Love their banana bread.  I could live off it and get fat.  But I won't.
Their muffins are also tasty!  I've only tried the items that are gluten
free and dairy free.  It's a reasonable price too.

Haven't tried the savory stuff yet since I'm a sucker for sweets- but sometime when I'm on that part of town I'll give it a go.

Happen to be aimlessly exploring Main St. and happen to walk by Quejo. Of course, I was intrigued and had to check it out.

Glutten-free Quejo.... Whaaaaaaa??? It took me a second to process the concept, and then decided to go for it and try it out. I went with the Sao Paolo with Jalapeño Pao de Queijo, that comes with chicken. It was a very tasty sandwich and all the ingredients were very fresh.

While it definitely didn't compare to your typical pao de queijo you get at the Brazilian hotspots in LA, it was surprisingly tasty for gluten-free Canadian pao de queijo. I hope to get the chance to try some of their other gluten-free baked goods which looked delicious.

    Love this place!
The buns have a crispy outside and a soft, cheesy, chewy inside. They are good on their own, especially when they are warm. I also love the veg sandwich. This place is also real easy on the wallet.
Every time I come back to Vancouver I go to this place because these buns are so unique and delicious.
Other than the buns the store carries lots of good stuff like hemp hearts, tasty juices, GF cookies, all at reasonable prices.

I loooove this place, and I don't even need to eat a GF or DF diet anymore!  I still pop in to grab some buns and treats for my cousin, and when I do I get a little snack for myself.

The buns are flavourful, chewy, and delightful.  I don't know why I am so obsessed with them, but I really love them.  My favourite is the spinach and onion.  The muffins and cookies (which you can find samples of on the counter) are great, too.  Even to a wheat-eater.

The lady who runs the place is always nice, so bonus.

What makes this a 5-star is that it's a place that caters to a growing need for GF and DF products, and they actually make their stuff with care and FLAVOUR.  For a while I was cutting out a lot of foods and this little place brought so much joy to my heart and bread-deprived tummy.  My cousin feels the same, and I will be bestowing her with a pile of treats from Quejos when I see her today.  But their buns are so good that anyone can enjoy them.  Try that with some rice bread from Choices.  You will not get the same reaction from wheat-eaters.  Trust.

I devoured two buns in my car on my way back to the office yesterday.  Yum.

Tip: a lot of products are not dairy-free, but some are, and are made with soy.  Everything is labeled, so no need to worry.

Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, these gluten-free sandwiches are the perfect small, inexpensive meal.

The ladies who work here are friendly and helpful, often pulling buns right out of the oven so that they are extra-fresh and warm. There are even diary-free options for those of us who avoid both gluten and dairy.

There are also dozens of gluten-free grocery options.

Once there was a girl, and she love loved her carbs. Carbs were, in fact, a beautiful and sought after thing in all her kingdom.  It was a sweet and gratifying relationship for both parties.  Then she came across the horrible queen CLEANSE, and could no longer indulge in this satisfying relationship.  Which is kinda like having a wicked stepmother, but without all the sweetness.

Luckily, a magical carriage came along one day at Granville Island and saved her.  And the name written on the side of the magical carriage said 'Quejos'.  The End.

Thank you Quejos, for providing wheat-free, gluten-free, yeast-free (even dairy-free if you want) yummy buns. Chewy...to be sure.  But a perfect thing to fill me up...and make me 'fill' good about it.

I was just minding my own business, weaving my way through the slow-moving Saturday crowds at the Granville Island Public Market. I stumbled across a cart offering gluten-free products. Curious little... how you say... cheesebun?

Newspaper clippings are hung proudly on the cart. They boast of the cheesebuns stacked before me. A picture in the clipping tells me that the proprietor is standing right there, cutting up samples for the masses. I take sweet one. Delicious! I take a savory one. Divine!

I have had enough free samples. I wish to purchase a cheesebun. I reach into my pocket and fumble for the correct amount of that funny-looking Canadian currency. A toonie buys me one, you say? Please, hook a Yank up!

You deliver to the US? Rightous!

You require a $75 minimum order to deliver to the US? Oh dear. I may have to call my dad to go in on an order with me. He can't have the gluten either.

    Thanks cheesebun lady!

I was driving down Main street when I had a sudden craving for bread or some baked good when I remembered hearing about Quejo's from friends who were on a gluten free diet/ sugar free cleanse. I pulled over - on a mission to try my first gluten free, yeast free bun.

I bought a few to try (they were all fresh and warm still!!) spinach and onion, sun dried tomato and basil, flax and almond....i really liked the slightly sweet taste of the flax and almond. What makes this bun different is that its incredibly chewy texture. Its kind of like a work out eating it but not in a bad way. This small rectangular bun is very satisfying.

I don't need to eat wheat free, yeast free, gluten free, sugar free? but I do feel healthier eating these...or maybe its my way of justifying my love bread products?

Hmm..I sure hope I'm in the area soon so I can go for another drive-by Quejo's run.

    Quejos on Main Street.

I love carbs!!!  This is an interesting bread that is wheat, gluten and yeast free.

Brazilian style cheese buns come in these flavours: extra cheese; sun-dried tomato and basil; flax seed and almond; spinach and onion; fresh garlic; jalapeno; and black olive.

In addition to the pastries and buns  you can buy, you can order  sandwiches to go. My favourite is the Sao Paulo.  Choose the flavour of bun you would like then it is topped with chicken, tomatoes, mayo and mustard.  Totally hits the spot!!

Since moving to Toronto, I have missed this bread! Nothing competes with as of yet.  For those of you that live in Van or are making a trip this really is a gem.

    Yay! Yay! Yay!

Bunwich after a stroll in the shoppes on Main + stocking up on gluten free buns * a gluten free pecan square = Heaven on Main!

I cannot stress this enough - go to Quejos!

It was love at first bite.  I tried Quejos at the Granville Island market a little while ago.  I was standing in front of the stand shamelessly trying all the samples... however I didn't buy anything since I was in a hurry.  The next day, I found the store and needless to say, I bought enough buns for a week.

I would recommending only buying what you can eat.  The buns itself can become quite hard if you leave it for more than 2 days or so.  My favorite include the extra cheese and the spinach.  I haven't yet tried the sandwiches, but am looking forward to it very soon.

All the taste with none of the guilt.  What is not to love?

There a-ok with me. Not super yummy, but for gluten and yeast free bread, their the way to go. They also have this one item that I used to eat every day in Cuba, it was called Romeo y Julieta or Guava con queso, and even though it's not as good, it will do for a North American subsitute. It's cheese with a guava paste put on a piece of bread.
Buy a bunch for cheap and store them in the freezer for later. The different flavors vary in taste but that also depends on preference.

I first came across Quejos products during a morning outing to Granville Island. My parents, knowing I like quirky foods, noticed the Brazilian Bun stand and encouraged me to try the product.

The buns are made from manioc powder. The result is a yeast, wheat, and gluten free cheesebun that has the same consistency as a hardy bread.

Honestly I just think they're tasty and kind of fun for a change. Varieties include Extra Cheese, Sun-dried Tomato and Basil, Flaxseed and Almond, Fresh Spinach and Onion, Fresh Jalapeno, Fresh Garlic, and Black Olive.- they also come in Soy and Dairy -Free varieties in case you have any health issues.

The buns are sold at Choices and G.I but if you actually make it to the shop on Main you'll find other fun items from South America like Goji berries and Yerba Mate.

Quejos serves tasty, chewy, gluten-free sourdough-esque cheesebuns made from manioc powder of all things. Nice strong cheese flavour is a bonus. A bit tough though, so not good for people with delicate dental work! Soy and dairy-free versions also available, as well as other nut and other savoury flavours.

Love the product but the service today was terrible.  Cashier, I have never dealt with before, was rude and abrupt. Sure hope she isn't around next time..not very nice!  "Sorry for spending my money there and paying your wage!  And disrupting your day!"

I love this place because it doesn't try to rape my wallet, and the little brazillian buns are tasty and guilt-free. The atmosphere is a little shoddy, but the food is definately worth it! I've tried everything they offer and my favourites are the banana bread, the quejos, and the veggie quejo sandwich. Initially your jaw may complain of over exertion, but the more you exercise it with tasty quejos, the happier you'll both be!

These guys are great. Gluten-free and all that other good stuff, these delectable little buns are a great alternative for those celiacs and wheat intolerant amongst us.
You can buy them either pre made or frozen (you bake). Unless you know they will be eaten quickly I recommend the frozen packages. After a few days on the counter or in the fridge these little buns turn into bricks. A quick solution is a zap in the microwave but too long in there makes them very tough. So best eaten fresh...but you know this is the case with a lot of gluten free food.
I was hugely into these things a ways back (2001). I think I ate way too many because I found that after a while the smell of them (which is not bad in any way) made me loose my appetite for them . One of those cases of too much of a good thing. Consume in moderation and once again enjoy the glorious world of carbs. Hmmmm...maybe its time to go back and try them again.

I don't care that it's wheat/gluten free.  I don't care that they don't add sugar.  I don't care that it's "lower in carbs", whatever that's supposed to do.  Those are all just bonuses, or so I hear.

These buns are TASTY.  They are dense, chewy and delicious!  The sandwiches are pricey for the size but they are filling and taste great!

The atmosphere is grungy leaving you with the feeling that you want to wash your hands, that's not so great.

The wheat free brownies are THE BEST BROWNIES I HAVE EVER HAD!!!  Again, dense and chewy with a rich chocolate taste and sweet without being TOO sweet.  Perfection!

This place is one of the reasons that I love Main street living!!!
