One of my favorite hotels anywhere. I can walk to most places I want to go. They maintain the hotel to a high standard. Everyone on the staff has been friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad stay there.

This place isn't going to win any design awards.
My companion's comment: "I really like that there are two different types of fake masonry going on here. There are fake bricks on one wall and fake bathroom tile on another. The popcorn ceiling really ties it all together."
That said, it has free wifi, is cheap via Expedia, is in a decent downtown location, and was readily available during the CHI conference when most other hotels in Vancouver were booked up.
The staff were also much more friendly and helpful than the Hyatt.
For what you pay, I agree with the other reviewers that it's a good value. -

This is a self-described "boutique hotel", but I didn't feel that vibe. It was more of a basic type of hotel, not that that's a bad thing. We had free wifi, the staff was nice, we were near a bus stop, Granville Island Market was only a bridge away, and we had pretty decent rates (although they might have been discounted for us).
But what do I remember most about this hotel?
Our topless neighbor.
We found out a couple of things about our neighbor in the apartment next to our hotel. She seemed to always be looking for something she lost, and she always did her searching without a shirt (and sometimes without pants). So in addition to all the nice amenities listed above, peepshows were also included (atleast during our stay!). -

For a world-class city, Vancouver has a lot of crappy mid-price hotels. I don't really understand why $150 buys you opulence and $80 buys you a fleabag, especially given that few other cities have such a serious gap.
The Quality Hotel, aka "I used to be the Inn at False Creek", is kind of the bridge between the two. The location sucks, in the middle of the Granville Street Drunk Americans District, but its got 9 bazillion translink stops nearby, it's a comforable walk from downtown 24/7, and, oh yeah, you never have a problem getting a cab if you need one because it's right across from Black Top. Why you need a cab with all that bus goodness nearby, I don't get, but hey...also, it's an easy walk to lots of good things. It's also convenient to Yaletown if you want to be a preening poseur.
The decor is charmingly dated. The beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The wifi is hella fast. 5 Panago locations will deliver here. FIVE! The staff is amazing...so, finally, it's an $80 hotel in Vancouver that is worth it. I hear the parking's cheap too but I don't roll like that. -

I dig this place.
Hotels are a sticky subject; what might be a palace to some may be pauper digs to others. So, with that being said, here's my criteria for a decent hotel:
- Free wi-fi.
- Space to put multiple bags/luggage easily without breaking or stubbing your toes.
- Cleanliness.
- Bed quality.
- Front desk hospitality.
- Quiet factor.
- Price
- How close it is to everything.
So how did the Quality Hotel: Downtown Vancouver pan out? I like the place. It's not Ritz Carlton but for under 100 bucks a night [I had a discount], it was comfortable, clean and quiet. How quiet? I was smack dab next to a gay club called The Odyssey and I didn't hear a thing..not a single thing. I was walking distance to everything in each direction and the front desk was always polite, cheerful and helpful.
I sadly didn't get to see naked lady searching for her odds and ends, but that's besides the point.
Now, the cons:
- I was hoping my room would have a mini fridge or a microwave...that was my fault because I didn't ask.
- I was awaken by some lady giving an epically monstrous fart next door to me, so I don't know if her butt was just in stereo or the walls were thin.
- It was a certain time at night when the wi-fi was molasses slow. I just surfed the net in the morning and that solved that problem.
Other than my fart alarm clock, which I'm sure no one could fix, I had a great and comfortable stay. Something that was even better; on the day of my check out, the front desk offered to store my bags for free until I was ready to catch my flight. At most places, you have to pay for such customer service! I will gladly shack up here again when I visit. -

I wouldn't recommend it for a business trip. But for a casual stay, it would be fine.
PROS:
The staff is wonderful. They are all friendly and helpful: from the front desk, restaurant staff, housekeeping, IT to management they could not have been more wonderful.
They have free wi-fi (but see my comments below)
They are more reasonable than most of the decent/name hotels in this city.
They have a complementary breakfast, not just continental but a full meal, at a table, with a wonderful wait staff. Eggs, choice of meats, potatoes, fruit, toast, juice.. and a full carafe of coffee on each table!
There are stores, restaurants, buses and Davie St/West End (with many eclectic shops and restaurants) about 2-4 blocks away.
And the (on - off) tour buses stop right in front of the hotel.
CONS:
The wi-fi is free, but it is frustratingly slow. I wasted many hours trying to access websites and emails. Eventually, their IT people (yes, also part of great customer service) gave me a Ethernet bridge and it was manageable, but still slow.
The room itself was acceptable. I was supposed to get a king suite with a kitchenette, but when I got there they only had one with just a micro/fridge available. They did, however, take some money off my nightly fee (again, good customer service).
The suite was a good size, with a bedroom and sitting room, both with TVs. They were clean and very comfortable. The king bed was too firm for me, but that's a personal preference.
The bathroom was very disappointing. It was tiny, cramped and looked like it was added on as an after thought... the door from the bedroom into the bathroom couldn't even open all the way.
So, if you're going to be out of the room more than in and don't need to be 'connected' for 2+hrs a day.. it will be perfect. -

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights in early September. The room was an okay size and was just as it had been shown on the website. The decor was very nice, as were the amenities in the bathroom. The bathroom was a little small, though, so we couldn't be in there at the same time to get ready in the morning. It is in a good location, close to bus routes and to good restaurants. My only issue is that they promote themselves as a boutique hotel, but I do not really see that (unless it's the $4 1 liter bottle of water in the room that does it). We didn't eat in the restaurant, but did use the bar and the bartender was EXCELLENT! He said he had been there for over 20 years, and the hotel has been very wise to keep him. Overall, it is a good place to stay!
