Best Christmas lunch of the season so far. Food was perfect and the high levels of service from the staff pulled it all together.
Keep of the good work .

Our client selected this place for our lunch meeting. It was my first time trying Q4 al Centro and it was a great experience. The restaurant was packed and the servers were friendly.

We had the Insalata Arugula Salad, which consisted of candied walnuts, caprino, beets, balsamic dressing. I'm not a big fan of the Caprino italian cheese but other than that, it was pretty good.

I had the Tagliatelle Gamberi, which had prawns, cherry tomatoes, pine nuts, lemon, basil. Very light...not too filling as the portion was small. The prawns were cut in half and were firm to my liking. The cherry tomatoes were delicious and juicy.

    I'd come back again.

Part two of my eat fest.  Gawd, I felt fat at the end of the day.

    3.5 stars

We came here just before making way to a show for the evening.  We had an early seating and there was hardly anybody in the place.  The atmosphere was casual and intimate at the same time.  I'm not sure why they would have big screen TVs in the restaurant.  The TV's are distracting if you want an intimate atmosphere (reason for the half star deduction).  It seemed as if they're trying to cater to too many types of clientele..  The other thing I didn't like was the noise level.  It was a bit loud.

    So how was the food?

If you order pasta at most establishments, they will mass cook it in one thing of hot water ahead of time, and then finish it when it is ordered.  I'm sure Q4 does this also, but there appears to be a difference.  It is mass cooked differently depending on the menu item.  I ordered the daily special of sablefish linguine. It was quite tasty, sablefish not overcooked.  Another person in our party ordered fettuccine aragosta .  It appears the two pastas were cooked in different stocks, because they tasted totally different from each other.  Each one had it's own flavour profile.

Margherita  pizza was also very tasty.  Done very nicely with a thin and crispy crust.

I would recommend the cannoli trio as the dessert.  They do it three ways, sorry I can't remember all three except for the pistachio. It was a treat and very deadly.

Our server was very nice and a little bit of a rookie.  I noticed it and started giving him a hard time, but it was in jest and he was quite willing to play along.  However, he was able to recommend a decent Italian wine, (Italian wines are not my forte).   He shook my hand when we left.  I guess he had a good time being our server.

A friend called me today to grab lunch--he suggested Q4 downtown. I think he was feeling like a baller after a great month at work. I've been to the one in Kits a few times but not downtown.

We split a gorgonzola pizza to start and i had the Fusilli Bolognese. The food was impeccable, the room just the right volume level and ambiance, service great. It was a fine way to spend an hour at lunch. The thin crust pizza was as good as any I've had at hyped places like Nicii Antica and the fresh pasta was amazing.

It took me a while to get to this location but with $10 pizzas downtown on Sundays, I'll be back soon!

Good Italian food in the heart of downtown.  It's a big plus that they offer free valet parking.  (I don't mind saving a few bucks here and there.)  The place feels pretty spacious and the decore is modern.  I like the exposed beams on the ceiling, it offers a bit of industrial feel to the place.

Our server was friendly and informative.  Food portions were pretty decent.  I had dinner with my parents.  They ordered a sausage platter for two.  It was pretty big.  I ordered the calarmari as a starter.  It was pretty good.  The calamari were tender and the cucumber salad that came with it was light and refreshing.  However my veal chop dish was a bit disappointing.  When I asked that the veal to be cooked medium rare, it came out well done.  I was craving to have some blood from the meat to go with my big and bold red wine.  I mentioned it to the server and he said the chef could redo the dish.  I declined because I didn't want to waste food.

The wine list was pretty good.  It had a decent selection of wines but not as crazy as other restaurants because I had to "read an entire book" before I could find a wine with my meal.

Overall I had a decent experience at Q4.  A definite yes for family meals with my parents.

Oh dear, while the food is good, what is up with the fact that at 7:30 on a Friday, I feel like I am coming in while the staff is breaking down for the night and I am an afterthought?  First off, what seemed to be managers and friends partying at bar.  That's ok really but to dis your staff while you're there....  Cool bartender, helpful with choices and she was right with the choices, disappeared before I got my food, didn't tell me she was breaking and clearly didn't tell the other bartender because no check in and I had to flag for my bill.  Bummer is, they would have sold another glass of wine and a dessert.  As it was, I left mad.  Too bad, these guys need to grow up, sucess doesn't last with just your buddy's coming in....

Joanne M has hit the nail on the head with her review of this new location. I was taken aback by the styling of the room. It's much more suited to Yaletown than the Tuscan tones of the 4th Ave spot.

I was taken there for a belated birthday lunch and wasn't about to say no to a glass of Champagne to start. We shared the radicchio appetiser and I agree that it is a bit on the small side for the money. It's very tasty though. We shared the spaghetti Q4 and the vongole pasta. Both delicious but be warned - the spaghetti has a lot of garlic.

Our server was lovely and the hostess was gracious. There's free valet parking at lunch which is a bonus as downtown parking can get pricey. This is not a lunch-on-a-budget spot but a great place to take someone you want to impress or get taken to.

Need a fresh new spot for an impressive downtown business lunch? This is the place.  Superb food, attentive, yet not cloying, service in elegant comfortable surroundings.

Located in L'Hermitage Hotel on Richards and Robson, Q4 Centro opened just a few months ago. It's run by Patrick Corsi who owns its sister operation in Kitsilano. Yes, that's the old Quattro restaurant on 4th Avenue, wisely renamed after an unfortunate mob targeted shooting a few years ago demanded a bit of re-branding.

It's a stylish and trendy concrete space with a soaring 30' cathedral ceiling, yet surprisingly still warm and comfortable and even somewhat intimate with only 70 seats. There's also plenty of room at the cocktail and kitchen bars. Perhaps the most dramatic feature of the room is an exquisite 10' by 20' abstract painting by artist Jason Gogo.

Executive Chef Bradford Ellis has wisely kept the menu pared down to what he clearly does best - simple yet elegant Italian cuisine. The day I stopped by, with sadly not much time to linger over a long lunch, I opted for the grilled lamb sirloin Panini with smoked Caciocavallo, balsamic marinated zucchini and cranberry relish.  When our lunch arrived, just 10 minutes after ordering, the lamb was so tender it dissolved in my mouth. My companion ordered the forno roasted chicken Panini with crisped prosciutto, caramelized shallots, spicy arugula aioli. She also raved, although oddly only ate half. I kept wanting to snatch it off her plate, only business decorum stopped me.

My only criticism is that the amount of radicchio and frisse green garnish on the side seemed a tad stingy, but hey that's minor.

Overall I can't wait to return with more time to savour those divine looking home made meatballs, in smoked caciocavallo, and Marsala basil pomodoro ragout, followed perhaps by the BC Sablefish, with the Moscato citrus butter succo. Ah...a girl can dream can't she?

Q4 Centro is open for dinner nightly from 5pm, and lunch Monday to Friday from 11:30am.

I am here easily once a week and there is nothing that has disappointed me about Q4 Al Centro.

The service is impeccable, the manager, Albert will go above and beyond to make sure that everything is perfect with your meal.

The cocktails here are also great, just as the wine menu is, but let's not forget the food.....ah the food.

The food here is amazing, you could easily close your eyes and just point at the menu and not be disappointed. If you happen to be a vegetarian than they make their famous Q4 spaghetti as a vegetarian dish as well.

Oh, last thought, if you are in a group, get the antipasto platter....amazing!

Great service and delicious food.   This restaurant is a nice addition to the downtown core.    I went with clients on a weeknight and they were thoroughly impressed.

I don't consider myself a huge fan of Italian food but Q4 is good enough to make me want to rethink that position.
I look forward to exploring their menu in depth.

The Ravioli Tartufo and the Portabella pizza were both to die for.  The sea bass was cooked perfectly.  I also enjoyed the wine selection.

I look forward to my next opportunity to dine at Q4.

Granted we didn't eat "in" Q4 I guess it could be different, but... The adjoining hotel's room service comes from Q4 and it is fantastic!  We really appreciated having their menu available from our room and we had absolutely no complaints.  The antipasti and carpaccio are definitely worth getting.

I'm actually tempting to give it a 5-star review, but on second thought, I should be more conservative with my ratings. I went there for this year's dine out, and I had an amazing experience there. The service was quick and friendly. The server took the time to explain each dish as it arrived. The atmosphere was very alive. Perhaps a bit too loud, but nowadays it's hard to find a quiet restaurant where we can hear our conversation effortlessly. Anyway, onto the food. I absolutely love our dishes from the dine-out menu. I had the rice corquette for appetizer and it was delicious. My friend had the soup and it had a little bit kick to it which was quite tasty as well. For the main, I had the lingcod which was cooked right. However, it was my friend's main, the short rib, that made me craving for more. It was very tender and flavorful. The highlight was definitely the desserts. We had the pistachio cannoli and napolean, and they were both wonderful. The cannoli was very crispy and the pistachio cream inside was simply divine. The wafer in the Napolean was crispy and the cream filling was very nice as well. I think I'll definitely go back to try other items in their regular menu.

Was here tonight for a friends bday dinner. We were told beforehand that there is complimentary valet parking which is always nice but we didn't hv trouble finding street parking so we just parked on the street (free after 10). We couldn't rly see the sign wen we drove by so we missed it the first time, had to drive by again. Anyways the inside is pretty nice. Very modern, n open with high ceilings. Nothing spectAcular but still nice.
The service was good, our server was very friendly. He even came outside to tell us our food was ready wen we were outside having a cigarette.
The reason why I couldn't give this restaurant more than 2 stars was because of their food. The appies were decent but not great, and they were so small. I know appies are not usually huge, but still. For $15-20 a plate I usually expect a little more than that. We ordered the calamari, the crab cakes, and the beef carpaccio.
I liked their bread but not the dip it came with. It was made with chickpea and something else. I asked for some vinegar and with the olive oil it was so much better.
I had the lobster ravioli as my main entree and I was highly disappointed. It was definitely not worth almost $30 that they charge. The sauce was salty, and the ravioli was almost hollow with not enough stuffing. The ravioli shell itself was probably not cooked enough as it was hard. Another friend ordered the same thing and he didn't like it either.
My fiAncée had the tenderloin steak and it was ok. We didn't rly like the stuff they sprinkled on top of it because it tasted burnt so we scraped it off. It was cooked perfectly and was tender.
My friend had the halibut and she couldn't eat it at all. So the server kindly took it back and fixed it up for her and gave her extra risotto too. She had to drench it with lemon before she could eat some of it.
The birthday boy ordered the veal and he said it was good, but someone else that ordered it as well said it was too salty.
I'm not sure if the chefs were having an off day but everyone agreed that food at this restaurant wasn't real worth the high prices. For $100 a person we definitely expect more. I was told that the food at their other location (west 4th) is better. Prob wont b returning here again.
