This review falls slightly outside my usual realm of clothing stores and restaurants. Nonetheless, as someone approaching the time when I should be buying a home (yikes!), I found this Canadian mortgage site to be quite valuable.
(On a side note, my dentist over at 720 King West Dental, who`s also neither retailer not restaurateur, deserves a good Yelping as well)
http://RateHub.ca has an education center which covers all the mortgage basics and even a video for those of you too lazy to read everything. It's all very easy to understand, something that cannot be said for most other sites. Plus, it's not a bank pushing its own products.
After you've taken in all your newfound knowledge, you can calculate how much house you can afford with their mortgage calculators - which take into account virtually all expenses - using current mortgage rates. And these rates match the lowest ones I found anywhere online.
If you find yourself ready to take the plunge and actually talk to someone seriously about getting a mortgage, you just click on one of the rates and fill out your info. The mortgage broker I was connected with was very knowledgeable and friendly. He expertly suggested what was best for me, I could reach him at any time, and he made everything super easy. I'd definitely recommend him to a friend as well.
Overall, this is a good resource for anyone in the market for a mortgage or currently paying off a mortgage.
