I quite like this little shop in Kensington. Although you're apt to see a lot of their clothing at other independent stores in the area and around town, they do have a few cute things that you'd be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. I bought a fantastic pair of earrings there that get compliments every time I wear them, and around the holidays I picked up an adorable pink leather passport holder... only to find that the people behind me in line were from Avenue Magazine, wanting to feature the passport holders in an upcoming issue! I'm such a trendsetter! ;)
(Oh... one thing I discovered when I got home was that the ink they used to write on the price tags leaked through the paper and dyed the leather of the passport holder. I phoned and left a message to let them know what was going on... hopefully they've changed their pens and price stickers since then! Check before you buy!) -

I want to like Queen Boutique, I go in and visit it all the time to try to convince myself to do so. The problem is that the clothing buys are always the same. I feel like it is just a miniature Urban Outfitters/Anthropologie, bringing nothing new to the table really.
I love that they carry Mink Pink, which could really be their niche but they seem obsessed with filling their shelves with ill fitting, overpriced jeans, leggings for $45.00 and shitloads of chunky knit sweaters. Mink Pink is a good direction ladies, it's a good price point and not being sold many places in Calgary. It's a great line. You should also should sell shoes, good, affordable, unique shoes.
It feels like there is so much missed potential there. I am afraid they won't last as it is always empty when I am in the store which is a shame because the girls that work there are always so kind and helpful something that is really refreshing compared to other clothing stores in the neighbourhood.
We shall see I guess. -

Peaked a little peak into Queen Boutique. It was so cute, I highly regretted all the Christmas shopping that I had to do. They had some of the cutest clothes in different fits that I have seen in Calgary. It did run a little pricey for basic fashion brands, but overall there was a ton of cute stuff: dresses, T's, Cardis, leggings. They had brands like Kersh, and Tara Tarantino, along with a ton of flashy accessories.
My favourite items were the broken record earrings, but I was lusting after at least three items in the store. The owners (there seemed to be a few), would coo when myself or my friend would come out of the dressing room, or alternately suggest an alternative if it was only so-so. Like all women I love to know when I look fabulous in something from OTHER people (I already know), so I ate it up.
Unfortunately my Xmas budget (and guilt. I have already bought two christmas presents for myself. I'm maxed out on that excuse) prevented me from indulging, but I'll definitely be back to scope out the cute merch and chat with the owners. CUTE CUTE CUTE.
