I took my old desktop into Quick Fix after calling and talking to them. I needed to get the files off my hard drive so I could give away the unit. They said to just bring it in. Once I pulled up to the shop, an employee saw me about to lift the large desktop unit out of my trunk and rushed out to carry it for me - so nice! He brought it in and immediately plugged it in to see if it would start. Sure enough, it started and he quickly navigated to the drive so I could see what files / photos I had on the computer.
Turns out, I had already cleared the HDD of my personal files years ago before I stopped using it, which I had forgotten I had done. So, there was nothing for them to take off the HDD. I then asked them to clear the drive so I could donate the desktop unit to charity. They said that it was too slow as-is, but offered to put in additional memory for FREE so it could be donated and useful! How nice is that!?
I tried to pay them for their time spent checking into my inquiriry, but they wouldn't let me pay. I was very impressed with the service and the kindness! Definately a reputable place! -

So my wife bricked her laptop yesterday. I think she tried to plug the power cord into the DVD tray or something like that. (Of course, this country started going to hell when we started letting girls operate laptops in the first place, but that's a rant for another forum.)
So anyway, it went dark & didn't respond to anything -- unplugging, removing & replacing the battery, the 5-second hard reset on the power button -- nothing. I even gave it the secret "I'm a guy" hand signal when she wasn't looking, but *still*, no response!
I was going to try another "laptop fix" shop on El Camino up in Palo Alto, but saw this place on Yelp and it looked promising. I stopped in with it and was greeted immediately. I told the dude what was up, and he took the laptop, removed the battery, grabbed a voltage meter & started touching leads on the power cord & in the battery compartment. Within about two minutes he had it booted, and explained that some capacitors on the motherboard probably just needed to be drained. Oh, and he wouldn't take any money from me.
When something more serious or expensive looking happens, Quick Fix will be my first stop. Easy, fast, competent and honest! -

One of my laptops overheated and, once in a while, shut down on its own, I'm guessing from the excessive heat. So I thought a fan is broken. I took it to Quick Fix, willing from the start to pay for the fan replacement. But they actually did not want to take my money :) They said it's not the fan but rather the fact its outtake was covered in dust so it couldn't function properly. They cleaned it for free and, in the process, cleaned everything else (keyboard, screen). And did not charge me anything. How many places actually do this? This is what I call great service. I will definitely take my computers there for repair in the future.

I called them before coming by. They provided great customer service on the phone and in person. The man who helped me was very knowledgeable. I was experiencing intermittent problems with a custom built desktop and of course it was running fine when I brought it in so he didn't charge me. He gave me advice that fixed the problem when I got home. I'll definitely return for future computer repair needs. Highly recommended.

I spilled some blueberry juice on the keyboard of my laptop. It was an accident and I needed to get my computer opened and cleaned. I drove to the shop and I walked into the door and greeted the guy who was hiding behind a divisor or something like that. He barely noticed me and didn't even make an effort to greet me or act helpful. I asked him how much he wanted for cleaning my computer and he shot $65 for the job. I got there in the early afternoon and he said he'd have my computer ready in the morning. I needed my computer at night so I told him I'd drop my machine the next day. I drove away unsatisfied with the attitude of the guy in the shop. Technical skills are good but with a shop, knowing how to treat customers is fundamental. I give Quick Fix Computer Services 2 stars ... for the service (I guess I'd call it customer satisfaction).

So, I had stepped on my 29 days old HP notebook accidentally. I am not very careful with tech gadgets, so I specifically mentioned to the Best Buy idiot that I need insurance for the computer that would protect such damages as I had previously damaged my 2 other Dell laptops accidentally. The guy sold me the basic/standard insurance, but forgot to include the accidental insurance. (At that time, I had no idea about the insurance difference.) So, when I broke the screen, I thought it'd be covered. Apparently, it wasn't.
HP wanted me to pay for one way shipping which is $34.95 (not to mention Dell offers shipping at no cost to the customer) and they would send my computer back after fixing the screen at a cost of $249.99... For fuck's sake, the computer itself cost me $229.00. So, I ask the idiot sitting somewhere in Hyderabad why is it costing more to replace the screen than to buy a brand new computer. He had no answer for it and hung up on me. So, I call again to speak to a supervisor. Again, the supervisor had no answer like the employee. They couldn't even tell the difference between Canada and US. I told the guy my location is US twice and he keeps saying NORTH AMERICA... YOU IDIOT.. I am saying US out of North America. But whatever...Outsourcing isn't the best option.
Came across these guys yesterday on 6/13 and dropped my computer off. I believe it was Rami who helped me. Today he called me saying the screen that matches my computer is already at their shop and they put it together. My laptop was ready within 24 hours. I picked up my computer today 6/14 in the evening and I paid a LOT less than $250.00
Lesson learned: I will never buy an HP ever again in my life. and these quick fix guys rock! Thanks for saving my computer.
A little note on the side. As of 8/28/11.. my 4 month old HP computer froze on its own and locked me into the guest account. Now I can't access any of my files. Great. HP SUCKS..no wonder they're going out of business -

I would highly recommend Quick Fix Computer Services!
Before going to Quick Fix, I went to a place in Sunnyvale (main cross street: lakeside and oakmead) to fix my laptop and he said it was an easy fix because its just a virus problem. He took 3 whole days to fix that and then I had to go back two weeks later to fix that laptop again, he then took two whole days to fix a virus problem. Then after 2 weeks again my laptop crashes!!! I would never come here again!!!
I should have brought my laptop to Quick Fix the first time because they were able to detect other problems other than just a virus. They were able to fix 87 problems in a day and I picked it up the following morning!!!!! I had my computer repaired for two months now and I had no problem at all. The price was reasonable and the workers were professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. I would definitely come here again in the future. -

It is true that you write a review when you have either an excellent or an awful experience. Fortunately for me, I am writing this review from my newly fixed PC and it was an awesome experience getting my laptops fixed.
First things first, I found this place on Yelp so yay for Yelp!Rami at QuickFix seemed knowledgeable and to know what he was saying. They provided an estimate within a few hours of dropping off my laptops. When we finally agreed on the items I wanted to get done, he gave the price for the items I wanted to get fixed along with the estimated date of delivery. He called me in 2 days to tell me my computer was ready. So hassles in the entire transaction whatsoever.
Here comes the best part, I went back after a week to tell them that despite fixing the powerjack, the battery wouldn't charge. They found that the problem was with my after market charger and replaced it with an original power adapter for free although they could have charged me a good 30 bucks for it!!! So there! -

My Dell desktop wouldn't power up; based on positive reviews on Yelp, I took it to Quick Fix in the morning. They diagnosed and fixed it (dead PSU) and I had my computer back that same evening -- they live up to their name :) After bringing it home, I noticed that the new PSU had a noisier fan than the old one -- slightly bothersome as I keep it in my bedroom. I called them back, and they agreed to let me order a Dell OEM PSU and bring it to them to swap in. They did so at no charge, refunding me the money for the first PSU. And they did it in about 10 mins :) I'm one very satisfied customer.

I've always fixed my own computers, and owned a computer store a long time ago. This time, my "old but not too old" Dell desktop decided to not start, which is the hardest thing to diagnose yourself without a "lab" to experiment with.
This is usually one of three things: a dead switch (cheap, but tricky to replace), a dead power supply (a bit more expensive but very standardized), or a dead motherboard (really expensive - probably buy a new PC). The computer was scaring me as the internal lights were on, but no bootup, which is often the sign of a dead mobo.
Quick Fix quickly diagnosed the problem as a "nearly dead" power supply, that worked well enough to run the lights but not well enough to actually boot up the mobo. They replaced the PS for a very fair price within a couple of hours, and showed me the working PC before I took it home. My desktop is happily running again. -

My computer started failing with the recent hot spell, seemed to improve with the weather (and a driver update), and then died completely yesterday. After going to one place (we'll send it out for diagnostics and you'll see your computer in 5 days) and a bit of calling around, I choose to bring it to these folks. Their theory as to what was broken sounded reasonable, their English is fluent, when I asked for timing and price estimates, they were clear, and they told me they'd at least be likely to diagnose the issue that day (they have hardware and software diagnostics in-house).
When I brought in the computer they did a few simple tests and it turned out to be a battery problem. They showed me what was wrong, how I can tell next time, and both ran some hardware diagnostics and cleaned out the external part of the fan area for good measure. Then they recommended a source for the battery (with mapquest directions to get there) and charged me nothing. Absolutely zero.
What a pleasure.
Other items, when I walked in the tiny shop (it's hardly bigger than a bedroom) the front person was busy and another person immediately came over to see if he could help. They can accurately describe where they are (very important when there isn't a computer to provide directions) and have a parking lot in back (not visible from El Camino).
While I'm not a hardware person, I do have a significant software background. The staff got this quickly and did not treat me as some one with no knowledge.
In all this place was a pleasure to use. I hope my computer never breaks again but if it does I'll come here. -

I brought in my dad's computer (bought around 2005, Windows XP) to Quick Fix on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't booting and my dad said it stopped working when he was trying to clean up his computer because it was running so slow, so we figured he must have deleted some system files. I had already taken out the hard drive and hooked it up to a working computer to verify that I could read the file system, and it looked intact.
Quick Fix said they would run their diagnostics to make sure there weren't any hardware issues and would give me a call. They called me on Saturday and told me that the boot problems were because the drive was failing and there were bad sectors, so they could clone the drive and make the repairs to make it boot. They also said they could add memory from 512MB to 1GB since it was running so slow.
When they called, they had actually already cloned the drive and were almost done, so they just needed me to approve the work (otherwise they could just put the old drive back in). They called back again in about an hour and the computer was ready to pick up.
Great service, quick turnaround, knowledgeable, and very reasonable prices. With the new hard drive, new memory, and fixing up Windows so it could boot, it came to just over $200. Very reasonable!
It's getting harder and harder to find computer repair places, let alone good ones, so I'm very glad Quick Fix is there!
Update: While I would still rate them five stars for PC service, my rating for Mac service is only about 3 stars. I think they don't have as much Mac expertise, so their ability to diagnose problems and fix them isn't nearly where their PC service is. After initially fixing a video chip problem and a broken fan, which seemed to go well, my laptop worked great for a day and a half, before it started shutting down on me while it was starting up. It took a week for them to figure out what to do (replace the hard drive) and when they finally replaced it and reinstalled the OS, they didn't replace my data or settings. They just copied my home directory to a directory on the new drive. Luckily, I had a backup, or else I would have been completely hosed. They did give me a discount on the labor since I had to blow away everything on the new drive anyway, but if it were a PC, they would have restored everything to its original working order. They confirmed that with Macs, they just do a fresh install of the OS. When they replaced the drive on my dad's PC, everything was working exactly the same as when I brought it in, but better. -

dropped off my laptop to get fixed on a friday afternoon. The guy there told me he would call me back later that day or on Saturday morning with a diagnosis and cost to fix it. Never got a call back. Finally I called back on Thursday, almost a week later, to be told that the computer was not worth fixing. I came by that day and picked it up. A day later I realized the USB bluetooth that was on the computer was no longer there. They must have taken it off during diagnosis and forgotten to put it back on. I called them back to have them inform me that they didnt have it. Computer's still broken (which realistically isnt their fault, but i would have appreciated it if they actually followed thru with what they said they would do) and out Im $15 for my bluetooth adapter. All in all, terrible experience.

Know what they're doing, responsive and reasonable prices.
I was so happy that these guys, especially Rami, made the process of getting my PC back to life pretty painless. The evaluated my PC, agreed that the motherboard failed, proactively checked HP's website and found it was still under warranty and then suggested they swap out the HDD in case the repair process went awry. Obviously they could have just sold me an expensive new motherboard and installed it themselves, but suggesting I use the warranty repair was the 5 star effort. They backed up all my info too. And, when I told them I'd be out of town, they offered to receive the warranty repair box and ship the PC back to HP and then receive the PC from HP. Yesterday I picked the computer back up and it's all back to normal...YAY!
A very small shop that offers you good service and very fair prices, plus you deal with the owner or one of a few employees. I'll definitely be supporting this local business again! -

This place rocks! The nicest guy took great care of us and did not overcharge. We took my cracked laptop screen to 3 different best buys and they were going to charge $199 to install (I already had a new screen) my laptop screen! Quick fix took care of it in a matter of minutes and only cost us $50 :) definitely going to recommend to my friends with any computer problems, and I will be back :) thanks guys!

Quick and within the estimate! He got it done when he said he would at the price he said he would, imagine that...on time and for the same amount I was quoted when I dropped it off!. Very knowledgeable. I drove from Redwood City to use him after finding his reviews on Yelp...worth the drive.

Truly THE best computer repair shop I've ever been to. Two years ago I got a virus and took my laptop in for repair. Was charged $125 to fix it - I had to reload the Windows system and my programs myself. This month the hard drive blew out. My husband took it to a different repair shop that received good reviews on Yelp. The food smacking know nothing person who looked at the laptop told my husband it would be $300-$500 to fix the harddrive and if I wanted my data recovered it would be more. It made more sense to buy a new laptop at that price. I decided I would get a second opinion and called Quick Fix. I spoke to Josh and he immediately set my mind at ease. After he heard what was happening, he told me the price it would cost to replace the hard drive. I couldn't believe it could possibly be so reasonable. After one day in the shop, I receievd my laptop back and it is running better than ever. I feel like I received a brand new laptop!! AND it didn't cost me the price of a new laptop to have it fixed! I've talked to Josh twice and each time he was calm, knowledgable and no nonsense. If you have a PC issue, bring your computer here. You will be so happy you did!!

My cousin's HP laptop screen went "dead" few weeks ago. It was so dark that you can hardly see the icons on the screen. Read several reviews on Yelp then called few places around East Bay. One of them was very nice & helpful over phone but advise that most of the time, LCD might need to be replaced which could cost $200 to $300. Other places either charge quite hefty diagnosis fee or doesn't sound like they have experienced on similar issues. Given this laptop only cost us around $700, we originally were not going to fix it. Then we came across this place, QuickFix, that not only offers "Free diagnosis" but the person who answered the phone was able to immediately tell me the three possible causes and the associated cost for each one of them. He was very patient and courteous while trying to explain all these to a not very computer literary person. Since one of the possible solution will only cost a fraction of LCD replacement and the diagnosis is free, we decided to give it a try.
Dropped off the laptop at their shop around 1:00 pm on Sat. Got a call back in 45 min, they confirmed the problem was due to a faulty "inverter" which cost the least amount to fix. We picked up the laptop one hour later. It's fixed! Cannot be happier for both their quick service and honesty. -

Great service, great place. Professional, courteous, quick turnaround. Brought my computer in one morning, got a phone call within a few hours with the problem, and it was fixed later that afternoon. Reasonable rates, too. Hopefully I won't need to use them again, but wouldn't hesitate to return if I had to.

I once took my laptop there for a screen replacement and I asked them if it was going to be replaced with the same exact screen, and they yes. Well, after paying and taking my laptop home, I realized the screen they replaced was a much lower resolution and quality screen, and the screen lighting was messed up. I came back and the manager said he will refund me and that my original screen would cost much more to replace. I cannot figure out why they do not know that Dell Insipirons come with multiple types of screens?
After all of that, I had them put back on my old broken screen and I went home and read the Dell service manual online and just did it myself easily after purchasing my original screen from ebay. Oh ya, when I removed the screen from the laptop, it clearly states which type of screen it is exactly on the back. -

When my Toshiba laptop crashed after a couple of weeks of slow-downs, stalls and freezes, I thought I'd lost all my files. My husband found Quick Fix Computer Services on Yelp and I'm glad he did! They rescued all my files, installed a new HD, all within a couple of days and for a reasonable price. At my request, they removed some deeply imbedded security hardware with their special software (my husband couldn't get rid of it and he's a techie). I'm now happily typing this on my rescued computer. In addition, they were helpful over the phone and very courteous to me in person. A few years ago I had a very bad experience with another computer repair service in Mountain View that has since gone out of business so I was very wary about taking my computer in. These guys are the best and have restored my faith in computer repair services.

They rescued my Dell laptop from certain death, after I spilled a full mug of tea into it. Anthony took the time to explain what was going to be done (testing each chip, ordering new ones needed, and replacing chips). After leaving it with them for just over 2 weeks, I have it back and it's perfect. Better yet: if they can't fix it, you don't pay anything.

This business has all the good qualities I want in a service shop: they are reliable, honest, respectful and know their stuff. I brought my computer here after spilling a ful cup of coffee on it, which treatment made it switch off on its own, when I was in the middle of working on something. The QuickFix guys opened it, cleaned from the spill, checked other issues I complained about and returned within a day a completely functional computer, all at a price they quoted and very reasonable. I know they are not there to make more money on you, and are reliable and trustworthy when they work. will come here again when need help or repairs.

Anthony went out of his way to explain and demonstrate what was wrong with my laptop when it wouldn't close anymore. I only had to leave my computer with him for a couple of hours while he replaced the whole backplate. I really appreciated how quickly he turned everything around, and he even cleaned the screen for me. He clearly takes pride in his work in addition to being very efficient and helpful in explaining the repairs and what to do to minimize future wear and tear on my laptop.

These guys seem pretty honest to me. They didn't try to charge me for the free estimate they gave me, and the final total was their estimate. They are polite too, they seem to appreciate the business. They know what they are talking about and did a great job of identifying the problem in my laptop (shot video card) and getting it fixed (they said it's a common procedure). Only thing was they estimated it would take a week and a half and the job ended up taking 2 weeks.

I love these guys! I brought in an older XP machine in September that I had tried and failed to fix myself on several occasions. They quickly diagnosed a bad video card and replaced it for a reasonable price. That computer then sat in the corner for two months before I plugged it in to use it. It worked for 2 days and then suddenly died. I took it back and they found that one of the memory DIMMs was not properly seated. They didn't plan to charge me but I gave them $20 for their time and trouble. They are so good and inexpensive that I plan to never again waste my time trying to fix one of my PCs (and I have lots of them)--I'm just going to take it to QuickFix!
