Been here a few times. Great place to go for a long walk (when the weather permits) with your significant other.

Lots of trees. Not bad for a city park. Not bad all all.

I'm writing a review for the Queens Park Arenex, the building doesn't seem to be on the database but its still considered as part of the Queens Park grounds.

The gym is Old with poor ventilation, but for some reason they have some of the more popular drop-ins for a variety of sports. I come for the drop-in Volleyball on Thursday nights. The conditions in the gym is ideal for volleyball, but its good enough. The ceiling has a beam right across, basketball hoops don't fold up all the way, and a big piece of Duct work sticks out on the other end. These conditions make for a frustrating game, but an interesting one at that. The floors are well maintained, so that's an up side. More than anything, the drop-ins here are CHEAP! $3.75 for 2 hours of volleyball is a pretty sweet deal!

A huge water fountain play area, a petting farm, lots of picnic tables, and a large wooded area.  I remember telling my Dad when I was young, I like Queen's Park more than Disneyland.  Queen's Park is New Wesminster's version of Vancouver's Stanley Park (remember the zoo at Stanley Park?) or Burnaby's version of Central Park.  The petting farm is what made this park unique and famous Canada wide.  Currently, there are chickens, goats, sheeps, rabbits and peacocks. You might see that occassional horse, llama, and donkey. It's quite different from the old days when they had bears, wolves, cougars, coyotes and bisons at this petting zoo. Back in the old days, they actually let you pet and feed the bears!  Queen's Park is free but the petting farm is admission by donation.

If Queen's Park were a muffin, it would the kind that has everything in it but still tastes pretty darned good. It's got recreational facilities: paved and gravel trails for walking and biking, a fitness loop, two arenas, a baseball stadium, and a soccer field. It has cultural amenities: a theatre, an outdoor ampitheatre, and an art gallery. It's got family stuff: a petting zoo (in summer), a water park, a playground, picnic shelters, and for your furry family, an off-leash dog run. Not to mention a rose garden with gazebo - very popular with wedding parties.
All of this is packed into a pretty, compact park occupying about 12 square blocks in New Westminster. The park also borders some of the oldest and most well-kept heritage homes in Metro Vancouver. These old houses have a whole lot less hedge than their cousins in Shaughnessy and Kerrisdale, so even the less well-heeled (i.e., me) can enjoy the view.
On spring and summer evenings, I love to take bike rides through the park, then out along the neighbourhood streets. It's definitely the nicest part of New Westminster.
