North York, ON
Lobby/Check In:
The Radisson in my mind is a little bit older and grungy at times. Basically, a chain of hotels that meets basic needs. However, this Radisson far surpassed my expectations.
The lobby is clean and modern and extremely comfortable chairs dot corners and walls. High ceilings give the entrance a bright airy look.
Check-in was a pleasure. It is a two-person counter which means at a busier time slot, be prepared to wait a bit, however, I was fortunate to have checked-in at 5pm and it was a breeze. We were asked if parking was necessary, given hotel keys (two sets), explained where the main restaurant was located (The Watermark), a 25% gift certificate for dinner at The Watermark, and were provided the password for free Wi-Fi access.
Room Number 712.
There are 8 floors in total. We stayed on the 7th floor, and again, the room far surpassed my expectations. First impressions: clean smell (unlike some hotels where you can smell that bathroomy-curtain-shower-mildewy smell...), modern (signature dark woods), comfortable (lounge chair in the corner) and surprisingly large for a city-view room.
What makes this room feel even more comfortable are the two large windows on either side of the wall providing lots of light to flood in. A working table and a television provide all the basic amenities one can ask for. As a FYI, there is no mini-bar but a fridge where you can put drinks and food in. A coffee machine is provided with coffee and tea and two cups (all clean).
Bathroom was very clean. Signature amenity kit provided with products of no particular brand. Hairdryer is attached to the wall (not a standalone). One nice feature was the shower curtain where they had a big see-through mesh strip (near the top of the curtain) so you can look out. I thought this was a nice touch so that it is not too dark when you are showering (sometimes thick curtains can be a tad claustrophobic).
Bed was very comfortable with lots of different size pillows to cater to everyone's taste.
Noise-Level.
I think this should be a category on its own when reviewing rooms - nothing can be worse than hearing annoying things or sounds (especially when you are trying to sleep!)
The hotel is very close to Queens Quay main street so if you book a city view room, be prepared to hear the street cars rumbling by. I have to say however that this was not a major problem for me. I am very noise sensitive and something as inconsequential as a car driving by can have me stay up for hours on end. But the street cars were not a concern.
The air-conditioning/heating vent was not noisy so crank the temperature up or down and you will not be bothered.
Be prepared to hear doors banging and occasional noises from the hallways. This was the one thing that I noticed during my stay. It could just be the room I stayed at, so this would be the only negative aspect.
Extras.
There is a roof-top pool that would be awesome during the summer months, sizeable but not long enough to do serious lap swimming.
Direct access to Shoeless Joe's Restaurant.
There is baggage storage for you to leave your bags - no charge.
Conclusion.
I would highly recommend The Radisson Queens Quay location as it ticks all the boxes of basic meets. The rate I stayed at was at a discount of $149/night excluding taxes and additional room-charges (as of September 4th, 2011), however, the regular rate was $189/night (as of September 4th, 2011). Still, for that price and for its unbeatable location of right being at the waterfront and Queens Quay, this hotel has HUGE value. Closest subway station is Union so this hotel is very close to all the major downtown hotspots if not for its close proximity to the subway and streetcar.
There is a small gift shop at the corner of the lobby, however for longer stays, there is a Shoppers Drug Mart and Rabba's Food Store directly across the street where you can purchase snacks and water. I would recommend this option so you don't have to pay hotel prices and you can just put the items in the fairly large fridge.
A definite stay for next time.
Hotel Rewards Program.
The Radisson chain is part of the Club Carlson Rewards Program which includes Country Inns & Suites, Park Inn by Radisson, and Park Plaza. Please visit the following link for further information on the rewards program. Although a frequent traveller, I am not a member of this program, but for those who frequent any of the above hotels, I think it would be worth a look.

I WOULD RETURN.
We stayed one night. Checkin was easy and you pay for parking.
We did reserved a 2 queen bed room, but we got a king size bed. We didn't say anything, since it was just for one night. The BED was very very comfortable. It was a sleep number bed, which we all enjoyed. TV was pretty big. BATHROOM was a decent size. CLOSET was a little small. COMPLIMENTARY water. COFFEE MAKER available.
MINI FRIDGE available in the room if you want to use it
NO ICE MACHINE oddly enough. My friend took the ice from a cart outside lol You could probably order it, but I don't know if it would cost anything
NO MICROWAVE if you wanted one
NOISE: If you are a light sleeper, this might not be a good hotel for you. You can easily hear the people outside the hall. It did not bother me or my friends though.
CONVENIENCE: 24 hour Rabba across the street and many restaurants across the street as well. Starbucks coffee down the block. 15 minute walk to the nightclubs.
VIEW: Nice view of the CN Tower.
PRICE: A bit pricey, but I understood why. Around $200 for the one night. -

The Radisson is lovely - the room we got had a view of both the skating rink and the road.. and as requested, we were able to get a room on the 7th floor.
The room was actually a business suite I thnk.. at least from the photos I saw on the website. The room seemed to be separated into sections - with the bed on one side, then separated by a fireplace / table where the TV was on top of the fireplace... and a lounge chair on the other side.
A little disconnected, but unique in it's own way. What was even more peculiar was the TELESCOPE! It was so funny - reminded me of the Simpsons episode when Homer is looking in his telescope and sees another man starring back at him doing the same thing!!!!!
I love white sheets! and the bed was adjustable in firmness - on BOTH SIDES! The bathroom was fancy with towels hanging on a ladder, yes I said I ladder! There is bath tub, and a clear glass shower - straight old school showerhead - very cool.
I forgot toothpaste and was so relived that the hotel had extra travel case ones. Only minor distraction is that you hear the electrical TTCs from time to time. Aside from that, I found it odd that room service came by at 6pm at night.. not quite sure, but I'm not going to dwell on it.
There is a nice walking trail with lights where you can see all the boats, and in the winters be able to go to the Queens Quay skating rink before hitting some nice restaurants. 3.75* -

Fantastic! Convenient location, lovely and comfortable.
We paid a little extra for a lakeview room, which I'd totally recommend--practically a whole wall was windows, with a great view of Lake Ontario, the harbor, the islands across the way, and a small (quiet) little airport, where it's fun to watch the tiny planes take off and land all the time.
After looking at photos online, I was hoping there'd be a telescope in our room...SK rolled his eyes at this, sure that the telescope we saw online was just for advertising, not for real. But I see in the other review that telescopes are, indeed, an option! Maybe just in the fancy suites.
We parked in the hotel garage--$21/day isn't too bad for this kind of thing, and the garage was underground and guarded--much less extortionate (and better parking) than you'd get at a comparable hotel in, say, Chicago.
Bed and bedding were super comfy (we were supposed to have an adjustable Sleep Number bed, though, and I don't think we did...maybe that's just in the fancy suites, too).
No Continental Breakfast; restaurant/lounge on the 5th floor where you can get pricey Eggs Benedict (we didn't eat there, but nice to know it's there).
The shampoo smelled nice, but the in-room coffee was WEAK!
Street car line runs right outside, just a couple blocks from the CN Tower, the Rogers Center, and the Entertainment District.
Would definitely recommend it, and go back!Listed in: Beds, sometimes with…

Like most three star hotels, the Radisson is okay. I booked on Hotwire for a bargain-basement ~$75/night.
Of course, booking with a super discount rate meant that we got rooms facing the street instead of the lake -- I'm sure the lake-facing rooms are way cooler and have sweet stuff like telescopes, but the street-facing rooms are pretty basic. No telescopes, just two double beds and an alarm clock from the early 90s. Clean, decently comfy beds, a few hangups with the shower, free wifi.
Mediocre rooms aside, the location is pretty good. It's easy to get anywhere downtown, and easy to hop on the Gardiner Expressway if you're heading to points outside the city.
I'd stay here again, but probably not at the full asking price. -

I was really impressed with this hotel. I was in Toronto on business but this hotel felt more like a pleasure. The lobby staff was knowledgeable about the local area and what was within walking distance for food and attractions. The room was well appointed. The hotel bar/restaurant area overlooks Lake Ontario, which was wonderful!
What I didn't like was the size of the room. It was overly cramped for two queen beds. I also found that the curtains didn't really block out that much light from the street (government rate =/= view overlooking the street). The room also didn't get cleaned one day, even though we were all out and didn't have a do not disturb sign on the door. The floor layout was kind of weird too, but that has to do with what is required of a structure that's essentially sitting on lake mud. -

We stayed at this hotel on a Friday & Saturday night in early 9/03. As per our (advance) request, our room was on the top (8th) floor and we had a GORGEOUS view of the lake & downtown. It was definitely worth the extra cost!
