I wish could say that I had a good experience here, the woman running the shop seemed pleasant enough, but I'm afraid it was quite a disappointing experience.
In January, there was a livingsocial deal for this place ($39 for $100 worth of custom framing) which seemed like a really good deal as a person can definitely go broke getting items framed, so I purchased the deal with the intent of getting a poster framed that I've been holding onto.
I brought the poster in today to get framed and the merchant quoted me $270 (before tax) for a standard metal frame (no matting). I have had several items framed (including posters) and was quite shocked. I told her about a poster I had framed recently in Vancouver (just down the road on Broadway), similar size and that it was only $125. She replied that they have a promotion for poster framing right now that would be a similar price, but that the livingsocial deal could not be applied. I just read the fine print and it says that the only exceptions to this deal are plaque mounting or canvas transfers - neither of which apply to framing a poster. In the end, I told her I would have to think about it because it was more than double what I was expecting. I went to two other framing places on the way home and their quotes were $125 and $150.
I'm very disappointed and feel that the merchant is definitely trying to take advantage of customers with this deal. Check out 3Y or The Gallery on west Broadway, both run by very pleasant people who do great work for more than half the price of Quadro.
