Ever eat something that's "crazy delicious"?  No, I'm not talking about red vines.  Quinn's is what people consider a true gastropub, a pub with ridiculously awesome food paired with microbrews/belgian beers.  I definitely have to rate this place as one of the tastiest pub food places I've ever eaten at.

    Here's what we ordered:
    1) Ox-tail with Bone marrow custard:  The sixth sense Umami at it's best.  If you're not a fan of rich foods, stay away.  But if you are, be prepared to experience bliss.  The flavors were dense, perfectly seasoned, and just plain tasty.  Remember that SNL song "Jizz in my pants?"  You get the picture.

    2)  Sloppy Joe with Duck Egg:  Ordering this with the Duck egg is a must.  I've never really been impressed with a sloppy joe as much as this one.

    3) Chicken Medalions:  Flavors were awesome and I can tell the chef took a lot of time to prepare this dish.  Portions of chicken are on the small side, but the TLC makes up for it.

    4) Lemon Cheesecake Ice cream: According to my girlfriend, it was THE best ice cream she's ever had in her life.  It takes a LOT to earn that title as I'm sure she's eaten gallons of gourmet ice cream.

    5) Chocolate crunch bar: This was good but pretty standard.  I'd skip this one.  At least it was only $3.  =)

Best restaurant that I ate at in Seattle...PERIOD.  Service was a bit spotty, but the waiter was cool and gave us a free beer (limited edition 25th anniversary La Trappe!!!).  How awesome is that?

Went here 2 years ago and it was amazing. So amazing that the only thing on our to-do list when we returned to Seattle was to visit Quinn's.

I don't know if the management has changed, but this visit was an utter disappointment.  When we arrived, there were lots of vacant tables, but our hostess decided to seat us at the same table as another party. ... A communal table?  I guess we'll see how this goes.  The lighting in that corner of the restaurant was practically non-existent; we had to use the glow from our cell phones to read the menu.

While at the communal table, I was forced to keep getting up out of my seat as the waitress used my area to get to her customers.  Then, a waiter handed us some caramel corn and we thought that it was complimentary, until the waitress came up to us and said, "uhhhh, that wasn't supposed to be for you."  Understandable mistake, but it wasn't until we got our check that we noticed they CHARGED us for their mistake.

We asked to change tables to avoid any further annoyances and were met with two sets of rolling eyes.

Finally, we got our food, and found it to be much less desirable than our last trip.  The kale was good, but the pork terrine and pig face nuggets were lacking.  The nuggets were overly fatty and over-salted.  The kale was over priced for being sauteed kale with maple syrup and pecans.  Also, they really shouldn't advertise something as coming with salad if the salad in question is four pieces of arugula.  And the Cocchi Cocchi cocktail I had tasted like straight vermouth with a twist of orange.

Will sadly not be going to Quinn's again.  For the best gastropub in Seattle, try the Black Bottle.

CAN I JUST SAY, OH MY GOD! I went to Quinn's for the first time on a friends recomendation on their burger. I wasn't expecting to have it become my new favorite place on the hill and the best burger I have ever had.

Their classic burger is amazing, the Ultra Burger with fois grois and fois grois fries is beyond words. I'm salivating just thinking about it. Oh, and did I mention the oxtail? I would marry this oxtail in NC and raise beautiful children with it, its that good.

Beyond that, great wine, dessert was good but nothing to go crazy over. This is a place for FOOD and lots of it. I recommend going with a group of 4 or less because it is kind of small, and just getting all that you can eat.

    Dear Quinn's,

I forgot how busy you can be but I like that we can go to the bar until a table has open up to us.  I love the feel of your unpretentious space with all the lighting and the large window to stare out the busy streets...because people watching is so entertaining to me.

I love that you specialize in beers, whiskeys and bourbons.  I love you always carry several Trappist ales, brewed inside monastery walls by Trappist monks, and always have 14 beers on tap.

I love that your Quinn's Old Fashioned with marker's, bitters, sugar, and sparkling water is a familar taste with a twist but also quenches my thirst everytime. Two of these Old Fashioned puts me into the right state of buzz. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Everyone you staff is uber friendly and very helpful.  I like that I can come here for a drink on a spur of the moment and always run into cool people I know like Ian M.

Your food has an unique twist on traditional fare like what we ordered from our last visit for example the Bone Marrow, Wild Boar Sloppy Joes, and Braised oxtail.

It was so on point that I left nothing behind on my plate and lick it like a dog. You are a foodie's dream of unique culinary masterpiece. Your bone marrow is soooooo DAM GOOD!  The crispy onions on top of the wild board sloppy joe is a nice touch of my child hood favorite dish. The Braised oxtail is soooo tender and flavorful. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I do have one complaint that you only have two bathrooms and I keep seeing a line to use it so please see what you can do to upgrade your bathrooms or else someone might end up peeing on the floor or in their pants. You still get 5 stars because I love coming here for an Old Fashioned and devouring your unique comfort foods! I keep hearing that you have one of the best burgers, so I need to come back soon to devour it.

    Best Regards,

Um. Foodgasm. This was easily one of the best places I've ever eaten, if you're anywhere even slightly near Quinn's, you'd be a fool not to go. Everything we had was fantastic. We started off with the fries with demi glace and stinky cheese which were a whole new take on poutain. I also tried the salt cod fritters which were fantastic. They were the perfect example of how fried foods don't have to be greasy. I absolutely loved them. We also had a wild boar sloppy joe that was phenomenal, and a pork tenderloin with fingerling potatoes that was equally as good as everything else we ate.

I also really loved the look of the place. It's extremely good food in an unpretentious setting at very impressive prices. The wood that is basically featured throughout the establishment is fantastic and super rustic. It has all the charm of eating in some kind of barn minus hay, plus lots of excellent booze.

Go to Quinn's. You will love it.

Color me both surprised and impressed.

When I heard we were meeting friends of a friend at a pub in Capitol Hill, I thought for sure we were in for a crappy meal sitting alongside a bunch of kiddies trying entirely too hard not to be trying anything at all. I was certain we were going to be too old, not cool enough or a multiplication of both. Come to find out, there's a great eatery that even grown ups will enjoy in the heart of Trendy Town.

Make no mistake, there is no shortage of beautiful people at Quinn's. Whether it be sport jackets with logo tees, atypical colored loafers or oversized glasses, it's here. The good news is you're in Seattle, which means no one really gives a crap if you show up looking like you just came off a three day bender in Reno, Nevada. Smile, have a good time and you'll do just fine.

Then there's the food. I can't remember the last time I had a hard time picking from the five things I *really* wanted to order. I ended up going with the foie gras and bone marrow "small plates," leaving the beef tartare, braised oxtail and pig face nuggets for another visit. Hey, I'm watching my figure. Both dishes were an excellent specimen of their respective classes and wifey's pork terrine thingy was equally as delicious. I was well and truly caught off guard by how good the menu and food was.

I docked a star for two reasons. The first is it was so freaking loud, you couldn't hold a conversation with someone two seats away. I don't expect any different given what it is and where it is, but I'm starting to get to an age where that gets old after two hours. The second reason is the detached and seeming overworked staff. Our waitress was nice enough, but she seemed befuddled and inconvenienced when I asked for her opinion before ordering.

Oh! Oh! They have Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly on tap! Rejoice!

I'm going to start this off with words to reassure you all that I came here with an open-mind... I wanted to like this place more. I really did!

I mean, have you seen their menu?

For someone who loves "exciting" food, their menu is the "food lover" picture equivalent of a unicorn kissing baby puppies under a rainbow. Oxtail, pork belly, bone marrow, pig face... I mean some might be intimidated by those words but to me those are synonymous with flavorful.

But every dish -- while it was satisfying -- was lacking in one way or another. And as it set my expectations really high, I found myself underwhelmed. The breading seemed to clash with the pig face (or, for the fainthearted, that's really just another way to describe pork cheeks which, because of its proximity to the bone and its high fat content, is a very flavorful cut), the bone marrow could have been roasted just a little bit longer, etc.

The food is certainly very thoughtful! My negroni was perfect and they have quite the selection when it comes to liquor and other alcoholic drinks. Service was nothing memorable. I'd recommend this place but I do wish they would fine-tune some dishes to elevate it into the experience it seems to have the promise to be.

    Fun and delicious new experience!

I had researched this place off of Yelp, checked out their website and knew I had to go. Mainly because I always wanted to try beef tartare and this place had it, but they also have some other extremely cool menu items.

    FOOD:
The beef tartare - I could have eaten a whole bowl of it. It's seasoned wonderfully, and topped with a quail egg yolk. How unctuous can you get?! It's easily among the best things I've eaten.

Bone Marrow - I've had this dish before, and their version was no slouch. Also recommended.

    DRINKS:
Cool bar with lots of good options for cocktails and brew. Unfortunately, I had already had a few before arriving, so I just had a beer.

    ATMOSPHERE;
Right up my alley - a lot of dark wood, simple, totally pub-ie.

I hope I can go back some day.

If you are going to wait for so long to finally go to Quinn's, then you pick a good reason. Like the Triumphant Return of everyone's favorite Irish Drunk (that's redundant) Sean T.!

I had a really good time here. Though we stayed at the bar, even as our group grew and any other bar would have been quite pissed about us cramming up their main space (I guess it pays to be there with folks who dominate the check-ins and who everyone knows by name and liver size) and it made it a bit crowded at times, it was still possible to mingle, grab a seat and enjoy some good beers.

I see why everyone likes it here, and I think I will be sure to go back again for drinks, and to try the food.

Only 3 stars because the bartenders, though super nice and great guys, spent a ridiculous amount of time just doing nothing or putzing around, even when there were clearly upwards of 6 people trying to get their attention and order drinks. Multi-tasking or being busy is one thing, but never looking up or acknowledging waving hands or just your customers in general is kind of not OK, when that's a main portion of your job description.

Given how busy the were just with our group, let alone all the orders coming from upstairs and the dinner crowd...this meant some folks  waited upwards of 10-15 minutes just to be able to get an order in for a drink. Which, isn't all that atypical at a busy bar, right? sure, but usually the bartenders aren't just standing there chatting or mindlessly polishing glassware while those orders stack up and people stand aimlessly waving at them from the bar.

The decor is nice, the set up isn't at all bad, the location is pretty good for the Hill and I had a great time.

Looking forward to going back again and again, and hopefully experiencing Quinn's in full.

My wife and I went out last night for beer week with the intention of getting several small plates and a few beers. And that mostly panned out - The food was awesome as usual but the service, oh my god, the service was terrible.

    1. If everything on the Beer Week's site says your beers are half off "All day every day" during beer week, and that isn't the case, TELL THE PATRON BEFORE HE STARTS ORDERING BEER. None of this "oh, that was a misprint, they're regular price". I shouldn't have to haggle like this is an Arabian market when the check arrives and just hope your manager rectifies it. The more I think about this specific part of the service, the more I regret leaving any tip in at all because it was ridiculous. If I'm spending upwards of $80 why would you poison the well over $10? My wife and I come here fairly regularly and we had our rehearsal dinner here where we dropped more than a grand on food and drink. We are loyal to the food but stuff like this is amateur hour.

    2. It took us almost 10 minutes for our first beer to arrive. Now granted, that might be the bartenders fault but you gotta expedite that if and get on his case if he's just being lazy. It wasn't crazy busy when we came in either. The bar was full but only 2-3 tables were occupied.

    3. Clearing my plate before I am finished. We ordered the pretzel with welsh rarebit and we used the small plates provided to put our pretzels on. My wife finished her before mine and with about 3-4 bites left our waitress just picked up the plate with the rarebit on it, didn't even ask if we were done.

    4. Getting an order wrong. It happens, it sucks. We ordered the frites with foie gras and I feel like a monocle wearing plutocrat for complaining about this but...The frites came out without any foie gras. We of course waited about 5-10 minutes before our waitress came around because there certainly wasn't any check in on how everything was. But when we said the order was wrong, what happened? She had the cooks sear some foie gras and put it in a ramekin on the side. What is that? Is that how it usually comes out?

This experience gives me some apprehension of coming back for a while. If they hired one person who seems this green, I don't know what it'll be like the next time we go there. Good food, bad service? That's just not worth it given the other options around the area popping up now.

I was starving and ready for some American fare when Quinn's popped up on my Yelp app, thank goodness it did! This place is a trendy, warm gastropub. We were seated in the cute loft upstairs and I was very happy that they had glass bottles of water waiting on the tables, very nice touch. Our waitress was very warm and we had great service throughout our meal. Oh the meal...

We started with the crispy pig face nuggets and didn't regret it for a second. There were 3 little crispy cakes and the spicy dipping sauce helped to bring the savory flavor to another level. I was clapping with delight at the sight of my beef coulotte and short ribs, such a beautiful plate and unbelievably delicious. The meat was cooked perfectly and I was sure to slather each bite with the caraway jus. I uncovered the short rib in the center of my plate hidden under the cabbage, it was the perfect mix of fat and meat, so savory. The fingerling potatoes and the pearl onions were a great compliment, but the beets stole the show. They were cooked perfectly with just a hint of salt. I didn't quite get the cabbage, but I was happy to eat around it. My husband had the fish and chips and they were also very well done. The fish was covered in a flaky, delicate batter and cooked to perfection.

Needless to say, we were very happy when we walked out. This place does upscale pub fare without making it pretentious. Well done Quinn's!

I came here with low expectations, not based on anything concrete at all, it was just that nothing really jumped out at me from the menu.  And now I think that's the best way to approach every meal, because I was awestruck by nearly everything I tasted.

I had skimmed yelp for frequently referenced dishes and settled on the boar sloppy joe, even though it frankly didn't sound like it would be that great -- I am just not your typical sloppy joe kinda girl.  But good lord was that messy little dish just bursting with layers and layers of flavor.  It had a spicy component that I would have sworn was some sort of exotic pepper that I had never tasted, but our server let me know it was regular old red pepper flakes.  However, whatever the chef did to marry those ordinary red pepper flakes to the sauce and wild boar was a revelation.

I also had a crisp and refreshing salad of shaved spring vegetables and baby lettuce, which was the perfect paring with such a rich and hearty main dish.  My friend had the burger, which was good, but compared to the sloppy joe, it just seemed not so special.

But want to know what was the most special thing on the entire menu?  Their house made cultured butter.  Best butter I've ever tasted.  Not even exaggerating.

I can't wait to go back and try more dishes, and I do believe that Quinn's might just be a frontrunner in the 'where will Kara try seared Foie Gras' contest that's been running in my head for the past couple of years.

Ugh. I totally regret not taking pictures of everyone's food at dinner. I was trying to avoid looking like the girl with the obnoxious bright flash ruining everyone else's dim-lit dinner ambiance. But halfway into the meal, I realized the two guys sitting near us were flashing away at their food with their cameras. I wondered to myself if they were going to upload them immediately onto Yelp, like I diligently do. Hopefully they did so I won't feel as bad for not photo-documenting my fantabulous meal.

But honestly, after I took a few bites of my crispy chicken and a bite of everyone else's beef, burger, halibut and salad, I was overjoyed and totally enthused by the wondrous flavors from all the different meats. The large plates ranged from $15 to $19 which I thought was decently priced for the quality of food. My chicken portion was actually VERY satisfying because I was definitely full.

My review is not chronological because we actually had about an hour wait for our group of five to get seated around 8:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. The restaurant is huge but man, this place gets packed... AND FOR GOOD REASON! It was the weekend so I wanted to start off my highly-anticipated meal with a fancy cocktail. I opted for the Salinger's Orchard drink - which had some bubbly, apple cider and something else. I was totally blown away by the first sip because it tasted so much like whiskey to me at first - which I am seriously afraid of and disgusted by... but after a few more sips and just relaxing in the chairs by the front door. I was into my cocktail. I was taking in all the people-watching, bright lights outside and the chatter around me. I felt good and the drink actually made the long wait easier.

Service was spectacular too - our host was polite and our server was humorous and personable. He seemed tired and kind of drunk at first but we soon realized that was just his style. He was very helpful and polite and felt genuine.

I appreciated him, the restaurant, the food, the atmosphere... and everything in between. This is my new favorite restaurant and I haven't found a new favorite in a long time! Cheers to five stars for Quinn's!!!

I am experiencing a loss for words to do Quinn's justice. What makes this place uber cool, is its unpretentious simplicity of decor and space, and a bartender that responds to "I wasn't too crazy about this particular cheese" with "well, It didn't like you either!" ...followed by a handsome smile.

But once you open the menu, you instantly realize you just walked into awesomeness. Their web page describes it as "a unique twist on traditional fare", I call it impressive & creative culinary adventure!

Selection of beers & bourbons that looks like a hand picked fancy wine list. Pig face nuggets, bone marrow, oxtail and foie...seriously?!

    - Beef tartare with quail egg, absolutely delicious. Fresh, rich, slightly salty/tangy. Oh my.
    - Country style pork terrine: creamy, slightly sweet with grilled bread slices. I was enjoying it so much, so when we had to run to met up with other friends, I could not leave anything on my plate, I literally grabbed it in a napkin and finished it on the street.
    - Even something as simple as a beer cheese sauce for a pretzel was fantastic.

Not to mention the bartender makes possibly one of the best French 75 and real espresso martini cocktails!

    I'm coming back every weekend.

Great pub with great food. I ordered the lamb pastrami sandwich and it was very tasty. The arugula went well with the peppers. The only thing I'd change with that dish, is to offer a few more  panisse frites. The four that came with the dish were very good though!

Before we got our table, we had some drinks at the bar which was suppper packed! Granted it was a Friday evening, but it was pretty nuts in there (which is a good sign.) Nice establishment and the 2nd floor has a nice authentic pub feel. Our server was great and very attentive. The menu looked very appealing - traditional "pub" food with a modern twist.

I'll definitely be coming back to Quinn's!

First of all, could the staff be any cuter? I mean, seriously.
Luckily they are also super-sweet and competent.

Sat at the bar with a friend waiting for friend 2 to join before we got a table.

Ordered a couple Bulleit bourbons and ginger and asked the bartender to make house ginger ale if he could. He could and he did.

Two minutes after he gave us our drinks, he came back over and confessed he was so focused on making the ginger he forgot to add the Bulleit.
    Hilarious.
    And quickly remedied.
And the drinks were spot on.

Got a table when friend 2 arrived.
Enter cheese plate, Oxtail, Pork Belly, and pure food bliss.
    Small plate style for sharing.

Great casual, comfortable decor with a dash of cool.

Had a blast here. Good food, good drink, good company - including the staff.
    The trifecta.
    Highly recommend.

Ok. Two words - Quinn Burger.

I'm not much of a burger fan, but this literally left me dreaming about burgers (forgive me, for I have sinned)! The crisp bacon, the juicy meat, the fresh yet buttery bun... it all combines to make for the the perfect bite (or lots-O-bites for me). Wow. It also comes with fries, which were just as delicious.

I wish I would have ordered a few more things so I could rant and rave about how amazing those things were, as well - but, I could barely finish my burger! I did save room for deserts (notice the "s").

Our table shared 3 desserts among 3 people. This wasn't planned, but there was a wee-bit mistake on our order, and the staff gave our table complimentary desserts and a round of drinks. This speaks to the amazing service at Quinn's. I mean, that IS service; impeccable! I was extremely impressed by their sincerity and offerings. Thank you, Quinn's. The fact that the dessert was mouth watering was just a plus.

We ordered the soaked cake, nutella bar, and I believe it was bacon ice cream. Each one was amazing in its own right. Desserts are tough and many innovative restaurants so easily mess this up! Quinn's did not and very much satisfied my sweat tooth, and concluded our meal on a very nice note.

SO, Food = great. Service = awesome. Dessert = to die for. What more could you need? Maybe some dimly lit ambiance and scruffy swag. There you have it... Quinn's has it all.

I can't wait to come back. Quinn and I are like tight now.

Four words: wild boar sloppy joe! Can you say "YUMMY?" Top it off with the sunny side up duck egg and you will be even more impressed. One of the tastiest sandwiches I've had in Seattle. We've had some other fantastic food there, including the fontina fries, one of the best burgers in Seattle, the lamb and pastrami, and my wife's favorite, the spicy caramel bacon popcorn. She keeps threatening to take a bag in and try to talk them into filling it up with that popcorn. She does keep asking them to start bagging it and selling it to go.

Always good service and a very big beer and whiskey menu!

$6.00 gets you an 8oz cherry/orange simple syrup soda (WOW, tasty!) -- A lot of the food they serve here come from local vendors in the Seattle area. I always make an effort to keep the money local and to support our Seattle small businesses, dining at Quinn's is a great way to do that!

I could sit here and write you an essay about how amazing this place is, but its just one of those spots that you must put on your bucket list. If available, order the spicy bar peanuts.... you'll die. Quinn's Pub in Capitol Hill deserves my "FAB STAMP."

A great place for a relaxed dinner, people watching, nothing stuffy about it.  The food is pretty damn good.  I'm a fan!

Ohhhhh I keep hearing about Quinn's, I gave in and gave it a try!!!

I must say that I was impressed with that place!!! I loved that the wait staff looked so casual, yet was so knowledgeable about the items on the menu it was like being served by a link on http://wikipedia.com! (i.e. the beer made by the monks) The food was really good! I was told a million times over to try the sloppy joes so I caved in and had one! Holy Smokes that thing was nummy!!! I was very very impressed!!! I also had one of those monk made beers. It tasted exactly how the waiter said it would taste! I absolutely loved it!!!!

I loved the look of the place. So much natural light and candle lights!!!! I bet they have one of the cheapest light bills in Seattle!!!!  All In all I really did enjoy the place and i cant wait to go back and have a burger!!!!

(Caveat: we only had drinks, post-dinner&dessert)

Drink menu offers a wide variety, I like that they change out what's on tap every so often. They ran out of two beers that were on the current menu but had comparable substitutes. Service was fast and friendly at the bar, attentive.

Menu is very "Seattle/Capitol Hill", i.e. small plates/large plates, a whole random assortment of meats paired unconventionally (my friend's comment: "what do they do? just get a dart board and see where the dart lands to decide how to cook their dishes?")

Great setting, and to top it off, the bathrooms were nice (yes, I judge bathrooms), and I was pleasantly surprised (extremely spacious, took the time to paint/decorate). Looking forward to trying their food next time.

    Order the Old Fashioned.

    That's all.

Well, that's not all. Feel free to read on but all you need to know is order the Old Fashioned.

After bringing a friend from out of town to Poquitos and Marination Station we were still looking for somewhere to have a few drinks when he said he wanted the best drink in Seattle. Now, I think "best drink" is such a complicated and tricky term because, for me, best drink can mean different things depending on my mood, the weather, the ambiance, things like that. While I haven't decided if Quinn's Old Fashioned is the BEST drink in Seattle, I've decided it's one of the best and regardless of my mood or the weather it always is strong and satisfying.

Their Old Fashioned can be described in two words: strong and amazing. The ridiculously heavy pour of Maker's makes the price seem reasonable and the combination of orange and bitters is flawless. I'm used to seeing those disgusting maraschino cherries in old fashioned and I'm pleased to say Quinn's does not incorporate that vile ingredient. Instead, their old fashioned is served with a twist of orange and a proper, glass stir stick. To make the experience just a little better they opt for one massive ice cube opposed to a ton of small ones that melt too quickly.

Food here is good, other drinks are good, but all you need to know is that the Quinn's Old Fashioned is life changing and might just be the only bourbon based drink you'll ever want to drink again.

Super cool place serving New American cuisine. The upstairs space is huge!

The wild boar sloppy joe was amazing. It's smaller than a regular burger but incredibly tasty and I felt satiated.

The bone marrow was delightful, large halved bones w/ tender, juicy, fatty marrow. It was topped with some fruit jelly which provided an interesting salty/sweet interplay, but I think I'll skip it next time. They provided just enough crostini for the marrow, which is great!

The beer selection was enough to keep hubby happy and he found me a couple that I actually liked (usually kind of hard). Service was divided among 2-3 different folks who kept us happy.

The way their menu is set up, you can stay at $20pp if you order one large plate and stick with water. But it's more fun to order a couple items and get a couple drinks, that'll bring up the spending to ~$50pp which is a decent date night. :)

I look forward to returning and trying their cocktails and rest of the menu! Though I've been dreaming of their marrow for a while....

$14 for a Burger and Fries?!?!

That's what I thought until I ordered mine and took a bite.  Good Lawd! that was a tasty burger.  It's kinda funny because the ingredients for the burger are Painted Hills beef, mayo, bacon, and cheddar cheese on a Brioche bun.

My theory is that there is crack mixed into the patty.  If that is the case it justifies the price and also is the reason why this will be the only food I ever order from this place.

    Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms./Dr. Quinn (Medicine Woman?):

My dear friend, Christine has one of the most refined palates that I have ever known.  She has frequented many of the best restaurants in the country.  When she told me that she had THE BEST BURGER EVER at your fair establishment, a number of emotions developed at once:

    a) shock - for her to say something was THE BEST EVER was scary

    b) excitement - exhilaration, thrill, omgomgomgomg

    c) suspicion - had Christine's incomparable palate finally failed her?

Trying to maintain composure, we sat with our friend Miche and ordered.  I had a Manhattan to calm my nerves.  Then, she quickly requested the wild boar sloppy joe, frites with fontina fonduta and demi-glace, a salad with pomegranates for good measure, and finally...

The 8oz. Painted Hills Beef Burger with Cheddar, Bacon, Mayo, and Fries.

Seems rather innocuous.  It could've been on any menu.  I was getting nervous.

Everything came our pretty quickly.  It was all great.  The sloppy joe was superb.  The salad was well-dressed, and how could you go wrong with fontina fonduta?  As for the burger, instead of going the usual route of describing the robust, juicy, delicious thing, I will recount the conversation that Miche and I had upon my first bite:

She: So, what do you think?
    Me: I... I can't talk right now.

Speechless.  This freaking burger had me speechless.

Thank you, Quinn's, for your amazing burger.  I can't think of a better one.  And, honestly, I'm kicking myself for not having another before I returned to New York.  Actually, it's probably better for my health that said burger lives across the country in Seattle.  Sigh...

Atmosphere:  Dark wooden pub feel with an unintimidating upscale feel.  Bar was relatively quiet but very full.  Upstairs seating helps avoid a crowded feel and gives a good view of the downstairs.  Background music was a pretty good mix of 70s rock/blues/indie rock.  I wanted to go back over and over after my first (and I have).

Drinks: DogfishHead Peche, Pliny the Elder.  Medium tap selection with several other high quality brews on tap.

Food: Painted Hills bacon cheeseburger was small but masterful, in my top five of all time. The half chicken was great, featuring several flavors between the liver mousse, the gravy for the chicken, the greens, and the mushrooms.  The cod fritters were unremarkable but tasty all the same.  Duck fat fries came with the burger and were super tasty.

Service: Top notch.  The waitress was friendly,

Firstly, I have to say that this place is rad for seating my friends when our whole party had not shown up, on a busy Friday night.  Allowing diners to start on drinks and bread even while waiting for another friend to arrive pretty much wins me over.  This was my first time at Quinn's, and as soon as I arrived, our waiter was right over to take a drink order.  My vodka martinis were some of the best I've had at a restaurant.  Our starters arrived quickly -- the cheese plate was fantastic, the marinated olives were a bit too greasy.  I tried the beef tartare with quail egg.  I feel I've had much better tartare, but the egg was a nice touch, and the crostini served on the side was delicious with both the tartare and the cheese.   Overall, the food was good, but not quite as memorable as I'd expected based on reviews (if I could give half-stars, I'd rate it a 3 1/2).

I was really impressed that none of the street noise carries in to the restaurant -- while we were dining, a fire truck passed by in front of the restaurant, and it could not be heard inside. Inside, the restaurant was busy and lively but not too loud to carry a conversation over dinner.  The service was good. I had been warned that service could be slow at this restaurant, but I felt it was well paced and appreciated being given time to linger over drinks.

Just as it appears from the outside, Quinn's is a nice and cozy place to be. It takes upon the vibe and ambiance that is similar to many restaurants in capitol hill. My plan was to order the ridiculous "Ultimate" burger special, an order that tops off the waygu patty with braised oxtail, seared foie-gras, and a few other ingredients. Unfortunately, this wasn't the special tonight and I had to suffice with the regular burger.

I've had a good amount of $10+ burgers, and the reviews made it appear as if this one was life-changing. When it arrived I tried a fry which was slightly soggy and not very crisp - a bad sign. I bit into the burger and it was obvious that very high quality ingredients were used. The bun was soft yet held the burger in place and the waygu beef they used was really good. Despite this, it was overly salty (something I never complain about) and the bacon and cheese were too understated. Considering this was the entirety of the burger itself, it was a little underwhelming compared to many burgers I've had in the price segment. I don't think burgers in Seattle are held to the same standard that they are in San Francisco. I've tried Quinn's, Skillet's burger with bacon jam, and many others that pale in comparison to what I've experienced elsewhere. The only other dish on the table was the bacon popcorn which was decent, but not great.

Quinn's deserves 4 stars because of the freshness/quality of the ingredients and its inviting atmosphere. I wouldn't be opposed to coming back and trying something less safe, but I'm not going to call this a 5 star burger.

Quinns was surprisingly good. I only say "surprisingly" because I have had my fair share of Capital Hill dissapointments. Their menu is varied and has a lot of interesting things on it, but really the only thing you need to order is the hamburger. Unlike most hamburgers recommended by Seattleites this one is actually authentically good. They cook it to order so you can get a rare burger (which surprisingly few restaurants in Seattle do) and it pares with a soft bun that is easy to bite through and delicious (again seems like common sense, but many places get it wrong). Their poutine (they call it fontina fonduta, but its poutine) makes a good appetizer, but they don't give you very much of it.

My only complaint with Quinns is that it is a little pricey for what you get and it does attract that Capital Hill crowd that can be a little pretenentious and obnoxious.

WHY CANT THEY HAVE ONE OF THESE IN THE BAY AREA?!?!

First impression: a dimly lit, laid back, clean pub with rock music.. definitely not what I expected to see knowing that foie is the most popular item from their menu.

We were seated on the second level balcony, awesome atmosphere, really casual but still classy.  After looking at the menu, I wanted every single item on the menu, so it took me forever to order for the 2 of us (since the bf has no opinion when it comes to food like this!)

    What we got:
Foie Gras Frites - Fries with foie gras sauce and extra peice of foie gras on top (+$16), sooo worth it, DO NOT get the fries without this addition.

Bone Marrow - Yummy but very oily, comes with crostini and a kalamata olive/basalmic topping and arugula

Beef Tartar - Delish! Loved the capers and the raw quail egg, makes it super creamy

Wild Boar Sloppy Joe's - Unexpectedly delicious, very tender, meaty and the roasted chili on the side was a superb addition

Hazelnut cream puffs and coffee ice cream w/ tiny cake - cream puffs were o-k, one of them was missing cream, but the cake and ice cream were TO DIE FOR, one of the best bites of cake i've ever had!  It was moist on top with a gooey crumb base.

Drinks: Pear cider, organic cider, both great.

Service was superb, I'd love to come back here next time I'm in Seattle.

I was pleasantly surprised by how yummy my food was.  The biggest challenge was finding something on the menu I would like because it is definitely all about the meat, and sometimes some really odd meat.  I got squeamish when they were describing in full detail where the meat comes from and how it is prepared for such things as trotter.  The poor vegetarian who dined with us was stuck with soup and fries because even though their online menu had a vegetarian meal, they didn't actually have one.  Boo.

I got a roasted chicken dish which was not fried like it sounded in the online menu description.  The wine sauce was so delicious and full of flavor.  The bits of bread just soaked it up in the best way possible.

This isn't the kind of place I would return to because it had kind of a snooty vibe and the menu didn't have anything else I would have wanted to try.  But, the dish I ordered was good.

Was finally able to get back to Quinn's!  I was slightly disappointed at first that the menu they had online was not the same as that in the restaurant... but my disappointment didn't last long, as everything on the current menu was just as amazing!

We ordered a ton of food... as we had starved ourselves in preparation.  Bone marrow, scotch egg, half chicken, hanger steak and beef tartare!  Everything was delightful... complimented with a few glasses of wine and we were in a blissful food trance when we left.  Our favorite was definitely the tartare...

The atmosphere is great... though I wish we could have been seated at a table upstairs instead of right next to the door where everyone was walking past constantly.  The service was excellent this time... no rude maitre'd to be found.  And though there was a crowd and a 30 minute wait for two (that we fully expected beforehand)... it was completely worth it.

I cannot wait until Zoe opens in Cap Hill!  I'm already fabricating special occasions to call for a monthly visit.

My visits to Quinn's have made me rethink my last meal scenario.

Yes, I am quite certain that I would now include Quinn's wild boar sloppy joe in my last (hypothetical) hurrah. I didn't know something sloppy could taste so divine! I am just sad that I waited this long to experience this meaty goodness. And for $11? An amazing deal.

The pork tenderloin plate is also very tasty with juicy, succulent pork and a creamy sauce. Servers and bartenders are very nice and genuine. The cocktails are mixed just right.

I think I have a new favorite place on Capitol Hill! I plan on returning again and again. If only I can tear myself away from that sloppy joe...
