Review from Trude H.

This has been a favorite stop for a few years now.
The meat section in the back has fresh buffalo, both ground and steak, and a good variety of lamb, beef and pork. Lots of home style chorizo, hot Italian and other sausages.
Today I picked up black chia seeds for cat grass, a yummy loaf of Terra Pecan Fruit bread and sunflower seed bread from Germany, which is becoming more rare in larger stores.
But the big surprise of the day, for me as a carnivore, was the barbequed ribs from the deli. I was hungry, as I had just finished a shift, and these ribs were looking mighty fine. Thick, glistening sauce. Chunks of meat hanging off the bones. Alrighty, two of you must come home with me.
The drive home - tantalizing rib odours wafted in from the trunk. I almost stopped on the Mountain Highway to chomp these beauties. Once at home, I devoured the most delicious ribs I have ever eaten! I just stood at the kitchen counter, savouring the thick sauce and licking my fingers.
After mopping the sauce off my face and hands, I called Queensdale to thank them for the delectable ribs, and found to my delight that the ribs are made on site.
Also in stock is African Fair Trade Shea Butter, which we have discussed on the "girlie thread." The bulk bins feature kamut, spelt, and other variety flours. Lots of organic nuts and unsulphured organic dried apricots for those Moroccan recipes!
This is a small store, stocked with many hard to find items, and really worth the trip up Lonsdale. The staff are always cheerful, and there is adequate parking in the lot. -

This is one of my preferred destinations for organic shopping. A good but limited selection of fruits and vegetables, with organic deli and medication free chickens. Has a mix of regular and organic foods so shop accordingly. Not a member of a chain for those, like me, who value that.
I would go more frequently, but it closes at 7:00 PM and I'm usually only organized enough to start my shopping by then.
