Review from Esther G.
Vancouver, BC
My stay here was awesome, and if I were to stay in a hotel in the area again or if someone was looking for recommendations, I would give them this place.
I stumbled upon this hotel accidentally. My sights were first set on the hostel down the block, but after taking one look inside, I decided I'd shell a few extra bucks to stay in better furnishings. I called the Ramada for rates because it was literally right there. They gave me a discount from the current rate. Score! Off I went.
The room is small but sufficient. Queen-sized bed, good TV and bathroom. Breakfast is complimentary with bagels, coffee, two hot items, oatmeal, toast, waffles. Nothing fancy but still hit the breakfast spot. The Internet is free as well, but was spotty at times.
The front desk was super accommodating and nice. I needed to make a copy of something and asked where I could go close to the hotel, and they just made the copy for me!
I then decided to stay another night (New Year's Eve, no less) and they gave me the same rate, when they could've jacked up the price because it was a New Year's Eve, and it was Saturday night. I thought that was extremely nice.
The ice machine is on two floors. Unfortunately, one was broken but the other one was fine. The water pressure for the shower was pretty weak, too, but nothing to cry about.
I didn't want my room cleaned the first night and housekeeping actually called me to confirm. I've stayed in plenty of different hotels and never have they gone of their way to make sure I didn't need the room cleaned.
You can't beat the cost nor location of the Ramada. The SkyTrain is close, as is a number of bus stops. -

Clean and roomy. Right in the heart of downtown. Only minor downside is the ridiculously outdated list of area attractions. They claim to be home city to the newest NBA team, the Vancouver Grizzlies lol

My stay at this hotel was excellent. The room was clean albeit small. The staff where friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK - nothing spectacular but acceptable. The location is also great. It is centrally located and is a short walk from Canada place, Chinatown, or the BC place. The price was unbeatable.
I consider this hotel a great value and would stay here again. -

I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Vancouver. The location is great and it definitely doesn't have the price of a downtown hotel. Yes it is an older building but our room was very nice, obviously recently redone. Slate tiles in the bathroom, a great shower, nice linens, comfy bed... the room was on the small side but it was perfect for us. I'd much rather have a small, nice room than a big, crappy one (or a small, overly-expensive one). It's very close to Gastown so you can do your modern furniture shopping and pick up your tacky Canada souvenirs (seriously though, we loved Gastown). We also walked comfortably to and from GM Place, and the bus from Granville Island practically dropped us off at the hotel doorstep.
I could see some people being uncomfortable with the surroundings, but it is really fine unless you are scared of 20-somethings out for a fun night at the clubs on a Friday or Saturday, or polite homeless people asking for change. -

This place was AWFUL. The room that they reserved for me (using Hotels.com=which I would NOT recommend using) was a nightmare! The flooring in the middle of the room was adjoined from another hotel so there was a pronounced ^ uneven seam (not a flat surface). Aside from that it had this disgusting mixture of smells that were so nauseating. There was an old fashioned swamp cooler hanging from the wall. The front desk clerk was arrogant and gave me similar rooms to choose from on different floors, all were the same sorry old dated dark stinky room. The bed had a slump in the middle, the room had dated furnishings... are you getting the picture yet?
I do NOT recommend you waste your time here. The rooms are so old and if you think you will only be there long enough to sleep and leave you will be very disappointed with this hotel. Spend a few more dollars to avoid this place at all costs. Even if you are too cheap and think "we're only going to sleep here," you deserve better than this dive. Treat yourself right since you're on vacation.
I didn't risk spending a night here. I was afraid roaches would be crawling out when the lights went out. Instead I had to transfer to another hotel called Hotel La Soleil. Use the internet to book the room (AAA rate) directly from their website and hopefully during the season you are there you'll find a good price.
I was able to book the room using $118CAD+ all their taxes. (see my Hotel La Soleil review)
The Hotel La Soleil was a real swank hotel and in a great location approx two short blocks from practically everything downtown. I would definitely stay here again if I'm staying in Vancouver. If you are taking a cruise it is close to the Cruise Terminal and many of the cruise companies use this hotel for their guests (so I learned afterward). Those companies will charge you a lot more than if you booked the same room yourself. Do not stay at the Ramada Limited it's dark and nasty. -

This is a really nice place in downtown Vancouver. I would definitely recommend this! Staff is really nice and very helpful!
My room wasn't huge but plenty of space for sleeping and getting ready in the morning. Great place for a great price! -

This was a great all-around place to stay. We arrived early in the morning by cruise ship at Canada Place, and it was a quick walk to the hotel. They stored our bags without a fuss and completed our check-in so all we had to do was pick up our keys when we came back. The location is fabulous - a few block walk to Gastown, all forms of public transit (SkyTrain, SeaBus, bus), and a huge variety of restaurants and shopping.
The interior has been renovated recently and is clean and tasteful. This is an older urban building, so rooms are on the smaller side, but clean, comfy and well appointed. I greatly appreciate that the windows opened. The complimentary breakfast provided the basics - toast, bagels, cereal, coffee and juice, and one hot entree that changed each day. The breakfast area is compact, and busy, but the staff kept it clean and well stocked, so most of the time people were able to find a table right away. All the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. We got some good restaurant recommendations, and tips on where to find things.
At no time did I find the neighborhood unseemly or unsafe. It's location is perfect if you are visiting without a car, and an unbelievable value considering the room rates at places just a block or two away.
