Downright good, people. GO here and try anything on their menu, you will not be disappointed.
I had a chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, and I loved how juicy the sandwich was, and how tasty the fries were. I'm going back many times to try more things on the menu. Cheers! -

If I'm not mistaken, there is an unwritten rule somewhere stating that every major American city needs a handful of its own burger restaurants. Seattle has several of them, and this is one. Rain City Burgers makes a very distinctive attempt to remind customers that they are in fact eating in Seattle. They name their burgers after the local sports teams, and their logo is a picture of a Space Needle covered with an umbrella. Yeah, sounds about right to me. I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it.
There's not much about this restaurant to make it really stand out. It's located at a relatively plain street corner, and its sign isn't nearly as ostentatious as the one at Dick's. When I walked in, the place looked completely ordinary and was actually quite cramped. Carrying a large backpack with me at the time (I had walked from classes in the University District), I almost had difficulty navigating the narrow passageway to the seats in the back. It didn't look like the place would be anything outstanding, but thankfully I found myself to be wrong.
As is normally the case with restaurants I visit for the first time, I didn't know what to get. But I was absolutely famished at the moment and was closely eying the 12th Man Burger ($7.29) and marveling at its listed ingredients. It also just happened that a group of guys whom I presume to be Roosevelt High School students told me it was the best one. They must have the fortune to be able to come here on their lunch breaks and enjoy these delicious burgers. When I was in high school, people would make their way across the 520 bridge to go to Dick's and never make it back to class in time.
Anyway, the burger came after a wait of about ten minutes and, sure enough, it was a sizable thing. With two beef patties and four bacon slices, I don't suppose it's easy to make a burger that's not big. It was delicious and filling, and it only came to $7.98 after tax. That's way better than Uneeda Burger in Fremont. I also like the strong feeling that I get of supporting a local business here.
I really didn't need to eat any more, but I decided to go for a drink just because I could. I got a strawberry malt milkshake, and unlike the ones at Dick's, these appear to be fresh and made on the spot like the ones you might find at Baskin-Robbins. But unlike an ice cream store, these guys don't charge you five dollars or more for them. The milkshake really hit the spot on a hot spring day, and I want to go back to try some more. -

One of the best burgers I've had! The Mariner burger is just awesome, make sure to get extra Rain City sauce if you're into that kind of thing.
Super fresh ingredients every time plus the beef is top quality. Their shakes are great and they also sell mango lassi. Bonus!
One downside: don't come here during school lunch time unless you feel like hanging out with a bunch of Roosevelt kids. -

Quite possibly one of the best burgers I've had. The Rain City sauce is a perfect addition to the buttery beef they use.

I have had the Sounders Burger at least 10 times. It is awesome, it very well might be the death of me, but it is awesome. The Huskies burger, the bacon cheese burger, and the Hawaiian Burger are also excellent. In my opinion, though, the Sounder Burger is the BEST burger I have had in Seattle. I don't use that pronouncement lightly.
The healthier better half loves the veggie burger, which makes it a nice go to place. The service is always friendly and prompt, even when it is slammed, which in the last few months it is invariably.
If there can be a ding it is that their potato dishes are just good, not great. That said, if you let the Sounders burger drip all over the fries as you are eating it, the fries become a magical sort of jalapeno poutine.
Maybe someday this place will have beer.... aaaahhhh that would be trouble. -

Rain City Burgers offers a nice list of veggie burger options. Of the three Rain City burgers I have reviewed for http://seattleveggiebu..., the Mushroom Swiss Burger is certainly my favorite. Not only is it delicious and a great value, but it easily exceeded my expectations.
As is often the case, the toppings are the star of the Mushroom burger. With three big slices of portabella mushrooms draped in melted swiss cheese, it is easy to forget about the other toppings. Don't! This burger is also topped with an abundance of fresh lettuce, tomato, onion, and the delicious Rain City sauce. The worst thing I can say about Mushroom Swiss Boca Burger is that the patty if frozen. I would love to see Rain City offer a house made veggie patty, though it might slow down the incredible efficiency with which this restaurant functions.

Easy 4 star burger for 5 bucks and some change. I went with a bacon cheeseburger and it was awesome. I didn't love the fries but it was easily remedied with ketchup.
I will total do again when I am in the area.
Do it. -

The fries are really great. Their burger wasn't real great though. The meat seemed like it was from a frozen patty. I don't want to pay $11 for great fries, an average burger, and a soda.

FANTASTIC BURGERS!
They have a great menu-many wonderful, delicious, enticing burgers. Not gonna lie, I usually end up with the Husky burger...with onion rings..*begins to drool*.
You had better get a shake to finish the experience. Personally, i'm all about malts. The fries...are okay. Its really all about the burger. If 'fries' were in the title, I would definitely take this place down a star. But burgers are the main star here baby.

This place is LEGIT. I've only had the Mariner's burger it's packed with fatty goodness for its price. Avocado, bacon + cheese leads to a solid subsequent food coma.
Tater tots were good, nothing special, but not very many places offer them.
Only drawback was the shake which was powdery and the consistency just didn't seem right. -

I've been here twice. First time I got the Storm chicken burger and the second time I got the mushroom swiss boca burger.
The chicken burger was really good, but I feel like all chicken burgers taste the same. I wasn't in the mood to try any beef burgers which is why I chose the chicken. I definitely should have gotten a vegetarian burger that time then, so if you don't really like beef burgers, then get a vegetarian one!
The mushroom swiss boca was AWESOME. It was my first time having a boca burger and now I think I'll start eating more veggie burgers!! The flavor of the patty was nice, and the portabellas complimented it very well. If you like mushrooms, you should get a burger with mushrooms. The flavors mixed really nicely in that burger...next time I might try the Rain City Veg burger.
If the weather is nice on the day you go visit, get take out and walk 15 minutes east to Greenlake and have a picnic! -

What's the point of even writing a review of this place? Try it. It's awesome.
I'm a big fan of the boca burger with avocado, but my boyfriend swears to the salmon burger. And at the price, I don't feel totally guilty picking it up for lunch on a busy day.
Only thing, service could be a bit better. They have a stamp card which they never offered up and they've gotten our order wrong a couple of times. But hey, I can look past it. -

Really good burgers and they use high quality ingredients (could you guys PLEASE go organic on your produce and beef??). Yeah, if they used only organic, they would get a thousand star rating!
Great food, friendly people, really small "dining" area though - so squeeze in or take it to go or as my friend Raj says, "Take it and go". -

This place is incredible! I've lived in the area for awhile and have passed by this burger joint many, many times, but have never actually gone in. I am so glad I finally decided to try this place!
I had the Mariner's Burger - 1/4 lb burger, avocado, bacon, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, & rain city sauce. I subbed out the american cheese for blue cheese (epic move) and got it in a lettuce wrap instead of a bun. Yeah, it was wicked messy to eat, but it was absolutely delicious! All of the ingredients were extremely fresh, but the burger was a bit too well-cooked for my liking. It wasn't dry or anything, but I tend to like them on the medium-rare side and this one came out medium. They don't actually ask you how you want the burger cooked when you place your order, so I guess next time I go I will have to specify that I want it medium-rare.
I also got a side of sweet potato fries, which were awesome as well. I'm very picky when it comes to sweet potato fries, and these definitely passed the test. The other people at my table got the parmesan garlic fries, but I didn't think they were that good. They were soggy and greasy, while the sweet potato ones were well-cooked and weren't greasy like the other ones.
All of the employees were very friendly and the food came out super quick. It looked like there was only one guy cooking burgers that day, and we put in an order with about ten other people. I thought we were going to have to wait a long time for our food to come out, but everything came out surprisingly fast. Prices were very reasonable given the quality of ingredients and how damn good everything tasted. The only down side to this place is the seating - it is a VERY small burger joint and there isn't a lot of room to sit down and enjoy your food. I was with a group of 5 people and we had to squish into a corner. When I go next time, I think I'll just get take-out and enjoy somewhere else.
Can't wait to go back as they have a great menu and there are a lot of other burgers I want to try. -
Review from Eric A.
Wow! You seriously have to try this place - a really, really nice burger.
It's in a very small, cramped building on the corner of 65th and Roosevelt. Was packed when I was there (I was lucky a table opened up right as I got there, otherwise I was screwed - I can very easily see not being able to find a seat on any given day).
The 12th Man Burger is probably one of the top 10 double bacon cheeseburgers I've ever had. Great beef, delicious bun, 4 strips of bacon cooked perfectly, the exact amount of sloppiness from the sauce and the juices.. I'm just not sure how they could improve it - it's that good!
They have skinny fries which I could take or leave, but they do have real Coke which is nice..
This has to be one of the most under-the-radar places in Seattle, which is a shame because I would take them over any other burger in the city.
I wish (hope?) they get enough publicity to open up a bigger, better location because they really deserve to be more successful.. this place could easily challenge (and knock off) Red Mill burgers in my opinion. -

I returned the other night because this sounded vastly superior to Subway. I ordered the Mariners Burger, but subbed the American Cheese for blue cheese.
IT WAS FLIPPING DELICIOUS. DELICIOUS I SAY! I think im going to go for the 12th man burger next time, just so I can feel utterly disgusting eating so much meat.

Rain City easily placed top two in my favorite burger list! I had the Mariner burger and I savored every bite. I haven't stopped thinking about it since! I also had the onion rings which were really good too. I love the prices too! They are completely reasonable. I'm so tired of the overpriced burger joints. *coughLunchboxLaboratorycough*

Review from Jens J.
I have a new favorite burger in Seattle --- and it's the Mariner at Rain City Burger. I've driven by this little eatery at the corner of 65th and Roosevelt a million times over the last million years, promising to check it soon, but never following through. Well, last night I finally stopped by and was I glad I did!
Rain City Burger is rather compact - with only four tables and a counter. The interior has a sports theme going on: Roosevelt Roughriders, Sounders and Mariners. Might even have been some Seahawk décor.
In addition to burgers, chicken, and fish sandwiches, you can get a BLT, club or other sandwiches. Shakes are here too. Prices are typical for Seattle. I ordered a Mariner burger ($5.99) and tots ($2.49).
My Mariner burger was absolutely delicious. Besides the tasty patty on a very good bun, this burger contained lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado and bacon. The lettuce on the sandwich was high-quality and I especially liked how the lettuce had been julienned. I've never seen that technique applied before, but it is a good one. I liked the freshness of the avocado and enjoyed the thick slice of red onion on the burger. The pièce de résistance of the Mariner burger was its sauce - a little bit smoky and a little bit sweet.
The tots were straightforward (crispy with some, but not too much salt) and very good. And the portion served for $2.49 was generous.Listed in: SeaTown

Love love love the burgers here! Some of them are quite messy, but I haven't had one yet that I didn't enjoy! The one major downside is that the place is quite tiny, so if you've got a big group, you might want to take your burgers to go.

Fantastic! This place gave me a great burger the first time I went, and each time after is consistently delicious.
I moved from DC about two years ago, just as the District was getting an influx of really great burger joints. I've been on a mission to find a replacement, and having tried a number of options in Seattle, such as Red Mill, Blue Moon, Lunchbox, etc.., Rain City is probably my favorite so far (another great other option being Uneeda, but Rain City, while different, has a definite price advantage).
The ingredients are fresh, and the menu has a lot of interesting options (I've gone with the Mariner and the sounder, while trying bites of the basic cheeseburger and the Hawaiian). The key to any good burger/sandwich - the bread - is excellent. Tasty, great texture, and proportional to the rest of the burger.
On top of all that the prices are extremely reasonable. I have yet to try the sides, and I think the shakes could use some work, but the burgers themselves are excellent. -

The BEST burgers in Seattle. I used to think it was Red Mill until I got introduced to Rain City and now nothing compares. Big selection of beef burgers, chicken, and quite a selection for you vegetarians out there. Whatever you choose, I guarantee you won't be disappointed!!

For lunch today, I broke my diet plans because I was craving a burger like nobody's business. I got the Mariners burger and it was amazing. They put tons of sliced avocado on it just like I love and the beef was perfect. It will be hard to not get that same burger when I go back again but I will have to try the mushroom burger next. Why can't hamburgers be good for you? Wah... I am going to want to come here all the time now.......... !!! Darn you Rain City for being so GOOD.

my friends and family raved about this place, so i had to try it. i was impressed with their menu, especially all the vegetarian burger options. i had the hawaiian veggie burger, and it was good. good prices also. also had delicious sweet potato fries and a milkshake. the burgers were brought out timely, will definitely have to return and try some of the other burgers too.
just a heads up, this is a tiny shop, so there are less than 15 seats. -

Why 5 stars you ask? Good question, here's some reasons:
-The Staff know us AND our orders
-I've brought all of my out of town guests here...and they're hooked. Seriously. i get texts containing phrases such as "CRAVING SOUNDERS BURGER NOW" or "YOU SUCK...and you KNOW WHY"
-It's down the street and around the corner from me abode
-Not once ordered something i did not like. Burgers, chicken, fries, shakes...you.name.it
i less than three you RC Burgers-you're one of the best things about mah hood... -

I'm a pet nanny and while watching a couple of pups in the neighborhood I kept walking by this place. Every time it was busy and so I decided I had to try it.
What a great experience. I brought one of the pups in with me not knowing if it would be OK or not. Not only did the guy at the counter make her feel at home but even gave her a doggy biscuit!
I spoke with several of the customers while waiting for the food and everyone was so nice and raved about each ones "special" burger.
I got a burger and fries. They were fantastic, especially the hand-cut fries! I'll definitely go back and try another burger and the sweet potato fries. -

I found this place while walking through my new neighborhood. I am a sucker for a good burger so I figured I would stop in. The sign outside definitely drew me in - Sounders colors are easy to spot in Seattle.
I ordered a blue cheese and bacon burger, fries, and a soda. It was all very good. Paper cups for condiments were provided on the table, and there was a bottle of sriracha available next to the fountain machince. I mixed that with my ketchup for a delicious fry sauce.
Prices were very reasonable and I felt very satisfied with the food. I think the highlight of the experience was the service. The guy at the counter was really nice, and engaged me in conversation from the time I walked in until the food got brought out (they weren't very busy at the time). He made me feel like a regular, despite the fact that it was my first visit.
The portion of fries was bigger than average, and the burger was really big. The slices of bacon were thick and crisp, as were the red onions.
I really enjoyed my experience at Rain City Burgers and I will definitely be back. -

we also ordered milkshakes and sadly they were out of milk.. =(Listed in: Good Seattle Eats

Quick and really friendly service, decent prices.

For all us byproducts of industrialized, commercialized baby boom generations RCB presents a burger that surpasses all the major fast food chain burgers and provides simplicity to an all American classic eat, without the frills and thrills overpriced, quick serve gourmet burgers joints on the market tend to offer.
RCB does the thin patty right. The soft sesame bun lightly toasted, laced with smokey special sauce, filled with chopped green leaf lettuce, and standard toppings encompassed around a thin beef patty cooked through but moist enough, exceeding expectations of usually dry thin meat patty.
This ingredient combo plays up for the perfect mouth bite. From bun to bun without dislocating your jaw, each ingredient is bit, observed, chewed and liked with no back out the bun slide out. This is why I like RCB.
For roughly 10 bucks you can go and have a couple cheese burgers and fries. What a deal. Their hand cut fries are some of the better ones. They cut and fry. They don't go through the double cooking process of blanching then high heat frying. They are cut and fried. Small pieces, long pieces, a half soggy piece, the pieces that stab you in the gums if your not careful, a brown fry, a golden fry. I love my fries like that. Burger shop fries.
I would like it if RCB posted what producer they are buying their beef from. Accessible information for the public to observe what is that producers definition of NATURAL beef. As the defintions of NATURAL are very ambigous and left to the producer to define.
To give RCB another shout, good job on making your to go packaging all food waste. This is a huge plus.
RCB, my goto spot for affordable burger fulfillment, but truthfully I stick with the vegan boca burger 70% of the time. Same tasty flavor and a bit more earthy because of the boca flavor profile. All you born again vegetarians that were force fed Micky D's by your abusive parents will like the boca burger at RCB.

Consistently good food & service every time I'm here. I always come here with at least one kid (mine), and often his friends as well. Ordering food at a counter for three 10- & 11-year-olds plus one or two adults gets complicated. Leave off the lettuce on this one, add mushrooms to that one, extra cheese on that other one, 3 orders of tater tots...no make that 2 orders & one of parmesan garlic fries, and so on. I really try to make it simple, but it never is, and it never matters. They're seamless here, and have always gotten our order right, no matter how difficult. Down to bringing out enough ranch for all the boys even though I only remembered to ask for one. It takes a village.
The veggie burgers I get aren't quite as transcendental as the ones at that Phinney Ridge place I go sometimes, but they're very good (the mushroom swiss one especially) and the total experience of habit-forming sweet potato fries, accessible counter help if someone decides after the fact that they DO want fries this time after all, actual seats available, and the ability to pay with the card in my pocket puts them a star ahead. -

This was my go-to burger place when I lived in Seattle. The eating area is a little cramped, but totally worth it. You can order to-go, but I loved chomping down on some natural beef while reading The Stranger and watching people on Roosevelt Ave (there were some odd folks). One of the many things I miss about Seattle is the amazing food, and this one tops the list.
I recommend the Hawaiian burger if you want something sweet or the Sounders burger if you want a kick.
