This is a serious butcher. I would be very sad if he ever closed up shop - you just don't get service like this anymore. For example, today I went in for some ground beef and pork. I got to select how fatty a cut, the coarseness of the grind, and then he butchered and ground the meat right in front of me. This means that you could do rarer hamburgers than usual as you could be using meat that was ground 20 minutes before you get it on the BBQ.
He's a nice guy and obviously cares about what he does. Definitely worth the slight detour out of town to go to. -

A gem to go to in New Westminster.
Excellent quality and all things considered, pretty good prices.
The free reange chicken is no more expensive than the IGA's and the service is way better.
The butcher will gladly cut and trim your meat how you want it.
For great quality meat, chicken and cheese head over here and support a wonderful small business! -

This unassuming little butcher shop has been in business in the same location, and I think the same family, since about 1918. It's a tiny shop built into half of a small house at the corner of 4th Avenue and 2nd Street in New West, the last vestige of what was once a thriving shopping area.
I go there for the lovely organic, free range chicken at reasonable prices. Peter the butcher also makes sausages on site, and will get you just about any kind of meat in any cut, as long as you ask nicely. Which of course, is the way to ask anyone for anything when their profession involves cleavers and meat hooks.
High quality meat at reasonable prices - but make sure to bring cash, as they accept no plastic. Although I recall the first time I patronized the shop, I was short, and Peter graciously prepared my order while I scurried off to the nearest ATM. I thought it was mighty trusting of him.
