I was wandering along Sparks Street one very chilly afternoon and saw all the warm-looking sweaters and hats in the window of a shop. I went in to check it out and discovered the wonder that is Quichua International. The store sells only products manufactured by native peoples who live in the Andes area of South America. There are all sorts of colourful ponchos, sweaters, hats (with handy ear muffs), gloves. They also have a GREAT collection of very colourful children's sweaters. The store also sells musical instruments, toys, jewelry, and art. They even sell those cool wrestling masks you saw in the movie Nacho Libre! I have seen some of the same goods at markets around town and I wonder if there is a connection. Anyhow, the prices are moderately high (wool hats for $20). But, the goods are authentic and have traveled all the way here and not all the way from China!! The store is located on a cobblestoned street free of road traffic. So, you will have to walk to it - no parking, senor!
