nice lunch menu and a few cases of delectable desserts and fresh teas.

After touring the falls and tasting wine at three vineyards we headed to Ravine for lunch. We sat out back on their deck overlooking the vines and were treated to the most serene lunch. We started with complimentary hummus, olives and small toasts. We had the roasted veggie sandwiches with goat cheese on ciabatta with side salad. Perfecto! I really wished I had saved room for dessert because they looked terrific.

Everyone was super friendly. I would go back in a heartbeat.

I second  Mark C.'s comments. I want to live here. Yes, right on the front porch during the summer months would be fine. The food, location and service are without compare. You can have a snack or a full meal. I made my second visit to Ravine during a spring wine tour in late May. Ravine also hosts onsite gatherings, such as catered dinners and weddings.

This was a lovely winery with a great gourmat restuarant.  We had luch and everything was outstanding....the presentation was excellent.  The staff was helpful and attentive.  The prices were rather high but they fit the quality.

A picturesque setting, outdoor dining in a gorgeous vineyard. Take the "wine flight". For the gourmet food, the prices were reasonable with good portions.
